Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Créme 35 Rose Topaz

Tom Ford Rose Topaz Eye Color Quad review swatches

Tom Ford has finally brought out an excellent new eyeshadow formulation - Crème! This hybrid cream-to-powder formula is supposed to mimic our skin's natural ceramides so the colors stay on and blend better. There are 3 different quads offered this time (Rose Topaz, Tiger Eye, and Smokey Quartz) but all of them look very basic and maybe a little bit too safe that I almost passed on this release. Turns out the formula is indeed great and different enough that it warrants adding another neutral eyeshadow palette to my already large collection.

Rose Topaz is the cool-toned palette out of the three. Although super basic, these 3 palettes cover across the spectrum (Tiger Eye is a shimmery warm palette whereas Smokey Quartz contains all matte sultry shades). Except that the whole color story isn't all that rosy, I am happy with the composition as it offers different textures as well.

All colors in this palette swatch amazingly. As you see in the photo, the texture is really creamy and the colors are evenly pigmented.

The star of the show is actually the deepest charcoal color. It is probably the best quality dark that I own. It is surprisingly hard to find good dark in a matte finish yet this color is like everything - pigmented, smooth, and very blendable without becoming mirky. The shimmery taupe is also quite beautiful. Traditionally, it would be a glimmery topper shade but thanks to the creamy base, it can be easily used as the main lid shade and it is my favorite way to wear this quad.

I have made some comparisons. None of them is a dupe of anything and the finish and the texture are so different anyway. I love them equally but the new Rose Topaz is probably the easiest to use.

Now, these new eyeshadow quads are available at all major retailers. I purchased mine from Nordstrom. I don't think I would pick up another quad right away but would love to see some interesting color stories in this particular formula. The formula really is what makes the difference.

I have made a review video with a makeup look:

Thanks for being here. Have you tried the new Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Crème for yourself?

    1. It is surprisingly hard to find good matte in dark colors and I am very very happy with this one! And thanks for suggesting it - I was thinking about featuring some of the not-so-new stuff on the blog as well as on YT. :D
