Black Friday is usually when I stock up on my staples and skincare essentials. I tend to buy less makeup because I don't really hold off on new makeup releases and collections (so I don't have that many I want by this time), but I often cross off my low-key wishlist items. This year, I started shopping a bit early and also decided not to make a huge skincare purchase (I am planning to make a dent in my Chanel Sublimage skincare samples in the coming months) so my haul is relatively small. This post is mostly to keep a shopping journal for myself but also for fun, cause it's always interesting to see what others have bought, right? :)
(By the way, I still feel my shopping is on the indulgent side so to ease my guilt, I have made a small donation to my favorite charity, Flatbush Cats. I am a monthly donor to this organization but wanted to add a little something extra around this time of the year. Take a look if you like. They do some meaningful work for the community.)
Lancôme Bi-Facil Set (2 x 6.7 fl bottles) $50, Nordstrom
I think I always buy a bottle or two of this classic eye makeup remover during the sale. I still have one of the large bottles that I purchased last year but could not pass up this 50% off deal. Nordstrom has this special set but Ulta also has 50% off on individual bottles.
Lancôme Hypnose Waterproof Mascara $23.10, Lancôme US
It was 50% off when I made my order from the site but now it's just 30% off. Still, a great deal, and there are other mascaras and sets on sale. Lancôme truly is "the mascara brand" for me as I have yet to get disappointed by their mascaras. This classic mascara with a smaller brush is just perfect for me and I really like the light gel consistency.
Oribe Signature Shampoo & Conditioner $49, $52, Neiman Marcus
When it comes to luxury hair care, Oribe and Kerastase are my favorites. I took advantage of the current promotion at Neiman Marcus (you can get up to $500 off of your purchases). I almost used up my current shampoo/conditioner set (L'Oreal Professional Prolonger - it is nice but nothing special so I am going back to my trustees) so I am quite excited to open this new set. I also purchased Kerastase Densifique shampoo and conditioner from the recent Sephora sale (Kerastase also has a 20% sale sitewide, by the way) and will be rotating the Oribe and the Kerastase.
AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder $68, Neiman Marcus
I almost finished my Dermalogica Superfoliant and this enzymatic exfoliating powder from AmorePacific would be an upgrade for me. (AmorePacific is having a good sale right now but this popular powder is sold out so it might be a better idea to take advantage of the event at Neiman Marcus.) I hear so many good things about this powder and feel very excited!
Tom Ford Soleil Neige Gloss Luxe Sunrise Pink $60, Neiman Marcus
YSL Lash Clash Mascara $20.30, YSL Beauty
My quest for holy grail mascara continues and I have high hopes for this new mascara from YSL. This tubing mascara seems widely popular and there are some good color options as well. I have yet to find a tubing mascara that does not "uncurl" my lashes but I recently purchased Etude Mascara Fixer which I find a game changer. This seems to enable me to wear non-waterproof mascaras so I am excited to see the combination result of these two!
Tom Ford Fiber Brow Gel $47.60, Saks Fifth Avenue
Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Nude Dip $76.50, Saks Fifth Avenue
I finally crossed this off my wishlist!! I always wanted this ultimate cool-toned eyeshadow classic but never pulled the trigger because I own many similar palettes and there are always shiny new things that claim my makeup budget first. I love cool neutral eyeshadows and adore the Tom Ford Wet/Dry formula, so I just know that I will enjoy this quad a lot.
Narciso Rodriguez For Her Shower Gel $46.75, Bloomingdale's
Lancôme Hypnose Eyeshadow Palette Taupe Craze $36, Ulta
I can't say Lancôme eyeshadows excite me but I do like them a lot. I own 3 palettes in bright colors so I already know the quality is pretty great. This is totally unexpected and God knows I do not need another neutral taupe eye palette, but this was just $36 and I could not pass it up. Feeling quite excited about it, actually.
Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner Pencil Noir Insense $16.80, Ulta
If you don't know already, Lancôme makes one of the best eyeliners on the market. This is a great everyday basic at a great price! Also, do check out their Drama Liqui-Pencil, my other favorite from the brand. If you like liquid eyeliner, Idole Liner is pretty awesome, too.
COSRX AHA BHA Vitamin C Daily Toner $22, Ulta
I always keep a mild acid toner around for consistent yet non-invasive exfoliation and PIXI Glow Tonic has been my staple for years. I still have a bottle in my stash but wanted to try something new. This one looks promising. Ulta has this $10 off of $40 promotion going on (code THANKS23, for full-priced items).
La Roche-Posay Micellar Cleansing Water Ultra $18.99, Ulta
Wayne Goss F1 Angled Cheek Brush + Blush Palette Set $60, Beautylish
Beautylish is having a Black Friday sale pretty much for the first time and there are so many tempting deals (do check out the Tom Ford makeup bundles!!). I purchased this cheek brush right after it came out and it is one of the best brushes for blush application. This time, you get a free blush palette and Wayne's blushes are one of the best, too. It was a no-brainer for me.
Victoria Beckham Beauty The "On Holiday" Glow Set $91 (out of stock)
I think highly of Victoria Beckham Beauty but this is one of those brands I never pay full price for. But this has become a thing - I always purchase something from the brand around this time of the year. Some of the sets are already sold out but you get 20% off on top of the already discounted set price so this is an awesome deal. Her Bronzing Brick has been on my wishlist for a while and it did not disappoint. The highlighter stick is quite beautiful as well. I have swatched them and shared a makeup look here.
Peet’s Coffee 20% off sitewide
Last but not least, I stocked up on some coffee! Peet’s is one of my favorite coffee brands and I have been drinking their coffee for years now. In my opinion, their compatible espresso capsules taste much better than Nespresso. For drip coffee, I highly highly recommend Major Dickason's Blend. SO GOOD.
I've gathered up everything here just in case you want to see them in one place:
