Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss Pirate

I am very late in the game, so I will be brief about Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss.

* Some of you know that I love the formulation of Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss, which is the previous version of Rouge Allure Gloss (I have reviewed in Ã‰moi shade here). I've heard that the new Rouge Allure Gloss is more pigmented with better formula, but I beg to differ. They are about the same. Maybe it isn't a fair comparison since I only own one from each range, but I wouldn't be too far off since they both are pigmented red colors with same amount of tackiness and they last on me about the same.

* The new click-y tube? It is very cool. I love the click-y tube of the whole Rouge Allure line. I was worried that I might have to deal with the messiness because of how the tube was designed, but fortunately it stays very clean. However, I do miss the hefty ceramic tube of Extrait De Gloss.

* I love this iconic red shade, Pirate. It is my kind of red with blue undertones and it looks quite flattering and natural.

That's about it. Now on to the pictures. :)

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss Pirate
You've already seen this unrealistic filtered Instagram selfie.
The lip color is not really true to life, but I am wearing Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Pirate here.
For some reason, my hair was kind of wild that day and I felt like a pirate
Weird thing, this makeup is.

The tube stays clean. I'm impressed!

Red glossy lippies are generally more photogenic, though. ^-^

It is a very classic red and the name is almost unorthodox. But then, why couldn't a pirate wear this? I mean look at Johnny Depp. ;p

  3. This is one stunning shade on you, Lena! I am a big fan of the formula as well, even though I am not a gloss girl!

I agree the formula is very pleasing and I can easily see why this gloss is appealing to many people. :)

  4. Pretty! I love your photo, filtered or not :) I enjoy twists on packaging, so will go check this out. Lancome's lipgloss also has a button thing but is otherwise just like a normal lipgloss, whereas this one is really different! Me thinks worth owning...(that's how I excuse a lot of purchases...I tell myself it's "different" somehow hehe)

I like the Lancome Lip Lover packaging, too! It is light and well-made that it has made into my makeup bag for "all-occasional pink lippy". ;D
I still like the old tube a bit better. It had such a luxurious feel to it, I didn't mind carrying it although it's a bit heavy.

Oh, and yeah..they are all different. Very! ;D

  5. You look gorgeous, Lena!! love the shade on you , and also the make up look you wear on the picts. You have beautiful skin *envy*
I am unfortunately not a fan of this Rouge Allure Gloss even after I bought 2 shades.. I didn't try the previous version so I can't really compare.. I prefer the Lancome lip lover to this one..

    1. Thank you, Pam! How great is the instagram filter! I love it. LOL.
I remeber reading your disappointment about the range. I will let you know for sure how different the formulas are, but I doubt that you'd like the previous one if you dislike the new one. Quite close, they are...
Although I think Lancome and Chanel are two completely different animals, I do love the Lancome one, too! :)

  6. Gorgeous lippie and I love seeing your hair like that! So thick and luscious! I think this shade makes for a perfect pretty pirate for sure! That packaging is just stunning too, innovative and sleek and fun to use!

My hair is slightly curly and on the thincker side (for East Asian's anyway). I wore it up for an hour then it looked like that by the time I tooke the picture.
I guess all Chanel Rouge Allure lippy tubes match now. They are one of the best, imho. ;)

It really is about the combo of red lippy and instagram filter, though. We all know it. LOL

It is universally flattering, I assume. Although it is on the cool side, the formula lets the natural lip color show through while providing great coverage. :)

  9. Damn, I think you sold me on Pirate. I love the clean contrast of the red with your skin tone and hair colour. Liking the untamed look as well. :) I think the redesign/"reformulation" was just an excuse to hike up the price a little and pretend they were becoming more contemporary. I like the weightiness of the previous tube as well.

    1. I want an orange-y red in this, which they don't have, yet. I don't know how they came up with "Pirate" on this proper red, but I love the name! ;D
After trying this, I was determined to buy a few more of the old ones since I saw them on the Chanel site at the time when I ordered, but sadly now they're gone...*sobs*

  10. I really like that on you. I'm struggling with Chanel right now cause I'm wanting almost every lippie they have right now that's LE or reformulated :(

I guess the formula IS inconsistent. In my case the new one is quite similar to the previous one, with which I don't have much problem, but it does feel that I'm paying a bit more for the new packaging! ;p

I am also eyeing on those new Rouge Coco. There are so many shades, I wouldn't know what to pick. I just want one for now. ;p

I am just like you! In my book, the Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick tube is the very best. Period! ;D
Having said all that, I think I still prefer the old ceramic lipgloss tube. The new one is quite cool and consistent with the whole line, but the wand feels a tiny bit wobbly..? I don't know. Anyway, I wanted get a few more of the old ones, but they are all gone. Maybe eBay, then...;p

I feel now my red lippy wardrobes are quite contenct after this. I usually like clear reds with blue undertones, and I have it in every finish, including this pigmented gloss formula.
