Holika Holika x Gudetama Lazy & Joy Collection

Holika Holika x Gudetama Lazy & Easy Collection review swatches
Holika Holika x Gudetama Lazy & Joy Collection

I mean, how cute is this..?! I love makeup with pretty packaging but animation or overly cutesy stuff is not my thing at all. Still, these gifted cuties made me squeal. I believe they are from the season 2 (called "Lazy & Joy") of Holika Holika x Gudetama collaboration which seems ongoing due to the popularity. I can clearly see why. It's not just the adorable exteriors. What's inside is pretty awesome, too.

Holika Holika is one of those "roadshop brands" in Korea and its price range is something equivalent to the U.S. drugstore makeup. Would you look at the details in the packagings, though! I do have an issue with the lipstick, but the eyeshadow quad and the blush compact both come in sturdy and functional cases. (And that's not even the point here.)

Holika Holika Lazy & Joy Cupcake Eyeshadow (Gudetama Edition) 01 Red Velvet

This particular quad was marketed as an affordable dupe of Chanel Candeur et expĂ©rience probably because of the reddish matte color. As you see, it is no dupe containing quite a few different shades not to mention at least two colors are shimmery where the Chanel consists of all mattes. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful palette and super easy to wear. Everything applies and blends like a dream. I am so impressed that the matte shades feel creamy and have virtually no fallout.

(No word. Let's just oogle...)

It is a cushiony-textured silicon blush and easily applies with the enclosed puff (again, so cute!),  which is the same thing you'd find in those cushion compacts.

Holika Holika Lazy & Easy Melting Lip Button RD01 Berry Marmalade

Cute as a button, literally. It is a very wet gloss stick of a sort and dispenses a little by little if you click the button on the other end. There is a reason why this is covered with the cute Gudetama cap, though. Once the bullet is out, it doesn't retract. The bullet is very soft and squishy that it smears inside of the cap if you're not careful. Having said all that, I'm fine with it because this is the most adorable lippie that I've ever owned and the color is pretty.

The lip color looks quite warm but it actually appears rather cool on me. It is glossy and hydrating yet relatively long lasting due to the staining color. The blush is a light peach with white base. I'm surprised to see the color is flattering on me. However, it is very sheer and disappears quickly.

Now, I put together a face using all three. I hadn't worn reddish eye makeup for so long (maybe not ever), so this was a refreshing challenge and I even liked the result. Interestingly, though, the look wasn't received very well by my SO. He thinks I look a bit sickly when I wear the eyeshadow quad. Too bad that I like it and all my female colleagues think it is a pretty color combo. Plus I wear tons of other stuff he likes, so (deal with it, man)

Have you tried any of the Holika Holika x Gudetama collaborations? What are your thoughts on the warm/reddish eye makeup trend?
