Swatch, Review - Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

Revlon brought out another great lippie line after the mega hit of Lip Butters.
This is called "Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain". I would say it is the evolved of Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm, which I suspect would be soon discontinued.

I snatched four of them from the fresh display taking advantage of the sale at that time, and I am reaching for them almost everyday lately. I might even say I like them better than my Lip Butters. ;O

from the Revlon site,
It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.

[My thoughts]
As some of you might know, I am into hybrid lippies like gloss stain and sheer lipsticks.
I love these balm stains for providing enough pigmentation with nice light finish.
It is actually perfect for summer! I mean who wants to wear sticky gloss or heavy lipsticks in this weather? ;)

Pros:
Affordable price (tarte, you have a serious competition for your LipSurgence here.)
Nice convenient packaging (They come in self-sharpening(?) retractable ends)
Good pigmentation overall
Non-drying & slightly glossy finish
Not sticky and feels light on lips
No strong scent or taste
Long lasting

Cons:
The packaging colors could be misleading.
They tend to turn darker in colors later on (as most stains do).
Not many interesting or original colors (I am being picky here, but I see Revlon recycled the popular colors yet again.)

I like to put these as lip base and top with a little bit of gloss or sheer lippies like L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm and it gives long lasting glossy finish I can mange with even on a very busy day.
I still love my tarte LipSurgence for their unique colors and more moisturizing softer consistency and I believe they are indeed two different products, but I can't deny the resemblance of the concept and packaging of these two and even more so about the huge price gap.

Overall, The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are excellent in both quality and affordability and  I highly recommend them. ;)

Thanks for reading!

  1. I love Honey and Smitten on you! Glad to hear you like these more than the Lip Butters. Revlon has certainly put out some lip products recently that are really popular!

  2. Lena, do you think that if I don't like the Tarte pencils, I won't like these? I actually find the Tarte pencils to be pretty drying. The colors you chose are so pretty, though, and very you!

  3. Honey and Smitten are EXACTLY the colors that I was searching for! Thank you so much for posting this review and the shades look lovely on you. :)

  4. Wow, you got 4! You're so lucky. Every time I see the display, it's emptied out except for maybe one color (or has those nasty ones that have obviously been opened and tested). I want at least one or two of these, hehe. Glad to hear you like them!

  14. I love these, especially the honey colour, it's such a natural colour, but it looks great on you. I have to agree that it's not particularly groundbreaking though. xD

  15. lena, i'm so happy to see a new post from you! hahaha i missed you girl. ok, i just tried the lip butters and now there's something else! hahahaha i've got to get the honey and smitten! looks good!

  16. i was wondering when you will post again!!missed you lena!
these look awesome..i wish i could get my hands on the honey one..i really like it.

  17. Oooh, I love Smitten on you :) Honey is a really wearable and flattering MLBB shade as well. I can't wait for these to hit our shores, though they'd probably be $21.95 (like the Lip Butters), and I'm not buying them at that price. I bought well into the Lip Butter hype, so I feel like I need to exercise some restraint when it comes to these :p They sound so promising though!

  18. I like these but don't love them as much as the lip butters.

    ReplyDelete
  19. what color do you have in this range? i am actually thinking about getting a couple more. ;p
i'd prefer the butters during the colder months since they feel so nice and moisturizing!

    ReplyDelete
  20. i still think that price is outrageous!!! i mean it's triple of the original price! i hope these will be avail at more reasonable price.
i will exercise more restraint myself and wait for the next sale if i want more of theses. ;p

    ReplyDelete
  21. Even better than the lip butters? I'll have to check these out! I like that you say they're long lasting too - the lip butters need to be reapplied so often. I love Honey and Darling on you Lena :)

  22. aww thank you, Debi!
i realized that yesterday was the last day of june, gasped and posted this in a hurry kinda..lol
honey color is very versatile and nice, but why do i think your natural lip color would be prettier? ^-^

    ReplyDelete
  23. hey Kim! hope you're enjoying your weekend. ;)
actually my favorite would be the smitten color and i really enjoy this. you should totally try these!

    ReplyDelete
  24. i love how light these feel on my lips and stay for a long time once set!
honey color is very subtle but gives a real nice base color that you can play with other gloss colors. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. they are already in the permanent display here. i think you will see them very soon! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. heheh thank you, Myrted! ;D

i haven't been excited about new products lately, but i am glad i got these and blogged about them!

  28. UK has nicer Revlon selections and campaigns, i think!
i can picture warmer and deeper colors would look fab on you! i wish a happy trip and hauling for you! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. love smitten myself!
it doesn't turn into fuchsia nor bleed. ;)

  30. my pleasures!
they are two of my favorites out of the four i got. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. you're welcome!
    i love smitten, too. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. do give them a try. they are perfect for the hot weather and pretty much hassle free. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. hope you find them soon!
they are nice affordable and perform very well. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. i know what you're saying! the display was literally cleared the next day when i went for more. ;p
but no worries, i see them placed in the permanent displays.
    hope you get yours soon!

    ReplyDelete
  35. you're very welcome, Wai! and thanks for visiting!

