Tatcha Skincare

It is no secret I am totally smitten with this niche luxury skincare brand. After experiencing The Discovery Kit, I did not hesitate to purchase full sized items. It has been full 4 months with Tatcha, a truly indulgent time for my skin that is, and I have used up everything except for a few.
Normally I'd get anxious to try new things especially near the end of a regimen when the excitement is well gone and my skin doesn't seem visibly better probably because it is already used to it.
However, this time is different. I am seriously considering to repurchase the whole line right away, which is something that I almost never do.  Plus I do have some other skincare items in my hand to try. I know what Tatcha skincare does and how my skin reacts to it (maybe too well at this point), but rather than being bored with it, I feel like continuing with it.

It is still a decision to make, but I want to recap my experience with Tatcha regardless, and briefly review a couple more items I've tried yet haven't had a chance to talk about .

My opinion on Tatcha's core offerings stays the same as my previous gloss over, or maybe I've grown to like them even more after time.

Undoubtedly, The Ritual Discovery Kit is a wonderful way to explore the brand, but if you feel that you have more faith, I'd highly recommend going for full sized Pure Cleansing Oil and Polished Rice Enzyme Powder. They are long lasting and well worth the money. I'm only down to half the jar of my enzyme powder. I've used this twice daily for three months now (without experiencing any irritation, by the way). I find the screw top lid of the jar simple and much easier to use unlike the mini jar which doesn't glide shut smoothly like the full sized one. The 5 oz cleansing oil bottle has lasted for 3 months with daily use since it requires only a small amount to get the job done.

Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream is my other favorite. I started with a mini jar then I received multiple samples with my purchase. Normally I hate to deal with sample packets, but I made sure to use them all because I started seeing difference right away. It is rich but not greasy, so perfect under makeup. And it works wonders overnight smoothing and plumping up the delicate eye area. For an eye cream skeptic, it was a nice surprise.

Luminous Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask is hands down the best sheet mask I've ever put on my face. You know, I've tried many different ones having a Korean mother who sends them to me every so often. They are all nice but the same, which is why I never talk about them on the blog. So naturally I was ready to conclude this luxury sheet masks weren't that different.
I was so wrong. Let me just say that (and that I want 53 of Luminous Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask every year).

Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is the latest addition to my Tatcha regimen. It is milky and hydrating without being sticky. Interesting that it is scented with something light and herbal (almost Chinese medicine like) while others are scented with a very delicate floral (camellia). For me, this functions as a super toner that calms down and pre-hydrates my skin in the morning, although this can be used to set makeup. I use about 3 sprays right before applying the Serum. Surprisingly it lasts for a long time, but honestly? It breaks my heart everytime I spray this on my face not to mention I sometimes clumsily spray this precious water in the air.

I have to note that Tatcha regimen has done a commendable job keeping my skin flake and breakout free all winter, and that is really something especially when I think about the kind of winter we had here in NYC.

How about you?
Any skincare that has left a great impression on you lately?

    1. You won't be disappointed. To think about it, I never liked so many different things from one brand, but I can't think of anything I dislike from the range.

  2. I die every time someone posts a Tatcha review. One of these days I'll have to eat the shipping fee and order a few things! I'm surprised to hear the Dewy Skin Mist smells like herbal medicine (like hanyak, the black soup thing?) - that one is high on my list along with the eye cream. Sephora carries a couple of items now so I'm hoping they'll add the rest eventually. :)

    1. It is a good sign that Sephora has started carrying some finally. We've discussed this on Twitter briefly, but it would be nice to see a big retailer like Nordstrom carrying Tatcha.
One thing I've noticed is that the founder does not hurry to expand. It is supposed to be a niche anyway.

And yes, the mist is somewhat like hanyak, but not as strong as you find from some of the Korean brands (Sul Hwa Su, for example). It is quite faint.
I think you'd like the Supple cream and the serum a lot, too. :)

  3. Like Liz that shipping fee up here is ugh! I wish Sephora would start carrying more of the line!

    1. I hope so, too. :)
It seems Canadian regulations are quite strict so it is best if they can be shipped locally.

  4. Oh you just gave me another reason to try Tatcha.. I've been wanting to try it but have not yet caved it because it's not easily accessible for those who reside outside the US.. The facial mist and rice enzyme powder are the 2 items I want to try the most.. I wish Sephora US would carry more items from Tatcha ^^
I've been using the collagen cream from Etude House which I surprisingly like, it is affordable as well hehe. The Innisfree Jeju Eye Cream has been on duty as well :)

    1. Oh you got some solid skincare products! I've heard nice things about them especially about the eye cream.
I doubt that this brand will become global like Lancome for example (that does not seem the brand's philosophy anyway), but I do hope it will become more accessible in the future.

