On top of the large summer collection, Dior has introduced yet another limited-edition collection with the "Cannage" motif from the iconic Lady Dior bag patterns. This collection is comprised of 4 neutral eye quints, a new mascara, and liquid eyeliners.
The biggest attention draw would be the fancy packaging. I actually give Dior a brownie point for building a new mold for a new eyeshadow case. It is made of hard plastic with a matte grainy texture, which might be a disappointment to some who wanted it to be "leather". I find it just fine and rather neat and practical. I always like seeing the connection between beauty and fashion when it comes to couture makeup.
Dior 5 Couleurs Couture "Cannage" Eyeshadow Quints ($71, Nordstrom)
First of all, I want to talk about the formula. For some reason, more than a few people including content creators seem to believe this is a brand new formula, but it is not. The product description on the formula is identical to the one on the existing Dior eyeshadow quints. Nowhere on the official website, Dior is saying this is a reformulated new formula.
Technically speaking, every shade is different. The ingredients including the kind of fillers, shimmers, and pigment decide a formula, which is precisely why you find multiple ingredient lists on the cardboard. Having said all that, I do believe Dior is silently tweaking their talc-free formulas and I've noticed there are at least a couple of variations. But is this a new formula? No. It does not feel vastly different from the existing formula although it is quite nice. These days, I try to keep things simple and to the point, but I guess it irks me when these so-called influencers/experts talk out of their bums without the simplest research for their content.
647 Silk Taupe ($71, Sephora)
Silk Taupe is a versatile and neutral classic. The matte and the satin shades feel especially creamy and blendable. I find the center and the lower left shades as the main and depending on what you use more, you can change the tone quite a bit, and I really like that. I still prefer the OG Soft Cashmere or New Look palettes for my go-to smokey eye looks, but this one gives me a more subtle and feminine vibe.
857 Rose Organza ($71, Macy's)
Rose Organza is a very soft and feminine pink palette. I don't usually love pink eyeshadows and the color story and the formula remind me of the gazillion Kbeauty eye palettes out there, so I don't feel this adds a lot to my collection. If you love pink eyeshadows, this is rather impeccably curated. The mattes and the satins feel creamy and the shimmer is ethereal and beautiful.
And here are 2 makeup looks I created using Silk Taupe and Rose Organza:
