DIOR | Fall 2023 Makeup Collection

Dior is offering a very typical color story for the Fall 2023 season - nudes and browns. Initially, I thought I would skip this collection but this is Dior makeup we are talking about. Typical and redundant it may be, but the collection is so well done not to mention it is embossed with beautiful sweater patterns. Plus Dior has reformulated the nail polishes and added a brand-new lip formula so I caved in and picked up a couple of items. I still secretly want the eyeshadow quints but I could not justify buying another reddish-brown palette. Talk about self-control, you guys.

Dior Rouge Blush 537 Grand Bal Satin ($45, Dior)

This is such a gorgeous shade. It is a rich rosewood with a burnt orange undertone in a satin finish. There is another "Grand Bal" shade in the Rouge Blush core collection so I thought it might be the same shade but only specially embossed, but after comparing the stock photos side by side, most likely they are different shades. They also have different numbering and the regular Grand Bal has a "shiny" finish according to Dior.

This is very well-pigmented and has the most gorgeous satin finish. Blending is a dream with it and you can control the color intensity so easily. This is a very unique shade in my crowded blush collection so I am quite happy with it. I'd highly recommend this blush. I am not even into colors like this but I love it. 

Dior Vernis 746 Rouge Atelier ($30, Dior)

I almost never wear brown nail polishes but I had to have this one. Such an amazing color with refined shimmers! Imagine the 90s brown nails but updated.

Dior is claiming that this new formula has "skin-caring" ingredients and the sarcastic side of me can only laugh about it because technically, our nails are dead skin. I was never keen on the Dior Vernis formula or the brush but the new version definitely has a better brush that feels more flexible. 

I will have to try this a few more times for a verdict, but I suspect the new formula is not as long-lasting (not that the previous formula was particularly long-lasting) because I had some tip wears earlier than usual and one of my nails chipped. I have very healthy even nail beds (thanks, Mom) and nothing really chips on me, so this is a bit disappointing. However, kudos to Dior for not raising the price after the reformulation!

Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Lacquer 200 Nude Touch ($45, Dior)

Dior has a new long-lasting liquid lipstick formula and it is shiny! 

You are supposed to shake the bottle well before use. The liquid formula is easy to apply with the doe foot applicator.

It is indeed a very interesting and innovative lip formula, especially in the Western market. The color is saturated, the formula feels comfortable on the lips, and the shiny finish lasts! The only downside is that it becomes a bit sticky after a while but it is not too uncomfortable. I picked up 200 Nude Touch and it goes very well with the rest of the pieces I chose from the collection. I might try a few more shades.

Overall, I am very happy with what I picked up from the collection. I have some reservations about the new nail formula but now they have a lot more shades available and all are gorgeous. The new liquid lip formula is surprisingly good. The LE blush is a stunner as well and I'd recommend grabbing it before it's gone.