  5. This is a great review and better still to hear that you still love it so much by the end of the season. I get what you mean with some skincare, I love it at the beginning, then by the end I'm ready to move on to something else. I have yet to try anything from this brand but looking forward to exploring it in the future, hm maybe with the Sephora VIB sale coming up...

    1. Thanks, Meiko.
I believe so far Sephora is only carrying the Cleansing Oil, Enzyme Powder, and the beauty paper. They all are excellent, so VIB sale sounds perfect for trying them. :)

  6. Wow, that really says a lot when you have other skin care to test out, but you want to stick with this! Definitely curious to try the sheet mask- it sounds amazing :)

    1. I myself was surprised, too! I get almost antsy to try new skincare items at the end of a cycle, but this time I'm sad to see the bottles are empty. -_-;;;;;
I've only tried the mask once, but it is nearly as good as getting a facial. Go figure! :o

  7. Ahh, yes! I need to try more of the line. I keep thinking I will do it when stuff runs out, but then I get distracted. The serum is prolly number one on my list. I do like the cleansing oil and the enzyme scrub, though!

    1. Don't you just love the serum! Nowadays it is difficult to come across quality serum that does not contain silicones. It is so light but hydrating enough, I was using this only under sunscreen all winter, and it worked just fine.

  8. Tatcha has the most stunning packaging of any brand, hands down. I've tried a sample of some of their stuff and loved everything, ESPECIALLY the Indigo Body Butter! I have to say for anyone to be nearing the end of a regimen and plan to repurchase the entire line in full is a huge nod to how amazing everything is!

    1. Their gorgeous packaging is another reason I love the brand. I'm not going to deny. LOL. They look so good on my vanity! ;D
I've tried the Indigo Body Butter sample and liked it quite a bit, but it was just one time and my skin is not as reactive so maybe that's why I was wowed to buy a full jar. :)

  9. I want to try more of the line, but the shipping rate kills me. Unless I get the whole friggin set, which will then earn me free shipping >_< I am lucky to experience good results with other skincare too, so I'm not too bummed about not being able to try something else from this brand. Still, it is tempting :-)

    1. It it hard to just commit to a whole skincare range especially they are not as affordable. The ritual set is actually priced with a good discount so I'd say it is worth it, but I've had a chance to try the minis so..
Anyway you seem to get along with fine brands like La Mer and Eve Lom for example. :)

  10. I'd love to try their products but I'm not sure about availability where I live - plus the price is certainly steeeeep. The Luminous Dewy Skin Mist sounds gorgeous though. I'm a sucker for face mists and anything soothing and hydrating :) My skin's been really dry lately (again.) and Lord knows I need some nourishing skin care that will inject a bit of moisture and suppleness back in.

    1. It is still a niche even in the U.S. I mean only selected department stores like Barneys carries them with additional service. I myself prefer ordering directly from the website, so I certainly understand the dilemma. Both Supple & Ageless cream sound like something you'd like, though. They both are very light (Ageless is richer, btw) but the moisturizing effect is long lasting.

  11. I have more than a few Tatcha products on my wish list. I've sampled the Pure Cleansing Oil, Polished Enzyme Powder and Ageless Eye Cream and loved all three products. I will probably break down and buy one of them soon ;p I also really like their Japanese Beauty Papers, so much that I'm including one in my new giveaway.

    1. Oh, I forgot to include the Beauty Papers although they are not exactly a skincare item. I love them, too! :D It's nice of you to include them in your giveaway.
I'm interested in trying the rolled up version in the future. :)

    2. It says a lot about how great these products are when you're excited to re-purchase and know they work so well for you. I just wish Sephora would carry more from the brand. The rice enzyme powder is definitely on my wishlist.

    3. There are few lines to which I repeatedly came back, but I'd switch around then come back. It's been a long time since the last time when I was deeply impressed with a skincare line.
If actually like the Tatcha Enzyme Powder better than Dermalogica. It doubles as a mild cleanser as well so I've been using this twice a day, quite religiously, too. :)

  12. Like others, Tatcha has been high on my list of brands to explore as well. Maybe I'll look into the Discovery Kit at some point. I'm looking to do a skincare overall sometime in the very near future.

    1. The Discovery Kit is really a smart way of experiencing the brand although in my case I became to like the line even more after I started using the full sized ones.
Will look forward to your skincare reviews! :)
