Suqqu Nude Wear Liquid 101 Natural Ivory

I have recently talked about my not-so-successful foundation purchases here on the blog. Luckily, I have also found more than a few great foundations that suit my complexion. Suqqu Nude Wear Liquid 101 Natural Ivory is one of them.

Note this is the old version of Nude Wear Liquid. Suqqu has brought out the new version which is called Nude Wear Liquid EX. The renewed version is supposedly longer-lasting and it offers a wider color range. Both are still available on Selfridges but at the time of my purchase the lightest shade of the EX version was out of stock. (Selfridges can be annoying like that. Very often.) I wasn't looking for a long-lasting foundation so I went with the old version. After all, finding the right shade is the most crucial task when you buy a foundation.

This is the original Suqqu Nude Wear Liquid color chart. The shade 101 Natural Ivory is the lightest beige ochre with which I usually have great success.

And, this is the color chart of the new EX version. You can see there are more shades with different undertones included. The 110 shade would have been my match but it might be slightly darker than the 101 Natural Ivory color.

This consistency of this foundation is very liquidy so the separation occurs naturally. You have to shake the bottle each time. A dropper seems suitable for this liquid foundation that almost feels like serum. (Sorry, I failed to focus the right thing in this photo. And those spangles are looking so annoying...You can blame Ms. McGrath for that.)

As you see, the 101 Natural Ivory color is not an exact match to my skin tone which is rather neutral. However, a light ochre like this is a wonderful correcting shade for me. Suqqu Nude Wear Liquid provides light coverage but this ocher beige color evens out the ruddiness like a champ without ever looking heavy on the skin. If I add some concealer, it almost looks flawless thanks to the dewy luminous finish. This is exactly what I was hoping for!

I've seen some reviews that this foundation emphasizes pores and clings on dry patches, but thankfully I haven't experienced any of that. I can understand this foundation can be fussy because I myself find the finish can differ by miles depending on how I prep my skin. The type of sunscreen and primer that I wear underneath seems to affect the finish, too. Fingertip and synthetic foundation brush work best with this formula. I have had less luck with a sponge applicator. Set with loose powder, Nude Wear Liquid lasts fairly well on my normal/combination skin.

In a nutshell, it is a lovely foundation with breathable natural coverage and a beautiful finish. More than anything, I love that it feels great on the skin. I am not the one who relies on skincare benefits and SPF in foundations, but this one has a chockful of skin-benefiting ingredients and offers some sun protection as well. I will probably purchase the EX version once I run out of this.

Suqqu Nude Wear Liquid Foundation is available on Selfridges and Harrods.

  1. The color doesn't look precisely neutral but in fact looks cute and the shade is nice.

    1. True. The ochre shades are still yellow-based but kind of in between yellow and pink, so luckily it works for me well! :)

  2. I'd never heard of Suqqu as a brand until you blogged about the pure colour blush a few weeks ago, but they seem to do really nice products. Is the 210 in the newer version lighter and cooler? I think I'd have luck with that shade, and I really like long wearing foundations. Does it have more of a matte or dewy finish?

    1. I think I've mentioned this before but I have Selfridges+ (it's an international shipping fee program. I can get unlimited express deliveries from Selfridges for 1 year for $50) solely because it's the best way for me to acquire Suqqu stuff. That says a lot, right? I've found other couture brands such as YSL are much cheaper if I buy them across the pond, too. Anyway, Suqqu really does everything quite well and "refined sophistication" is the word that comes to me when I think of Suqqu. I think the UK price is better than fair for the quality you get! Do check them out when the things are back to normal. You can go to Selfridges or Harrods since you're based in London. I am jealous!!

I agree 210 would be a nice match for your cool-toned fair skin. From my own experience, Japanese liquid foundations tend to swatch a tad darker on the arm but on the face once blended in, the color appears a bit brighter. The finish of this foundation is very dewy (the liquid almost feels like serum + oil). Suqqu cream foundation seems to get all the raves, btw. But if you like semi-matte satin foundation that lasts for long hours, this one wouldn't be it. Actually, Givenchy Everwear is an excellent long lasting foundation with great color range (I will review this soon).

    2. Oh wow, that really says something about the brand. It is probably easier for me to go in store yes, but it's so busy I usually break out into a cold sweat, I think I'd even prefer to do what you do and just have it delivered. I'll definitely check it out though, especially at first just to sample some things.

I guess when blended it appears lighter? I usually use Estee Lauder's Double Wear but I'm looking for something a bit lighter and dewy for summer months. I suppose if the newer version is longer lasting it will be good to wear during the day, I only usually wear foundation during office hours as I go to the gym in the evenings (before lockdown).

Sorry, I missed the part in my original comment where you said paired with the concealer it has a dewy and luminous finish!

    3. No worries! I should probably section my beauty reviews like yours -it's much more user-friendly! :)

EL Double Wear is another great foundation range that I'd love to use for myself but always find it hard to find a good shade match. I hear many good things about the Double Wear Light and wonder how you'd like that since you enjoy the original line. When it comes to long lasting foundation, it's hard to beat Double Wear.

Since I haven't experienced the EX version, I don't know how long lasting it is. Although I have no issue with the wear time with Nude Wear Liquid, some do mention that it's not as long lasting. Do let me know if you end up testing these out. I'm always on the lookout for the next perfect foundation! :D
