Chanel Rouge Allure Laque

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque review swatches

The Chanel Rouge Allure Laque ($40, Chanel) has finally launched in the U.S.! I have been so curious about them ever since last autumn when they were first introduced in the Asian market. I have to say they didn't disappoint! I initially bought 2 colors but ended up ordering 2 more because I really like the comfortable long-lasting formulation. I have a feeling that I would add more shades to my current collection, but first let me show what I have.

The packaging is simple and beautiful. It is the same as Chanel Rouge Allure Ink or Rouge Allure Ink Fusion but with the glossy ombre exterior. The color shows through the bottom so it is convenient to pick up the colors you want. The tube is small and feels substantial in the hand.

Chanel describes that it is "the first liquid lipstick that combines satin shine and ultra-long wearing colour from morning to night" and "the formula provides a lasing sensation of suppleness and comfort".

I cannot vouch for "up to 12 hours of shine" or "up to 8 hours of comfort" as Chanel boasts, but I agree that it does feel very comfortable and the colors are indeed long-lasting. Once set, it is pretty much transfer-proof that I can wear a mask with little to no issue. It is also easy to reapply since the color fades gradually and evenly, which is a big plus for me.

I studied quite a few online swatches before I placed my order but in this case, the actual colors still surprised me. I think it is partially due to the somewhat translucent formulation that lets your natural lip color peek through. And, when it comes to liquid lip colors, I always prefer to wear a thin layer with my lip lines slightly smudged for a natural look. It is a buildable formula and the pigment is clear that you can easily achieve a fully defined look as well.

It is a pinky nude with a bit of a warm undertone on me. It is a perfect shade to pair with deep smokey eyes and strong blush. I was surprised to see this color appears more nude on me because I've seen it pulls very pink on some of the warm-toned folks.

This color is another surprise for me because I thought it would be a straight-up cool pink. On me, it is a very brightening coral pink. I think it is a youthful color that anyone can enjoy.

It is a versatile neutral red. The clear base makes this color more wearable than other red liquid lip colors that I have.

I believe this is the main shade what the model is wearing in the promo image. It is a beautiful plummy cherry which is popular in the current trends. I enjoy similar colors and wear them often, so this was a no brainer.

I guess my swatches are on the sheer side but as always, I wanted to show you how I wear them in real life. As I mentioned, you can certainly go for more intense looks by simply applying a bit more. For that, I find these new lip colors from Chanel versatile and all-around excellent despite the rather steep price.

So far, Chanel.com is the only online source where you can buy them. Each of them is priced at $40. There is a set that consists of Exigence, Invincible, and Timeless as well. I still think that in-person swatching at the counter would be best for Rouge Allure Laque, but it can be difficult in the current situation. I hope you find my swatches helpful if you're shopping for these new lip colors from Chanel.
