FOTD | Blue Smoky

(Sorry, it is not "Naked Smoky".)

I am looking forward to the second part of the Chanel Summer 2015 collection, Blue Rhythm de Chanel. From the images on the web, I've gathered I have pretty much every dupe for what's being offered (including these two stunning nail polishes), but I think I do need the blue eyeshadow quad, Tissé Jazz
This Blue Smoky FOTD was a byproduct of my inventory check (so to speak), because I didn't want to end up with two Chanel eyeshadow quads that are too similar to each other. For this look, I used Chanel Quadra 41 Fascination (reviewed here) which is the bluest eyeshadow quad that I own at the moment. I think that will change soon, though.

Chanel Quadra 41 Fascination

From the Chanel Quadra Fascination,
Shade 1 was used on the lid space, shade 2 to blend the harsh edges, shade 3 to highlight the inner corners, and lastly shade 4 to line the lower lash lines.

To be honest, this quad requires no technique since the colors blend in so effortlessly.
Just do whatever you fancy, and you will come up with a beautifully complex blue with a satin finish.
Here, no primer was used.

The thing with Fascination is that it is not really a blue eyeshadow quad. I've tried quite a few different combinations, but the end result is never a true blue. It leans towards teal or grey depends on which color you use the most. Which is fine with me since I like the complex colors. But you see, I will need Tissé Jazz after all.

(Please don't tell me they look the same. You're interrupting this big ass pre-justification, and more importantly, jeopardizing our friendship.)

(Ok?)

Thanks for looking. Next time I will show you why I won't be getting those glorious blue nail polishes from the same collection, because life needs balance.

Do you like blue eyeshadows? ;)

    1. LOL. I know you have a baked version of Fascination and it seems to pull bluer on you! The new quad looks unapologetically blue. I must have it! :)

  2. Haha I say yes, get them both! I have Fascination and I think it looks fine on me, but you pull it off better! Not even sure we'll get that blue collection here tho. I might have to ask :)

    1. I just read your review on Fascination again. It looks lovely on you and somewhat warmer, too. I guess it works well on different skintones.
I hope you guys get the new collection as well. If not a whole quad, the singles look beautiful as well. One of them is Riviera blue that is stunning. :)

  3. LOL can't jeopardize our friendship! The new quad looks lovely, and versatile and BLUE. You'll have to show us how you get on with it ;) I like this look a lot, too! But it does seem a touch warmer, so I think you're in business with the new one. Plus, "jazz?" Made for you, obviously.

    1. Haha, I knew you'd support me! :D
The truth is, I don't reach for purple and blue like I used to. This look used to be like a uniform for me years ago. I think my preference has changed but also aging has something to do with it. Oh, well, I still want the blue quad! :)

  4. I've been really addicted with the Lip Glow and I love how it looks paired with the intense smokey eyes look! I cannot pull blue too well, but you rocked it!

    1. Thanks, Stephanie!
Dior Lip Glow has caught me off guard in a good way since it pulls a bit warm on me, which makes it a foolproof to pair with anything. :)

  5. Blue eyeshadow honestly used to scare me until a makeup artist I worked with convinced me of how well it actually works with brown eyes. That is one pretty quad and look you have put together :)

I have yet to try Munchery but some of my friends really like it. You should def. take advantage of the free meals from CookUnity. Their food agreed with me and it's less guilt inducing than Seamless haha.

    1. Blue eyeshadows look really nice with dark brown eyes. If you're feeling a bit put off by true blues (honestly, it is a bit difficult to pull off for anyone), you might want to try a blurple like stila Rumba. It blends like a dream, too.

I will definitely take advantage of the voucher you offered for CookUnity. I agree that these services are much better than ordering from Seamless. ;p

  6. I love blue smoky eyes. Both the palettes look completely different!! (can't jeopardize our friendship :-P) Hahaha but seriously, they do look different. Different tones and shades of blues are absolutely needed!

I mean, the texture is completely different. I think the new collection has landed in Canada. Any day for me! ;)

  7. You did a good job,Lena, the blue smokey eyes look really suits you well ^^
I am not a fan of blue eye shadows of any hue because they all look awful on me :/
And no worries, they are both NOT the same, we all know that! get them both ;P

    1. Thank you, Pam!
I think you'd pull blue color well. Surprising to hear you don't think they work on you although all those reddish brown eyeshadows look stunning on you. To think about it, I feel the same about all ruddy colors on eyes.
And thanks for the support! ;D

  9. Lol, you. I saw Tisse Jazz on a display and it is GORGEOUS. And I totally know what you mean about being fooled by the blues. Can't wait to see your look with Jazz and a killer coloured contact lens. ;)

    1. Oh my God, is it gorgeous??! I can't wait to buy it!
I've been enjoying wearing hazy blue colors with my grey/blue contacts lately. Although it is generally a no-no, it seems to work just fine with fake blue eyes. ;p

    1. LOL. Thanks, Meiko! :)
Sometimes I think I should stop buying eyeshadows because I don't feel as adventurous about them, but this quad really stands out to me. Lemmings like this must be satiated! :)

  12. Oooo...love this look, I've got a drugstore quad from Kate that has similar blue tones and I love smokey blue eyes! Totally planning to pick up another chanel baked quad, I really love how intensely butter smooth they are and how the shades work together so incredibly well!

    1. Thank you, Sharlynn. I think despite of some inconsistency, Chanel nailed the half-baked formula. I love their colors more than anything (oh, and the packaging of course). Which quad are you eyeing on? I think something like Tisse Cambon would be amazing for you. :)

  13. But if I see blue, I want it to look blue on my eyes! LOL! Although the grayish tinge is quite sexy and sultry, too... and probably easier to wear than the real blue.
