You might think Suqqu is all about those elusive limited editions but you'd be surprised to find so many elegant and easy-to-wear selections in their core lineups. I have put together a neutral makeup look that is appropriate for any occasion mainly using the Suqqu makeup in my possession. All colors used in this look are from the permanent collections. I have reviewed most of them here on the blog except for the lip gloss. These are sophisticated everyday shades that would suit many different complexions. I think it might be a good idea to look at their core lines first if you're new to the brand.
I started with a light luminous base using Suqqu Nude Wear Liquid in Natural Ivory (reviewed). I have the old one (still available on Selfridges) but there is a new improved version with more color selections. It is a great everyday foundation that blurs and evens out the complexion sans heavy coverage. I think I am reaching for it more often these days. I didn't set it with loose powder in this look.
For the eyes, I used Suqqu Designing Eyes 01 Yuushakuyaku which is an awesome cool brown quad (reviewed). It is known as a "less metallic and easier-to-wear" alternative to Tom Ford Nude Dip. I personally think the finishes are different enough to warrant owning both, but I'd go with the Suqqu if I have to choose one.
I am wearing Suqqu Pure Color Blush 06 Harusumire (reviewed) on the cheeks. This is probably the best foolproof powder blush formula that I have tried. I have more than a few colors and although pigmentation might vary, it always applies seamlessly and layers well without ever being chalky. This particular color leans cool but not icy. Such a pretty and natural pink.
On the lips, I am wearing Suqqu Flawless Lip Gloss 09 Shizukubotan. This is a sheer gloss that is more slippery than tacky. The feel is rather perfect and this is how I like my lip gloss. The square tube is sturdy and elegant and it comes with a flexible doe foot applicator. For reference, the formulation reminds me of Chanel Glossimer which is my other fave but Suqqu Flawless Lip Gloss is more lightweight. There is no discernible scent nor taste. I am wearing the gloss by itself but it layers beautifully on top of lip tint as well.

Damn...I didn't know it's that affordable on Harrod.Anyway I am eyeballing the aqua glosses from Lunasol (sold out on Amazon jp), if I can't get a hold of it I will get Chanel fraicheur...
ReplyDeleteThe US prices on Selfridges and Harrods are about the same. Too bad Harrods doesn't have that global shipping program although if you buy more than a few, the shipping pays itself. Harrods seems to have better stocks but it hasn't even gotten the summer collection which makes me believe that Selfridges has a better relationship with Suqqu UK... I wish I could cherry-pick! ;p
DeleteYuushakuyaku and Harusumire are among my very favorites. Looks beautiful on you! I had the old version of Nude Wear Liquid, but I bought the cream foundation recently, so repurchasing NWL has to wait..

Thank you, Laura! I have heard so many good things about the Suqqu cream foundation and I plan to try it for myself. It seems it is received even better than the NWL. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on them! :)
DeleteI love these easy to wear make up looks. On a day-to-day basis I don't really wear much make up to work, so something like this is what I gravitate towards. Yuushakuyaku sounds like the perfect quad, cool browns suit most people I think, and they're not as dramatic as brighter colours or black, it helps it has a subtle finish too!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking you'd enjoy Yuushakuyaku. This is such a versatile and useful eyeshadow palette and with probably the most elegant finish. It is something I'd choose to wear to work myself but it goes really nicely with bright bold lips as well. :)
DeleteYou look so pretty, this is such a stunning makeup look. That ombre blush is beyond beautiful xo

Thanks so much! I would highly recommend the whole Pure Color blush range. Harusumire is one of the best pink blushes. :)
