Chanel Le Vernis 525 Quartz

Chanel Le Vernis 525 Quartz

This spring I have been quite content in "the beauty department". I haven't bought whole a lot but I feel happy with the select few that I picked up. Browsing and virtual swatching (the "scheming") is the funner part of all this, and the joy is doubled to find out your deliberate choice actually works out on you. Also, these recent months have been abundant in amazing blogsale deals (one example here) and surprises from a generous swap package.

Liz of Beauty Reductionista (who is currently hosting a giveaway) kindly gifted this beauty to me. Chanel Le Vernis Quartz is a complex shade yet Chanel merely described it as a "silver beige", which is not too far off, but come on.

It is like the best taupe, okay? A shimmery taupe with silver grey and a tinge of green that looks perfectly neutral on the nails. Chanel Le Vernis Quartz was promoted as a fall shade, but I see it as an all-season color. (Maybe not in the middle of winter, because shimmery neutrals don't look the best on dry hands.)

The consistency is about the same as other Chanel nail polishes I've tried. It covers evenly with two coats and dries rather fast. Quartz is a shimmery metallic color but not exactly a foil, so those dreadful brush strokes aren't there. The staying power is about average - 5 to 7 days on me before the tip wears start to show.

I love the color so much that I wish I had an eyeshadow in the same color. Or maybe I do; the long-discontinued Chanel Vega. Again, Chanel was so wrong in getting rid of this utterly beautiful taupe. I might start a petition for a repromotion for Vega. Mine is old and dying so I will soon need a replacement. Chanel Ombre Essentielle Safari and Taupe Grisé are close but they are not Vega. Repromote!!

Hope you enjoyed this taupe (silver beige) deliciousness.

Do you wear shimmery taupe on your nails?

  1. Hey Lena, Quartz is such a beauty! I don't think I have anything similar, although I do own Safari. It doesn't look that cool on me tho, which is a good thing because anything that's too grey isn't very flattering on my skin tone.

    1. Safari is similar but warmer and Taupe Grisé is too purple and darker. I really want to have a backup of Vega cause I see it as an ideal taupe for me. I didn't expect I'd have a matching nail polish, though. So happy with this nail polish! :)

  2. Wow! Yes, this is the best taupe polish I've seen. LOL at "scheming" online! Swatch hunting safaris are really quite fun and exciting! :)

I don't shop at stores much any more. Mostly it is online shopping, and surprisingly, I haven't returned anything in a while. I must have gotten really good at this! LOL

    1. I know you're not big on nail polishes, but any taupe eyeshadow would look stunning with your fierce blue eyes. :)

  5. wow Quartz is such a beauty!! The shimmer is so fine ^^
I don't think I own similar shades as I am not really a fan of shimmery nail polishes, they look weird on my nails. lol.
It's great that Chanel nail polish could last so long on you! They always chip on me within 2-3 days no matter what top coat I use :/

    1. Many complain about Chanel formula. The chipping issue seems to be common. Lucky for me, nothing really chips on my nails. I hear it is very important to choose right base coat with Chanel, too. The application was very easy but I like Quartz for its shade more than its formulation. :)

  6. I love taupe shadows but don't usually gravitate towards taupe on nails, this looks nice on you though! Maybe I'll rethink this and check out some taupes for nails next time :)

    1. Yeah, I don't own too many neutral shimmery nail polishes like this. Maybe a few champagne beige colors, but nothing in taupe. This color looks very fetching on medium length nails. :)

  7. This is stunning Lena!!! I've never seen a polish like this before but then again I'm not really a polish lover and so I don't often look for new and trending colors! I totally love the finish of this polish, it's super gorgeous!

I love the finish of this polish, too. It's not too over the top but still noticeable in an elegant way. :)

This isn't the kind of nail color I'd spontaneously reach for personally, but seeing it on your nails it looks really pretty.

  12. So glad you like it! Taupes don't do anything for me and this did show up as sort of just "silver beige" on me, lol. I thought it was an elegant Lena shade and you were enjoying Chanel so much lately. :)

Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift. I'm enjoying everything from your package, and you will soon hear more about them here! :D
