Looks with Chanel Signe Particulier Quadra

I have been playing with this quad for a few weeks now, and as promised in the swatch post, I want to show some looks created with Chanel Signe Particulier.
Admittedly, it wasn't as easy to figure out the best way to wear this quad (for my eyes anyway). Signe Particulier doesn't have the buttery texture and blendability as Harmonie du Soir, for example. Which means it has the harder/sheerer quality that somewhat reminds me of the old baked formulation. I happen to appreciate the rock hard formulation of the old baked quadras (documented here), so this finding doesn't change my positive opinions on Signe Particulier. It just took me a little time to figure things out.

The first look is my take on one of the suggestions presented on the Chanel website. The main shade here is the gold.

1. Prime lids with hydrating base and apply the gold all over blending well.
2. Using a tapered blending brush, apply the light taupe color along the sockets. This creates a bit of depth and definition to the eyes.
3. Brighten the inner corners using the light shimmery lilac.

In real life, the gold color shows up plenty but not so much in the picture.
I'm starting to wonder how much eyeshadows are needed for those Instagram-esque pictures.

I think this pairs well with simple red lips.
Here I'm wearing Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss Pirate.

The second look I tried here is a muted smoky softly accented with the gold shade on the lower lash lines.

1. Apply the darkest plum color on the lid space. (I have small lids so this becomes thick liner of a sort.)
2. Blend out the harsh edges using the light taupe shade. Blend even more using a clean brush.
3. Line lower lash lines with the gold shade.

Maybe it is the result of vigorous blending, but the dark plum color appears more purple on my skin when used without a cream base.

As you see in this overall picture, the gold is not the blingy kind yet still adds a soft gleam and warms up the entire look.
The lip color is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Romance.

The third look is another smoky but with more of a traditional placement.

1. Apply the light taupe color all over the lids.
2. Contour the outer V using the dark plum shade.
3. Brighten and blend further more using the pale lilac.

Soon after I tried and documented these three looks, I came up with the best version (so far) using all four colors from the quads. I do not have the pictures yet, but maybe I will sneak that in my next post or something.

But, bottom line? You can wear Signe Particulier whichever way you want. The quad indeed is versatile.

Thanks for looking!
Hope everyone has a good start of the week.

  1. It must be fun to do eye makeup with such an awesome eye shape. Thanks for these looks. I love your tutorials. By the way I did the nail one recently with my pared down collection. Glitter on lilac on nude is interesting.. It was super fun!

    1. My pleasure, Joan! Happy to hear that the negative space nail thing serves you well. I'm going to try a pale lilac shade next. With gold glitter, it would be so pretty!
Our eye shades are similar from where I see. Do let me know how these eyeshadow placements work out for you. :)

  2. So beautiful!! I swatched this palette at London duty free last week and was really close to get it *__* then I remembered I just bought an eye shadow trio from Suqqu that is quite similar in terms of shades, lol. Seeing your looks, now I am contemplating again whether I should get this one? *temptation...temptation*

Btw, I agree with you! I always wonder how much make up is actually needed for those Instagram pictures. They all look so vibrant and perfect, I also wonder what camera they use! it's like all zits and bumps and blemishes are gone. LOL.

    1. Thank you, Pam!
If you have a Suqqu palette with similar colors, maybe you'd want to skip this one. It definitely needs a creme base to reach its full potentials, is what I see (speaking of creme shadows, I really appreciated your tip on Instagram regarding the H&M one. I'm going to hunt it down!).
My guess is that those Instagrammers definitely use photoshop to smooth and even intensify colors by playing with saturation. Fun to look at (well, not really), but definitely misleading!

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Raimar!
I'm pretty sure I can find similar shades individually if I dig deep in my stash, but having nice coordinating colors in one palette is really handy! :)

  5. I love the looks you created and I haven't tried any Chanel quads as every time I go to the counter, all the quads seem dried out and not very buttery. I assume that's because it is out on display. The gold color is such a nice add on to the purple-family shades.

Well, before the half-baked ones like this came along, I believe Canadians got the same ones as the European ones, which were quite dry and never buttery to begin with. LOL. The U.S. site still offers the ones with square pans. They are quite buttery. If you like the sorts, maybe you'd want to try them (or their singles & duos).
Colorwise, Chanel still is one of the best in my book. :)

  6. the gold color totally looks intimidating inside the quad but on your eyes, it gives off such a subtly glamorous gleam. You always come up with such pretty eye looks Lena!

