Chanel has a brand-new lipstick collection out - Rouge Allure Velvet Nuit Blanche. It is probably the hottest luxury lipstick at the moment. This collection celebrates the night hours consisting of 8 new limited edition shades. However, the biggest draw would be the chic black and white packaging. I picked up 4 shades from this collection. Please keep on reading for my review and swatches.
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Nuit Blanche ($50, Chanel)
As per the theme - a celebration of the nightlife and each hour of the night - the names of the 8 lipsticks are actually "the hours". It starts from 00:00 (a rich red) and ends at 07:00 (a fresh pink). The theme is quite whimsical and even clever and the limited edition white matte lipstick case with black trims is enough to excite makeup collectors!
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Nuit Blanche Coffret ($100, Chanel)
There are a couple of sets with pre-determined shades available in this collection. I have seen a 4-color set from a couple of UK retailers but only a duo set from the US Chanel. The shades 00:00 and 06:00 come in a very well-made cardboard box. There is no additional cost for this set but since the exterior is made of cardboard, it is more of a gift item, not a collectible item.
00:00 is "a sienna red" with a complex undertone that would look great on many different skin tones.
05:00 is "a purple" but more of a wearable magenta/berry once applied. My favorite pick!
06:00 is "a burnished rosewood" that is a sophisticated mauve brown.
07:00 is "a fresh pink" that looks indeed very fresh on the lips. This one is sheer and has more slip compared to the other shades.
I kind of hoped that Chanel would tweak the Rouge Allure Velvet formula and make it even better, but no, that is not the case. What is new is the gorgeous packaging and the 8 limited edition colors and you get the same classic lip formula which is actually one of the best in the market.
Overall, another great on-point Chanel collection. The colors are rich and chic and they come in this collectible packaging and the beloved Chanel lipstick formula. I would highly recommend this collection.
