Review, Swatch - Revlon Powder Blush Haute Pink

I don't have a strong preference towards drugstore blushes nor think of Revlon as a "blush brand".
However, I find myself reaching for my Revlon blushes very often even without thinking about it.

Many people seem to dismiss the range because it is not the most pigmented kind out there and the color selection looks less cheery than the rest, which is, well, all true.
I still have higher regards for them compared to other drugstore options and now even more so since Revlon has recently upgraded and simplified their blush collections.

Revlon Powder Blush Haute Pink (002)

Besides the cream blush (I recently reviewed one here) and the new highlighting palettes, now they offer nine of very wearable powder blushes nondescript of the finish.
Before, there was a separate matte range and a few belonged to certain lines, which was quite confusing if you ask me.
Some of the classic shades have been reincarnated with different names, and you can see here if you can find your old favorites before you panic and start asking on the boards.

Revlon also cleaned up the packaging a bit, too. It is the same rectangular black case but now with this more sophisticated and sturdier feel. In fact, the new powder blush looks very dandy once you peel off all the stickers.
I also like to mention that the brush included actually is nice. It may be tiny but very soft and works adequately for touch-ups.
There is a mirror as well, and thank God it is glued on the case not popping out on the side!
(Remember the time Revlon once tried to pop our eyeballs out? ;o)

Haute Pink is one of those newly introduced shades in spring 2014.
It is a vibrant medium pink.
Definitely blue based, but Haute Pink has a nice amount of red as well.

Haute Pink looks matte from the pan but it translates into a satin finish.
I was very surprised to read Temptalia's review saying it is so sheer that she had to scrape the product off using a metal spatula(!) to get the swatch color, because I thought this particular color (at least) was quite pigmented.
In fact, I had no trouble getting the swatch color above using my finger tip not to mention it was a simple "right to left" swipe.

To me, Revlon Powder Blush is exactly what they say it is.

"Ultra-soft, silky powder blush adds a natural flush of color to your cheeks. Provides buildable color with a soft satin finish."

This fresh and bright pink color is just perfect for spring and it looks quite flattering on me.
Since Haute Pink is rather a vivid color, this sheer blendable quality is actually a plus especially if you don't have the expertise in makeup application, or when you're in hurry (like every morning!).

Surprisingly I don't really have fallout issues with this blush, either.
Lasting power is decent as well judging by the fact it lasted through the evening when I had a small performance yesterday.

Here is how Haute Pink looks on me.

Have you tried the new Revlon blushes?
I came to this conclusion that Revlon does nice blushes, but would love to hear about your thoughts as well. :)

    1. Haute Pink is such a vibrant and fresh pink, and pink is my go-to blush color. :)

  2. never really checked out drugstore blushes besides NYX. Now you said something great about it, i might have to try some to play with different colors to find colors that suits me. I am sort of not a big blush person, but trying now to find colors that suits my taste. Having cheaper blushes that is worth the money would be good to know.

    1. To think about it, I don't have many drugstore favorites when it comes to blush. They are pretty much the same powdery chalky messes except for a few. I find the Revlon blush (the new ones) are powdery but somewhat different in pigments and how they appear on skin. True they are more pricey, so make sure to get one when they are on sale if you're interested! :)

and I like your lip color as well!!
I have once tried a revlon blush from this range, but I can't remember the shade..
I will have a closer look on my next trip to Asia, I can't wait to do some make up shopping woohoo!

    1. I honestly don't think this range is a must-have, and I'm sure you have better things to hunt down in Asia. LOL.
It is readily available in my area and I was glad to see a drugstore blush with decent packaging with nice performance. It is powdery alright but not chalky at all, which is why my skin shows through this sheer yet vibrant color. :)

  4. Exactly your kind of color :D Such a happy pink! I've never really been much for drugstore blushes...I think because maybe the packaging has to be pretty for me to indulge in blush? Hahaha, I don't know!

    1. I am the same way although I have many other drugstore favorites. This one is a bit different or at least reformulated to be better than other drugstore chalks.
Packaging isn't half bad to tell you the truth. It's simple and functional for carry around.
But again, I think I like this particular color with sheer color payoffs. Other colors look a little boring to me.

  6. Omg, the satin finish is just stunning! They're eyeshadows and mascaras and eyeliners to me have been all duds but their lip products and looks like their cheek and face products are sooo good looking! I love that finish, it's just so gleaming, I love it!

    1. Hmmm a little sidetracked here, but Revlon really does sucky mascaras. I have never found a single decent one. So sad.
Revlon does great foundation and lippies, and now nice blushes if they are not excellent. ;)

  7. This looks great on you, Lena :-) I haven't tried Revlon blushes before. It's great to find good stuff at drugstore sometimes. So far, Revlon blushes have pretty good reviews!

    1. Thank you, Lily.
I was surprised to see some bad reviews on them from many reputable bloggers, though. And I wonder if we are now so used to those saturated in-you-face kind of pigmentations, which I'm so tired of at this moment.
I can't say this blush is amazing but perfectly good for everyday pick-me-up. :)

  8. This colour is so you, Lena! I love it a lot! I wished we got more Revlon here but the line is very small and we don't get the newest exciting releases :(. The finish and the colour is pretty perfect for me and it's such a fun pink, love it!

Haute Pink was calling my name when I saw her. LOL.
I don't think it is worth your time or marked up price, but pretty nice option especially when they go on sale every so often like here in the u.s. :)

  9. I'm still focused on their cream blush but this looks really nice! It's true I never thought of Revlon as a blush brand, but I'm all for it. MOAR BLUSH.

    1. Still, Revlon is a brand for foundation and lippies for me. I realized I am fond of their blushes as well. But it is definitely not a brand for mascara. lol

    1. Ah, so you like creamy products like stila Convertibles, I guess?
I prefer powder type since they seem to last on me better. :)

  12. I definitely prefer cool tone pinks for blush, I think it's more flattering for my skin tone. I've been meaning to pick this shade up after Kate from Ghostparties raved about it as well :) I agree with you, Revlon have sorted out their packaging, I like the simple black casing but can't see myself using the brush...glad to hear you found it useful for touch up though.

Thanks for mentioning the blog, btw. I didn't know her blog although it seems super famous. LOL. Glad to see there are positive opinions on the blush as well.
Yeah, the brush is only good in a pinch or for carry-around. :)

  14. Honestly, I rarely stray away from MAC and NARS when it comes to blush. I have tried the occasional tarte amazonian clay blush and some chanel…but MAC & NARS are the best!

    1. I love NARS blushes, too! I like that the pigmentation is sheer but very clear, which makes it another breed.
Maybe people are fond of tarte ones, but I think they are just okay. ;)

    1. I am just like you! Although I love Revlon foundation and many lippies, it never strikes me as a blush brand. I was pleasantly surprised both in formulation and the fresh color. :)
