FOTD - Revisiting NARS Marie Galante

It was a very busy summer for me although I did manage to get away for a sweet vacation.
It was not a terribly hot summer, either. I did not get to wear all my summer dresses, is one proof of that(?).
Once I flip over my closet for sweaters and boots (and purchase a couple more coats), I know I will be alright.
The truth is I am still reminiscing about the summer, though.

This would be another example of my "Green Frog (a Korean folktale character - often used to describe someone who does everything the opposite)" personality, I had to bring out the most summer-esque eyeshadow colors when others are busy sporting deep autumn shades.
(Oh, I will get to them eventually. Just give me some time..)

Summer Eyes
NARS Marie Galante revisited

I don't think Marie Galante was all that well received in the blogosphere.
These beautifully shimmery colors don't show up as much due to the sheer pigmentations and the firm consistency.
I remember myself having no complaints because I knew exactly what I was getting at that time, and I still have no regrets.
To me, colors with sheer yet good quality pigments (I am not talking about chalky colors with mirky tones here) create much different effects compared to the ones densely packed with pigments (that often come in buttery soft texture).
Layered with a base, you can achieve more depths and enough dramas that is much like the water color paintings.
(I almost feel the same way about the euro version of Chanel quad, btw.)

Here, I simply applied semi-matte black pencil (L'Oreal Voluminous Smoldering liner in Black) underneath, then played with the two colors from Marie Galante.

I also went against another rule, "No blue eyeshadows for blue eyes".
(Wearing NEO Lucky Clover Blue contacts)
Maybe it works because they are fake blue eyes. I don't know. ;p

The products I used for this look

Hope you enjoyed this look.
How about you?
Does your heart sometimes tell you to go against the common makeup rules? ;)
