As I promised in my line nail post (aka "strobed nails" if you will), I did a full mani with Butter London Lucy In The Sky.
It served pretty nicely for the holiday concerts I had recently, but these fine glitters set in a neutral base was just fine for simple work days.

I have hair that is kind of low-maintenance and I don't like doing much except for getting a good haircut every 6 weeks. My hair does get unruly and frizzy sometimes, but that doesn't make me fret. Many drugstore offerings easily please me. No problem.
But, I've been also exposed to abundant high-end hair products like Goldwell, Kerastase, and Fekkai because I used to manage a luxury day spa with a hair salon. So I'm the tough one to really impress when it comes to basic things like shampoo/conditioner especially if they are over a certain price point.
So honestly, I was a bit skeptical about this "customized" shampoo/conditioner set from ProfilePRO. How different could it be? I agreed to try it because I wanted to see if this would work on someone who is pickier in choosing his hair stuff.

I have been playing with this quad for a few weeks now, and as promised in the swatch post, I want to show some looks created with Chanel Signe Particulier.
Admittedly, it wasn't as easy to figure out the best way to wear this quad (for my eyes anyway). Signe Particulier doesn't have the buttery texture and blendability as Harmonie du Soir, for example. Which means it has the harder/sheerer quality that somewhat reminds me of the old baked formulation. I happen to appreciate the rock hard formulation of the old baked quadras (documented here), so this finding doesn't change my positive opinions on Signe Particulier. It just took me a little time to figure things out.

Compared to years ago when I first started wearing circle lenses, there are many more options to choose from not to mention now they are made of better materials. However, it's getting more difficult to find ones with smaller graphic diameters. For that, KLENSPOP Sio Color Hazel gets extra appreciation since the graphic diameter is about 13mm, which is just slightly bigger than my natural iris.

Some of you know that I am not so much into nail art or glitter nail polishes. I lack skills and time in general. I love me some good glitters, but I always dread the pain of removing them. (I tried a special base coat for glitters recently, but it didn't work out so well.)
However, I think I might have solved those two conundrums here. That is, of course, if you can call this line-drawing a sort of nail art.

I thought my makeup heart was slowly dying or something since I hadn't coveted anything in a while. But it sang a little (more of a twitch, actually) when I saw Signe Particulier Quadra from the Chanel holiday 2015 collection. So I happily obliged.

I have been sitting on this review more than I wanted to. I even had a Halloween plan with these lenses. KLENSPOP Von Natural Fit Gray has the quite vivid designs which I thought would be perfect for a simple Halloween-themed makeup I had in mind. The look achieved with Von Natural Fit Gray is twinkly bright eyes that are very much catlike. So I ordered a simple cat-eared headband for myself, which will arrive today, two days too late. (The life, you know?)

I have been using this NARS powder combo for some time now. Neither on its own is perfect, but together? It comes quite close.
Some might think using two different setting powder is unnecessary and even bothersome, but I find this is a great way to perfect complexion without looking too done. I usually skip concealing, so this makes up in a sense.

A while ago it seemed Revlon Cream Blush range was being discontinued because I didn't see them from the local drugstore display anymore and even Lisa Eldridge was saying that she needed some help finding backups for her kit. And that's when I found these two gorgeous shades Flushed ( This is Ms. Eldridge's fave) and Coral Reef from a discount store.
I think I would have passed on these blushes regardless how affordable they were if it weren't for Lisa Eldridge's recommendations, but it is a good thing that I picked them up. The colors are pretty but not extremely pigmented and easy to work with, which is just perfect for cream blush beginners like me.
Maybe Revlon has decided to keep the range after all. Now you can find them from major retailers as well as various online stores again (at a full price). Do you think this might be Ms. Eldridge's influence? Quite possible.

Proganix is a new pro-series hair care from the team who brought out the OGX line.
I was quite excited when I received the Quench (it is one of the six different ranges introduced) gift set because around that time I started seeing them at retailers like Ulta and Target and got curious as well.
I was quite excited when I received the Quench (it is one of the six different ranges introduced) gift set because around that time I started seeing them at retailers like Ulta and Target and got curious as well.
To me, it seems that Proganix lineup is mostly about enhancements based on the existing OGX range since I see the popular fragrances like Coconut and Cherry Blossom adopted into the new range.
Quench line is similarly scented and has the same "hydrating" concept as OGX Coconut Milk stuff, but supposedly with amplified performance. Proganix Quench line contains coconut water and electrolytes to help hydrate and nourish dry hair.

