Review & Swatch | Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Lipsticks

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Review Swatches

I have an epic swatch post for you today. Remember back in the day, Revlon Lip Butters were like the revolution of drugstore lipsticks and everyone was obsessed with them? I haven't looked at Revlon makeup for a long while, but these Glass Shine Lipsticks certainly evoke similar feelings. I initially bought 3 shades but quickly ordered another 3 because I was so impressed with the formulation! These lipsticks look and feel high-end and I really think Revlon hit it out of the park this time.

I purchased 6 colors mainly consisting of pinks and reds.

I have seen some reviews complaining that the safety seal on the lipstick case is too strong and it leaves very sticky residues behind. Surprisingly though, I myself have had no issue with it. Indeed, the glue used on the sticker is strong and it does leave the gooey residues behind, but all I had to do was resticking the removed sticker repeatedly back on the case and it caught the residues with no problem! Also, I have noticed that the few of them had much less sticky ones that left little to no residue behind. Revlon must have heard the complaints! You can also use some Duck Tapes or even Goo Gone in the worst-case scenario.

Personally, I prefer these secure seals, especially for safety and hygiene reasons. It also makes you think why Revlon ended up resorting to this, doesn't it? Maybe too many people are messing up the products for (unallowed) swatching. Maybe using these super stickers is cheaper than providing testers. Maybe both.

Anyway, this is a swatch post so let's look at some swatches!

The formulation is superb. It has a cushy jelly-like formula that is similar to higher-end glossy lipsticks such as Suqqu Extra Glow Lipstick, YSL Rouge Volupté Shine, and Rouge Bunny Rouge Succulence of Dew Lipsticks. The finish is consistently shiny and melty although a few felt balmier on the lips. It is scented with faint vanilla but quickly dissipates that it doesn't bother me at all (I usually dislike strong vanilla or cake batter scents in lipsticks). The colors last fairly well especially for its glossy nature and they feel so comfortable and hydrating on. Wearing them actually improves my lip condition!

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick 002 Beaming Strawberry swatch
002 Beaming Strawberry is a glassy pink lemonade.

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Fire & Ice swatch
005 Fire & Ice is described as a glassy hot pink-red, but it appears a beautiful and wearable coral on me.

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Fuchsia Gleam swatch
022 Fuchsia Gleam is a glassy magenta pink. For some reason, the strong blue undertone warms up a little once the color sets and it becomes a calmer medium pink.

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Cherries In The Snow swatch
004 Cherries In The Snow is a glassy fuchsia. This is such a pretty hot pink. This iconic color in the original creme formula is unwearable for me but I find this easy to wear and flattering.

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Love Is On swatch
017 Love Is On is a glassy cranberry red, according to Revlon. I would say this is a redder sister of Cherries In The Snow. Another beautiful color.

Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Glassy Ruby swatch
025 Glassy Ruby is a glassy deep ruby. To me, it is a sexy berry red.

Now, I will show you some comparison swatches for those with curious minds.

The Suqqu is slightly more berry but on the lips, they look very close and I'd say the formulas are compatible.

Again, these formulas are similar and wonderfully moisturizing. RBR Relish of Heaven is redder compared to Revlon Fire & Ice.

There you have it! I have been wearing these a lot simply because they feel so good on. I would have preferred a slender one but even the lipstick case feels sturdy and looking better than some of the more expensive ones. If you like sheer glossy lipsticks, definitely check these out! I am sure you will find a few that strike your fancy since there are a whopping 25 shades covering all sides of the spectrum. I bought mine on Amazon for under $7 each and am currently trying not to order more.

  1. Hmmmm tempted(gotta say the hot pink suqqu shades stole the show) ...I will need to google if they have some juicy coral.

    1. Fire & Ice in this formula is pretty much a coral but since you like corals with less pink, I think Glaring Coral or Glaring Red might be it. :)