    ReplyDelete
  36. honestly, i think they are very different products. tarte ones feel more of chubby sheer lipstick for me although i see they do stain a little bit. revlon ones go one much thinner and harder in consistency. i think you might like them, actually. give them a try! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  37. thanks, Sunny!
i also think i picked the better colors in these than in lip butters.
i'd wear lip butters more often once the weather cools down, though.

i am happy with where Revlon is going for the past few years. now if they could get a mascara right...hmmm ;p

    ReplyDelete
  38. obviously they are very different but i prefer these stain balms at this moment.
you can actually use them together if you will since you can easily find similar and comparable shades in both. it would provide deeper colors that last! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oooh, I love how these are cute little chubby sticks. They look so pretty on you - especially Smitten!

i love chubby sticks, too. they are user-friendly! ;)

  42. I also think that the light colors are great for the summer. I haven't tried these yet, but woudl love to.

    ReplyDelete
  43. oh my the colors are so pretty! just perfect for summer!! I also prefer lipstick with light finish because it looks natural but has a tint of color within! Thanks for the swatches!! very helpful especially since the packaging might be quite misleading..

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks for the swatches! I've been curious about the colosr for Darling and Cherish.

    ReplyDelete
  45. my pleasure! i like Darling better. Cherish would look better in the spring but tend to look too "barbie" sometimes. hths! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. thanks, Janet!
they are slightly glossy in the beginning but never sticky which i love the most about them!
the tint afterwards is very long lasting as well. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. give them a try! i think you'd like them. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love that you've reviewed this, I do love a lip butter that smells good and does what it says too! Gorgeous summery colours too! Enjoy the summer sweetpea!

I never picked up the Revlon Lip Butters because I kept hearing that they didn't wear too well but I'm totally going to look into these after reading your review. It does sounds like an ideal product for the summer. I really like the colors you got and they all look fantastic on you Lena!

  50. These remind me of Clinique Chubby Sticks which I wasn't a big fan of (I think I'm the only one that doesn't like them lol) so I'm not too sure about trying these balms. I do really like the look of Honey on your lips though!

    ReplyDelete
  51. ah actually the packaging is almost identical to think about it! i haven't tried chubby sticks but i just got curious. lol
i think it would better to go for high end brands if this is going to be marked up like lip butters anyway. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. yesterday i tried layering this and a similar color of lip butter, and it worked out quite well!
i still prefer just wearing this or top it with sheer gloss or something, though.
thanks for your compliment, Rowena. hope you have a great holiday weekend! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. hope you're enjoying your summer as well.
do give it a try when you get a chance. it is very different from lip butters but nice! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oooh! This looks interesting. I didn't get the lip butters because I thought they were going to be overhyped and I was going to be disappointed. I did see this a couple days ago and thought about getting them since I have never used lippies that were applied like this. I love how honey looks!

    ReplyDelete
  55. between us, Laura, i agree lip butters are much hyped. they are really great products maybe even better than high end lipsticks, but i never thought they are so amazing enough to be marked up triple in some other country.
anyway, texture and wear of this lippie is awesome and perfect for the hot weather. try them! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  56. the lip colors are really pretty, reminds me of barbie!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks for the review, Lena! It reminds me so much of my Clinique chubby sticks, and I love those! Moisturizing & pigmented :) I'll have to take a look at these, especially if you love them more than the lip butters! Love the shades you picked.

I've been meaning to pick me up some of these! Your swatches are def. a big help .... thanks :D

    ReplyDelete
  59. hey, lena! how are you? hope you had a nice fourth! i've been meaning to read this post since i've seen it on FB, however, my dad's visiting, and it's been a struggle for me trying to catch up with my reading. i really did miss your posts... so it's nice to see you come back with a lip stain review. i really love sheer one... and am not really a fan of rouges. i really like the way honey looks on you... but the other shades would be great for for dressier events for me, maybe. i really hate that the shades can be mislead on the packaging... because i really hate buying a product thinking i got a certain shade... and it's not the color you thought it was... great review, lena. hope you're having a good summer so far, and have a good rest of the week!

  63. hi Jas! ;D good to hear from you.
i still don't feel like blogging as often as before but slowly getting back to it. blogging is fun nevertheless!
i think this lippie might be perfect for you. there are nice neutral colors in the range. they are non-trasfering & long lasting, too!
it must be nice having your dad visiting your family. hope you enjoy the weekend! ^-^

  64. i am glad you find this helpful, Donna! ;)
fyi, the swatch picks are taken before the colors get darker.

    ReplyDelete
  65. i wanna try those chubby sticks as well. they are actually identical in packaging, aren't they? ;)
as for lip butters, i think i'd loved them more if they hadn't been so hyped! ^-^

    ReplyDelete
  66. thanks!
the last shade especially looks quite barbie. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am absolutely loving Smitten and Honey on you - gorgeous shades! I love lip products that are moisturising, non-sticky and feels lightweight - I might have to check these out!

    ReplyDelete
  68. thank you!
i really like how light these feel on my lips. they don't make my lips peel of like some other lip glosses i tried, either. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. the honey looks very good. I don't mind the lack of innovation in color as long as i like the texture, color, staying power.