One of the most remarkable things in my makeup life in 2015 (oh boy, that sounds too much) is that I have ventured into the out-of-comfort color realm (aka orange) and started feeling somewhat comfortable over there too. I would be in denial if I said orange looked better on me than cool-toned pink and red, but I do enjoy this passionate and perky color group and have been wearing something orange regularly.
As a result, I have acquired quite a few orange makeup items. It is a relatively(!) smaller collection, but is rather complete and even perfect to my own eyes.
Some of them deserve full reviews which will come hopefully soon. Today I will show all of them together, because it's Friday and looking at orange makeup is fun.

I was initially looking at the new Greige palette (when it comes to eyeshadows, I am on autopilot and look at cool smokey ones), then I realized what's missing from my eyeshadow collection is warmer, rosy shades. Telluride Eye Palette is a perfect rosy neutral palette. I don't normally like eyeshadow palettes in long rectangular cases with more than 4 colors, but this one I enjoy. It is like a essential version of NAKED 3. Better quality, too.

I have something new and shiny from Bobbi Brown.
Admittedly, a richly pigmented lipstick isn't something I get excited often about, but this one kind of fit the bill when I was scheming on Bobbi Brown website to use the voucher I got from Gilt (There was a "$30 off purchase of $80 or more" deal for Bobbi Brown stuff. I am linking the site just in case you want to get sucked into a deal and buy unnecessary makeup like me. Or maybe you shouldn't.)
It was easy to choose the Telluride Eye Palette that made my heart sing immediately (review coming soon), but I was a bit skeptical about my other choice, Russian Doll from the new lipstick range called Luxe Lip Color. Thankfully, it turns out I also like a full coverage lipstick if it is good quality. Plus it doesn't hurt that Russian Doll is a quite flattering shade on me.

Silk Choco and Silk Brown are the newest additions to KLENSPOP's silicone hydrogel lineup.
Unlike the other silicone hydrogel contacts I have tried so far, these are notably thinner and feel more flexible. My understanding is that silicone hydrogel contacts are generally thicker and somewhat rigid (the material is a hybrid of soft and hard lenses), and some people need a bit of time to adjust because of that. I am guessing these are targeted for those who like their contact lenses to be thin as well as looking subtle and natural.
(You might say "who doesn't want their contact lenses to be thin?" Well, there are pros and cons, but we will get to that later.)

This is a new-ish primer from Revlon that is supposed to do more than just one thing. It can be worn by itself for a smooth poreless finish, under makeup or even over makeup to prolong the makeup wear and minimize shine.
I knew what it was from the beginning - solidified silicone balm, which is not exactly a revolutionary thing. Silicones have played a major role in the cosmetic industries for many years now. They smooth, prime and mattify whether they are added in something (foundation, powder, blush or almost everything including skincare) or on its own. I am saying that Revlon Photoready Prime + Antishine Balm does the job.
The problem for me was that I couldn't fit this in any place of my makeup routine, neither under nor over.

These two adorable pot samples came with my last Rouge Bunny Rouge order. Both contain enough for me to learn about the products, and obviously Rouge Bunny Rouge went extra miles for these sample containers with their logo and the printed labels attached. I like that.
Sampling them didn't lead to an additional purchase (I am on low-buy lately), but I occasionally reach for them whenever I feel like some extra glow. Not exactly the colors I would choose for my full size items, but they are pretty nonetheless.

KLENSPOP has provided samples quite generously lately, but so hooked on those silicone hydrogel lenses I purchased two more pairs with my own money. These Peripera Peri's Tint Water came with my orders thanks to their current promotion (Buy one pair of silicone hydrogel lenses and receive one random color of Peripera Peri's Tint Water).
I myself was never impressed with the original Benetint and these looked like Benetint, so I didn't have much expectation.
But what do you know, these are better and cuter (obviously).

Not having a soft clean musk for summer wasn't an option for me, and I was almost set to buy a full bottle of Serge Lutens Clair de Musc after trying a few samples. The problem was that Clair de Musc suddenly changed her attitude and started talking dirty as soon as the summer arrived. It was a big surprise for me because before summer she would just innocently murmur all day in her quiet musky tone.
So the "easiest" Serge Lutens (At least that is the common reputation for Clair de Musc. Am I the only one who saw her animalic side? Just wondering) was out, and I remembered how I loved the small bottle of the original Narciso Rodriguez "for Her" I had a few years ago. I still remember it as one of the most beautifully blooming musks, although its tenacity did annoy me on a few occasions. I wanted something carefree and lighter than the original but didn't find the recent release from the same house that way.
Narciso Rodriguez L'Eau was considered next, naturally. It is a flowery and airy version of the original which was introduced as a seasonal flanker many years ago. I thought it was interesting that L'Eau stayed unlike the other NR flankers.