It's good to know that you've had such a good experience with the Hada Labo line. This gel cream is my first product and it seems quite promising :)

The gold is deep but not gaudy at all. I'm actually glad about that. :)

I love this particular gel creme, but probably buy the original Japanese version which is identical yet come in a huge jar (same price, too). ;D

  7. I adore all three looks that you came up with, Lena and despite my initial reservations about the shades in this quad, you definitely proved it to be very wearable. And I am with you about the intensity of the eye makeups that we see on IG accounts, I've always wondered how much eyeshadow are they wearing because mine never look that intense despite my best efforts!

This quad is very wearable and the color payoffs are on the "sophisticated" side. I think some dismiss them being sheer and not as blendable, though. To me, something like these is much preferable because I often base with cream shadows then work with powder shadows.
Regarding those IG style makeups, I'm guessing many even use pure pigments to create such looks.
Nowadays it's quite difficult to find blogs that show "real life" makeup looks, which I will continue to try my best to bring out there. :)

  9. I keep saying myself that one day I'm going to buy a Chanel eye shadow palette!

The colours look gorgeous on you. I've always wanted to rock purple/lavender eye shadow shades but they never end of looking good on me. A part of me thinks it's my eye shape but deep down, it's because I suck at applying eye shadow LOL.

    1. Hey, Valentine!! How are you? I miss your posts. ;(

I think everyone needs to come up with an individual application method because we all have different eye shapes. Nowadays, I pretty much ignore what's suggested on the leaflets inserted in eyeshadow boxes (well, if it is an Asian one, I pay a bit more attention, but still...).
But one thing for sure is that any color would work if we blend it well enough! ^-^

  11. I'm drooling over these colors. Wow, you're seriously like the master of that perfect dewy skin. I'm totally jealous. I always end up looking shiny, which is not very cute, haha.

    1. Haha, thank you! I think it's mostly the bright lighting and my trustee lying camera.
I'm starting to appreciate my facial oil more. Dewy and shiny are not much of different things. ;D

  12. The third lipstick! Any I couldn't find the name in this post...Is it another chanel? I think I need another sheer and glossy lipstick!

    1. LOL. I couldn't remember what I was wearing right away, so I didn't mention it.
I think it was a combination - Deborah Lippmann Sexy Back + HABA Diamond Lip Gloss. I like DL lipsticks, but I have a feeling you wouldn't like the package. It's very "meh". The lip gloss was a GWP but nothing special. ;)

  13. Well, duh....I mentioned in your older post saying I like the color and finish but I only pay highend for pretty tubes. Maybe I will go for a coral red when I have a chance(when the sale is tempting enough)I have way too many lip color that either are cool-pink red or ended up looking cool pink-red...I need to stop.

    1. I see DL lipsticks as mid-end ones. I also have my suspicion they are made by the same manufacturer who makes MAC (no proof or anything, though). They are like MAC Lustre only slightly more hydrating.
Beauty.com has sales on the all the time. Maybe you wanna check out their mini sets when they are on sale. :)

  16. Beautiful, Lena! I especially love that third look, with the exaggerated liner at the end. Perfection!

I'm not a fan of Chanel quads, and purples are hard for me! But I think purple and gold can be really classic. I have a dusty orange I want to play with soon...but I haven't been in the mood to get glammed up, haha!

    1. Aw, thank you, Larie! <3
I am sure I already have every shade somewhere, but they never come work together unless they are all tucked in one palette. I think I like that the most about this quad. I've been reaching for Lunasol palettes almost exclusively. The shimmer is so perfect for "daily glamour"! ;)

  17. Gorgeous, Lena! I think the second and third looks are my fave, and you look like a beautiful ballerina princess badass mofo with your hair up in a bun! Also, I second this so hard: "I'm starting to wonder how much eyeshadows are needed for those Instagram-esque pictures." I'm thinking at least three times the normal amount one would apply for regular life, LOL! It's crazy! Lots o' love!

You're so cute. Laughing out loud at "ballerina princess badass mofo"!! Wha..?? ;D I love my donut hair and even think about getting a bigger one. Hahaha.
I think I want makeup that looks pretty in real life, so no matter how much I want to use up all my eyeshadows and blushes, I don't think I'd try that. ;p
