Review, Swatch - NARS 'Final Cut' Blush Sex Fantasy

NARS blush Sex Fantasy is oh-so-fine.
I have been wearing this blush nonstop ever since it arrived at my doorstep (well, actually to my doorman first, but I just love the expression).

NARS Blush Sex Fantasy

Sex Fantasy is a part of the "Final Cut" collection. This LE collection consists of various pink makeup in matte finish.

Sex Fantasy is the lightest and coolest shade from the collection.
I find NARS Blush descriptions are simple and always right down to the point, and Sex Fantasy is not an exception.
It is a "Pale Lavender Pink" according to NARS.

As a pink blush lover, I thought I had a similar shade somewhere in my blush box, but interestingly enough, I couldn't find any close dupe especially not in mattes.
Maybe I need more blushes in my life (sure, why not?), or NARS Sex Fantasy is a shade that everyone think it exists somewhere but is hard to find in real life.

I have only tried the shimmery shades from NARS blush range, so this powdery yet micro-fine texture is all new to me.
I think the difference in texture and amount of fallouts is inevitable coming from the use of different kind of pigments.
What is amazing to me is that this silky powder blush blends in seamlessly and the fallout is actually minimal considering it is a 100% matte shade.
It is definitely different from any other matte powder blush (chalks;) I've used before.

Color payoff wise, I expected some sort of "finisher", not the actual blush color.
However, NARS Sex Fantasy surprised me again by showing up clearly on my fair/light complexion, even looking slightly warmer than from the pan.

The finish looks slightly glowy in this closeup picture, but I can assure you the blush is completely matte.
I've been enjoying this "glowing base + matte blush" combo lately, which has quite a different effect from the other way around.

Here is an overall look with Sex Fantasy

Maybe the name "Sex Fantasy" is a little too much for this demure and quiet pink, but I definitely don't feel naive or girly wearing this color.
This also has rekindled my love for NARS blushes as I was reminded of their superior quality.
I just cannot object to their self claim "The Ultimate Authority in Blush", although I do find it a bit cocky. ;)

  1. I got the "new attitude" color from the final cut line but I guess I waited to long to get this one. I am still kicking myself....

I don't think I've ever gotten excited over a matte blush like this. ;)

  4. This blush didn't convince me when I first saw it - I thought it looked far too cool-toned, and I stayed completely away from the entire collection ("do I really need another blush" argument) BUT! This looks great on you - the dewiness is truly captured in the camera and you are making me regret not giving another look :)

    1. Aha, that argument which I seem to be defeated against every single time! LOL
I actually think this collection covers all complexions nicely except for lacking darker colors. ;)

  6. It looks so nice on you. The color reminds me of my dior healthy glow blush. I have been eyeing more of the coral range from final cute collection. How long does it last on you?

    1. Thank Anu!
Sorry I completely forgot to mention about the longevity. It actually lasts on me very well. The color does fade but I don't feel I need to reapply it or anything. Go for the coral-y shade! :)

  7. Hey Lena, this one looks pretty on you!!
I think we can never get too many pink blushes :p
I have tried several NARS blushes but I was not really convinced by them T.T

I actually know what you mean. There was a phase that NARS seemed to lose the lustre after a while. There were inconsistencies!
These mattes are however, very nice. ;)

  8. This shade is definitely a surprise for me, on your complexion it looks beautiful, such a glow but I'm scared of anything purplish, afraid it'd clash with my yellow undertones. I can see how smooth the powder is, it looks brilliant but it's so expensive I probably won't be spending on a high end blush!

    1. I thought it would look more purplish too! It is a beautiful pink and it warms up due to the sheer texture. ;)

  9. You look amazing, Lena! I didn't get anything from this collection because I have no faith in that packaging that melts. I know, people tell me they've changed it, but... I dunno *shrugs*

It is a shame you've had a bad experience with the package. I'm not a depotter myself and don't believe you should do it just because of the misbehaving case.
All the colors from the collection (plus the matte lippies) are quite lovely, though!

  10. Hey Lena, I'm glad to see some matte blushes in the NARS line-up (I have the impression that most of them are quite sparkling). This works so well with your skin tone! I'm relatively sure it'll be too pale and cool-toned for me though (especially as I transition into my summer shade)!

    1. Me, too! I love their shimmery shades but for some time they did too many glittery ones!
I think there are at least two shades from the collection that will strike your fancy, Sunny! ;D

  11. looks amazing on you. Love your combination of glowing base with this blush. I have the Bourjois healthy mix but my oily combo skin doesn't like it unfortunately. Wish I could carry cool-toned blush as well as you.

It makes such a difference. I used to wear matte base + shimmery blusher a lot.
I'm trying to use up my Healthy Mix foundation so I can move on to another one. It is a nice satin foundation for me, though.

  12. This is like the pinkier version of Sex Appeal, a light peachier blush from NARS that I think is now discontinued? Not sure - I saw it show up at our discount store and thought it was a shame if NARS did get rid of it. The quiet, demure shades can be so beautiful. Love the glow/matte combination!

    1. I think I've heard Sex Appeal was discontinued as well. Now the name makes sense, then!
I am afraid I want the good old Orgasm thanks to someone. Thy giveth back! ;p

  14. i actually love the name of this lol. can't really explain why. i wonder how sex fantasies ties in with cool pinks...best not wonder i think.
it looks great on you and it /does/ pull warmer than i would expect considering the in pan look.
mmmmm makes me want to swatch and see the rest of the blushes.

I myself is considering another one from the collection since it is so rare to spot a good quality matte blush.

  16. I'm actually very surprised to see this review of Sex Fantasy! Out of the Final Cut collection I'm sure most people gravitate towards the easier peachy shades... I said it before and I'll say it again, your taste in makeup is refreshing! Glad to hear it not only looks beautiful in the pan but on the skin as well.
