Swatch, FOTD - L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Continuous Cocoa

It has been a while since the last time I bought a new Infallible eyeshadow although I have done a series of swatch on them before and I do like them a lot.
I guess I subconsciously blocked myself from looking for more colors from the limited editions or the foreign versions, cause it is simply frustrating. (Darn you, L'Oreal).

Continuous Cocoa is not a new color and honestly I wasn't really interested in this dark (almost) matte one being a shimmer lover.
I included this in my drugstore.com order since it was on sale plus I read somewhere this could be used to fill brows.
Curiosity, yes. :)

L'Oreal Infallible Continuous Cocoa
(Quite uninteresting looking, isn't it?)

The texture and the finish is similar to Sultry Smoke shade from the same line.
If you look at closely, they are not entirely matte, but they will translate matte once applied.

It is a very dark cool brown that looks almost black.

I did not go crazy on swatching it (I am a hoarder),
but it is quite sheer even compared to the other Infallible colors.
Left - finger swatch
Right - brush swatch

On a side note, I think it is funny I was making a fuss over the application method for this hybrid eye shadow line. I remember I concluded it is the best to use sponge tips back then, but now I just use a small conventional eyeshadow brush and it works pretty well.

To my surprise, I ended up liking this color so much for everyday use, I kinda forgot to try it for my brows.
It creates neutral definition around my eyes that goes with any lip color choice of the day.
I can wear this as a sheer wash and go for deeper smokey look very easily as well.

Here is an overall look wearing this.
It shows up almost dark grey on me for some reason, which I like very much.
(It is difficult to find a grey shade that does not look harsh on!)

(My chubby cheeks have returned!
I really didn't like how scrawny they looked for the past few weeks. ;-/)

I have yet to try this on my brows.
Maybe I have been so busy and have not had time to experiment lately.
(You cannot play with such important things like your brows in busy mornings. Period.)

  1. wow it looks pretty sheer and not too intense as it looks on the pot!
I can imagine wearing it as a nice color on the lids because it doesn't transform really dark .. interesting!
But I believe this shade is not available here. :(

  3. I'm guessing this shade is most probably too dark for my brows, but I'd love it on the eyes! It's great for busy mornings :)

  4. Oh, I love that it's matte. We don't have this shade here, I really dislike L'oreal for doing this again, grrr. I think it's a great match for my brown because it doesn't have that warmth reddish tone to it. Looking really good with this shade Lena!

    1. agreed! i hate reddish tones in my brow products which is why i've been using an ebony drawing pencil for so long!
now i am excited to see how this looks on my brows. ;)

  5. That's a great shade on you! I do like that it's matte - it's been on my to-buy list, but I keep waiting for sales, haha. I like that it's more gray than red, because reddish browns and I do not get along :P

i order from drugstore.com all the time (not affiliated). surprisingly they go on sale as often as the brick and mortar stores.

  8. Oh, I swatched this and thought it was drier than the other Infallibles. Now you make me regret for not getting it. You look gorgeous in it! Can't wait to read how it works on your brows :-)

    1. oh, i agree with you.
this has quite hard texture which is probably why it works for brows as well.
i actually tried it yesterday and it worked rather nicely! :)

i feel some bloggers use more products for swatching than on face. lolz.

i am pretty sloppy when it comes to eyeshadow blending as well.
using loose color for blending helps me a lot. hope you give it a try as well. :)

  11. That's a great shade on you... perfect for everyday use as you said. Whenever I apply dark shadows I end up looking like a raccoon! I guess practice makes perfect!

      thanks for stopping by :)
i totally understand what you mean about dark shades.
having a right kind of tool helps, too.
and i always blend it with a bit of loose eyeshadow (mineral powder) and it works very well, too.
      hope this helps!

    1. i kinda suck at blending dark colors myself but it got a lot easier ever since i started using loose eye shadow to smooth the harsh edges. ;)

this color looks more brown if i pair it with deep brown cream base and looks more grey with black base. so versatile!