KLENSPOP Sio 3 Color Lizzy Mocha has the same composition as Lizzy Blue which I reviewed not too long ago. The effect is calmer on my eyes since the main color is a chocolaty brown.
Lizzy Mocha isn't a typical pair of brown circle lenses, though. This is a pair that does both defining and brightening with an interesting color twist. The end result is subtly sexy, if you will.

Sunscreen would be the one thing I use up fairly quickly. I feel proud that I can finish a 1 oz bottle or tube in about a month, because it means at least I follow the cardinal rule - apply the recommended amount a lot.
I have gone through more than a few sunscreens since March and meant to do individual reviews on them. Well, that's not exactly happening, but here you will have four mini reviews. While not feeling so dutiful, this does good for my soul.

I feel bad blogging about a long discontinued blush. Chanel Joues Contraste Rouge is an LE shade that came out many years ago and is obviously very hard to find.
For me, it was the one that got away. It came out when I had little interest in owning a super pigmented red blush, but it was kind of a thing that people still talked about years later that I became want one only to find out it wasn't available.
I finally came across one from a generous friend's blogsale page, and my fingers never typed so fast although they were shaky from anxiety - what if someone else takes it?
Well, that didn't happen. Rouge came to me. Lucky me. ;)

KLENSPOP kindly provided a couple more silicone hydrogel contacts for review. Now I am totally hooked on contact lenses made of silicone hydrogel (I find this article to be a good guide) and can't imagine wearing anything else. The difference in comfort level is so huge that I even switched to clear daily contacts made of the same material. They are not super thin but have this squishy feel to them, so they don't move around too much (read less halo effect). Your mileage would vary, but they definitely feel way more comfortable than non-silicone-hydrogel (or just hydrogel) lenses and stay moist all day from what I've experienced so far.
Sio 3 Color Lizzy Blue is an interesting pair. If you are looking to transform your dark eyes into bright blue, this may not be for you. If you prefer deeper blue colors and want to add a bit of a mystery, do check this out.

Medium berry pink is an easy color for me to wear on lips and these two come in great formulas as well. Yet I have been feeling uninspired to do separate posts on them. I still reach for them quite often and I think they are nice every time. The mini Lip Lover has even found a place in my makeup bag. Both are brightening and flattering colors with shine (oh, I like shine) and feel moisturizing. I don't know why I don't love them. There is a less flattering shade in horrid formulation that has a more pull on me than them. Why is that?
Nevertheless, I thought the internet could use a few more swatches and overall looks (or does it?), so here you go.

With a bit of exaggeration, Korean beauty consists of 10 steps of skincare routines. After cleansing your face as desired (another large subject), you use toner (possibly astringent), essence, serum, and a moisturizer or two. Many people even utilize ampoules in their regimens.
I am a minimalist when it comes to my skincare and quite lazy at that as well. This concept of layering multiple products overwhelms me. On the other hand, I'm not entirely foreign to the notion because I grew up in Korea and started my "beauty life" there. This DOES help if you choose the right products and be consistent with your routine, which I am reminded more and more as I get older.
If you're lazy minimalistic like me and want to delve into the infamous Korean skincare routines but don't know where to start, I would suggest first employing an essence like T.E.N. Cremolab Mineral Treatment Essence.

I haven't actually "hauled" makeup in a while (my last one was back in February). Buying multiple things at once from a single brand is not one of my shopping habits, either. But the 50% off deal from KIKO (the sale is still going on) was too sweet to pass up that I placed a sensible order which arrived today.
By "sensible", I mean I only chose things from the sale pages and stayed around the free shipping range ($35). That doesn't change the fact that I added yet another taupe eyeshadow which obviously isn't lacking from my stash, but seriously, I am being my own killjoy by saying it. Silly Lena. Stop it.
I only swatched them today, but everything seems satisfactory if not earth-shattering. Considering the small price I paid, I think I will enjoy them a lot.
Now, on to my show-and-tell..

When I briefly tried the AmorePacific cushion compact, I was infatuated and disappointed at the same time. I loved the glow-y finish with a perfectly skin-like feel, but couldn't make even the lightest color offered here in the U.S. work for me.
So you can easily guess I was over the moon happy when Peach and Lily sent the IOPE Air Cushion XP in N21, which is an awesome color match for me. IOPE Air Cushion is "the cushion compact" that started it all, and it is still very popular in Korea now when there are a lot more cushion compact options available. It is called "6 second compact" as they say one is sold every 6 seconds.
I have been wearing it for 7 straight days now, and I can confidently say this is everything and beyond of what I fantasized about Korean cushion makeup.

Liz of Beauty Reductionista gifted these lipsticks to me a little while ago (Thank you, Liz!). I have been always partial to sheer lipsticks and usually find lipsticks with opaque finish quite challenging to pull off. Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick Hydrangea and MAC Amplified Lipstick Red Balloon are not the ones that will change my lipstick preference, especially since they come in such bright shades. However, Hydrangea and Red Balloon are both stunning colors for sure.

I have another post with brief reviews and swatches from sampling.
When Lancôme introduced this sheer lipstick range, I was excited and almost sure that I'd get at least a few. Sheer lipstick with shine seems to be a thing for which I tend to open my wallet easily these days, but this time the sampling didn't lead me to an immediate purchase. It rather held me back.
I have mentally placed Lancôme Shine Lovers on the "maybe list" because I still think they are very nice. Maybe it is due to the fact that my impression is gathered merely from a sample packet with a tiny lip brush, which I suppose substantially differs from actually swiping a lipstick on the lips.

I am not the one who draws stars and stripes on the nails, but I give you a blue NOTD for the sake of it.
When I first saw the promotion images of the Blue Rhythm de Chanel, I immediately thought about these two legacy nail polish shades I've had for years, Essie Mesmerize & Misa A Sin Worth Committing.

There was a time when I was so obsessed with hair and body stuff that I often got my foot bruised in the shower. (Hear me out.) I had so many bottles and tubes of body wash, shampoo, conditioner, scrub, body oil, etc., and occasionally one of the them (or two;;) would drop from the cluttered shelf and land on my poor foot. True story.
Those days are long gone. I can't believe I used to even blend essential oil with unscented shampoo and conditioner. Now I just stick with simple drugstore things that seem to work just fine for me.
Um, I still like varieties. Which is why I usually have 2-3 different shampoo/conditioner sets and more than a few body wash in my shower booth. Here are the ones I've been happily using lately. Some of them were repurchased many times, too.

The names of Rouge Bunny Rouge things are always poetically mouthful. God forbid sheer lipstick be just sheer lipstick. It is Succulence Of Dew, ok? And this brown color shall be called "Perfume Of His Gaze". A sheer brown lipstick could be the most boring object in the world, but suddenly it becomes so mysterious and irresistible.
I love sheer lipsticks and didn't have a brown one in my collection (really, really). Plus there was a 20% off code with free shipping (this is offered on Wondegondigo blog and still available). I wonder who could resist such a combination.

(Sorry, this FOTD is out of focus. But I like it, so)
I will tell you right here. I would have never picked up KLENSPOP Pinky Grey for myself. They are bigger (although not huge) in diameter than the ones I usually reach for, and the designs are on the artificial and more dramatic side.
Apparently the blogging gods wanted me to try them anyway because I was sent these by KLENSPOP recently. Then I fell in love with them. Totally unintended.

AMOREPACIFIC Color Control Cushion Compact
I do not enjoy dealing with samples (sample packets and foil pouches, to be exact), but this time we are talking about a relatively new product that piqued my curiosity to a certain degree. (Well, I added it to my preliminary wish list a while ago.)
This one came with my recent Nordstrom order, and I must say it was legit. I mean, I felt like trying it on my face as opposed to tossing it into "the sample grave". I guess I do not like anything that doesn't come with proper container of a sort, but I can see AMOREPACIFIC has made an effort to help us at least "learn" about this cushion compact. The whole experience matters when it comes to beauty products. Yeah.

These are the two most worn and loved items of late. Only a cliché like "Better late than never" comes to my mind as I try to open this entry, but I guess that is how I really feel about my introduction to Canmake.
Like many other Japanese drugstore brands, Canmake isn't readily available here in the U.S. and there is always a bit of markup. Japanese yen is quite weak right now but the price on eBay or Amazon.com doesn't really reflect the current exchange rates, so I ended up paying about twice of the local price tag although it included standard oversea shipping. The quality is still worthwhile that I want to buy a few more colors and even venture more into the brand.

Liz of Beauty Reductionista generously gifted this fabulous mini set to me when she found out I was hankering after a similar set from Sephora. I had practically broken up with Sephora (Currently I'm going out with Beauty.com and Nordstrom. Happily.) but was thinking about ordering something (totally unnecessary) for the set. It is a wrong reason to go back to an old relationship, you know. A crisis averted.

(Sorry, it is not "Naked Smoky".)
I am looking forward to the second part of the Chanel Summer 2015 collection, Blue Rhythm de Chanel. From the images on the web, I've gathered I have pretty much every dupe for what's being offered (including these two stunning nail polishes), but I think I do need the blue eyeshadow quad, Tissé Jazz.
This Blue Smoky FOTD was a byproduct of my inventory check (so to speak), because I didn't want to end up with two Chanel eyeshadow quads that are too similar to each other. For this look, I used Chanel Quadra 41 Fascination (reviewed here) which is the bluest eyeshadow quad that I own at the moment. I think that will change soon, though.

It may not be the most exciting pair of circle lenses, but KLENSPOP Vi-Fine Gray couldn't be more perfect if you are looking for subtle definition for every day look. Dare I say MEBB (My Eyes But Better)?

Much encouraged by my first experience with Deborah Lippmann lipsticks, I went ahead and ordered another lipstick/nail polish set of hers. Sexy Back Duet is a "fierce flirty fuchsia crème" duo (actually, "duo" would be more of an accurate term. Just saying) of a full size lipstick and a fashion size nail lacquer. It is another great set, and I must say this time I am more impressed with the lipstick than the nail polish.

If you are to buy just one nail polish this season, I think this is it, guys. Do you need a quick pick-me-up? Get Revlon Nail Enamel Provocative.

It all started with the last year's mascara sale from Nordstrom. The sale itself is fantastic since you get three high-end mascaras for the price of two. I believe it is an annual thing, so you might want to look for this year's sale if you typically shop higher-end mascaras.
The thing is, all three I picked up turned out to be pretty much duds for me. I had high hopes for them since all the reviews I checked out were great and a few of them were even recommended by fellow bloggers. Maybe my expectations were too great? I still don't know what went wrong.

Despite the fact that I probably have more than a lifetime supply of pink lippies, occasionally I still find myself without one on the go. I usually buy something from a discount store nearby my downtown work place if this happens. L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss Berry Chic was the latest "emergency pick-up" that was supposed to be a one day thing, but I ended up really liking it.

Lately I haven't been experimenting much with different color contacts although I still wear them on a regular basis. I have been mostly reaching for "circle lenses" that give a subtle enhancement as opposed to "color contacts". It is probably because I often work in a very conservative environment where people comment on such things, which I find, well, annoying. (Technically they can't reprimand me even if I wear crazy looking color lenses unless it affects my performance, because I am a freelancer.)
KLENSPOP has kindly provided a couple pairs of contact lenses (of my choice, Grazie.) for reviews, and today I will show Bunny Color Brown to you. This particular design is from the LensPop brand, and it is an excellent medium of both "edgy" and "natural".

This spring I have been quite content in "the beauty department". I haven't bought whole a lot but I feel happy with the select few that I picked up. Browsing and virtual swatching (the "scheming") is the funner part of all this, and the joy is doubled to find out your deliberate choice actually works out on you. Also, these recent months have been abundant in amazing blogsale deals (one example here) and surprises from a generous swap package.
Liz of Beauty Reductionista (who is currently hosting a giveaway) kindly gifted this beauty to me. Chanel Le Vernis Quartz is a complex shade yet Chanel merely described it as a "silver beige", which is not too far off, but come on.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick Plaisir (779) is one of the three limited edition colors from Dior's new "Tie-Dye" Collection (Summer 2015).
You guys know I LOVE Dior Addict Fluid Sticks (documented here & here), and I've wanted to add a bright pink red like Wonderland to my collection anyway. Plaisir is a bit of a deviated choice (also swayed by the fact it is an LE) yet close enough that I probably won't get Wonderland for comparison, but we will see. (It would be nice if somebody can actually confirm they are very close. Please?)

CoverGirl recently brought out a new volumizing mascara and a versatile liquid eyeliner : Meet The Super Sizer by Lash Blast Mascara & intensify me! Liquid Eyeliner.
I had my doubts because I rarely find a mascara with regular formulation that works on my straight Asian lashes and I still think liquid liners are difficult to work with. After trying them on and off for about two weeks, now I see I worried for nothing and many people would find these new eye makeup tools useful and easy to wear!

I always say "curiosity is overrated" to others as well as to myself. (I mean, have you not regretted answering a phone call from an unknown number, ever?)
Well, I was curious about the new Deborah Lippmann lipstick range, and I did need a new bottle of Deborah Lippmann Naked polish.
This time, I can tell you my curiosity has been rewarded, because Deborah Lippmann I'm Every Woman lipstick is excellent, and My Touch My Kiss Set is definitely a handsome way to try both.

I wish I liked this humbly priced drugstore lipstick a bit better, because the color is stunning. Some even say it is a nice alternative to MAC Lady Danger.
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 110 is a gorgeous orange tinged red that turns heads. The formula, however, leaves much to be desired. It does not seem much different from the matte lipsticks I experienced 10 years ago - thick, dry, and crackly in the end.
