Review, Swatch - Dior Addict Gloss Dormeuse

I got all excited about the hot pink gloss from Dior spring 2014 collection and wanted one for sure.
Instead, I ended up with this tame milky pink.
So typical of me, but it was also logical.
Let me explain.

Dior Addict Gloss Dormeuse

There was a time I wore lip gloss exclusively and easily had twelve pink ones in my stash.
I must have been reducing over the years, which makes sense since now I am more into sheer lipsticks and hybrid stains. I suddenly realized that I did not own any demure pink gloss!

You don't believe me? Ok, the proof.
Below is all I have for light pink lip gloss.
Just four including the new Dormeuse - What has happened to me?

This does not serve for any comparison purpose of swatching cause they are all VERY DIFFERENT colors.
(If you think they are similar, we don't share a kindred spirit.)

Plus, I have a tendency to choose safe colors when it comes to $30-a-piece lippies, cause it better be something I would actually wear.
Dramatic colors are fun but chance is that I wear them less often.
Also, I can have fun with quality drugstore options like this since drugstore products are now better than ever.

Hence, Dior Addict Gloss Dormeuse (AKA the good choice)

I am being silly here, but seriously, Dormeuse is so pretty!
And the packaging and the applicator are all perfect to my preference not to mention the gloss formula is excellent.
The coverage is medium to sheer and it wears and fades very evenly.
It does not have any unpleasant odor or taste, and my lips stay comfortable and hydrated.
Check, check, check.

The tiny brush applicator works so nicely especially with this super glossy formula.

Dormeuse is a blushed baby pink with creamy finish.

On my lips, it shows up paler and cooler than swatch that reminds me of the NARS Turkish Delight a bit.
However, unlike the Turkish Delight, it doesn't wash me out nor is too "Kardashian".

Lastly, I learned a new word - dormeuse

I have this feeling that I might actually use up a lipgloss this year, in which occasion we will have a party. ;)

Have you tried the Dior Addict Gloss range?

    1. This color seems to change depending on the skin tone. I've seen quite a few variations on swatches. I actually think this would look very nice on you as well! :)

I love Dior Dormeuse on you! I have yet to add a Dior lippie to my collection, but I'd love to do so --- the colors and packaging are so pretty!

    1. I love Dior makeup but only started collecting their lip products recently. Dior lipgloss used to have the awful scent but it doesn't anymore. I want to get more. ;)

    1. I hadn't even considered them for a long time cause the last one I tried had this terrible scent to it. But that was a decade ago, they must have changed it! lolz

That's exactly what I thought - "What am I doing collecting all these crazy colors when I don't have a single nice pink lipgloss??! :o"

  7. Absolutely gorg, I do have a couple dior addict glosses myself. I've got a sheer pink with glitter, a nude with glitter and a deep peach with glitter! I absolutely adore the textures, so silky, so glossy and I have no problems with reapplying all the time. I find their formulas just such a dream for the lips. That shade is perfect for dark eye looks!

    1. I bet they look super pretty on you cute pouts!
I am like you on reapplying lipgloss in general. As long as it fades away naturally and evenly, no problem! :)

Yeah, I can't say I am into gloss anymore but having a couple of these seems logical and even necessary. :)

  9. Ah, a gorgeous pick, Lena! If there's only a brand of lip glosses I could live with for the rest of my life, it would be Dior glosses :-P

  10. This was also one of the first gloss shades I got from them, I really like how moisturizing it is, Dormeuse is more like a nice glossy tinted lipbalm for me, love those glosses / Claire xxx

    1. I love that it doesn't turn tacky later cause many glossy lipgloss does that to me and form those icky lines! :-/
I want to get a couple more shade with milky finish. I really enjoy it. ;)

  11. i really like the dior addict glosses!!!! i love the brush applicator and i love the finihs. some people find them a bit sheer but i'm ok with that. and i agree about buying a color you'll actually use..better not to waste hard earned dollars to something that will just sit in a drawer right.

    1. I agree with you! There are different needs and different products available according them. Some people complain saying "oh, it is not long lasting and too sheer" when the product doesn't claim any of those. So funny. ;)

  12. gorgeous shade! Totally agree with you when it comes to high end products, go with a safe color so you know you're going to use it up instead of sitting at the back of your makeup drawer. I haven't tried Dior lip gloss. I only have an Addict lip balm and the Creme de rose which I absolutely adore. Will have to check this out.

I'm really infatuated with this whole Addict range right now. Must resist!

    1. And the the first 3 are so old that I have to throw them away anyway (justification) then I would have to get more Pokemons (excuse).
I can always blame you! HAHA ;D

  15. I loved NARS Turkish Delight but could not stand the horrible scent so I might have to go check out this one instead! I'm generally more a lipstick kinda gal, but Dior glosses are probably one of my favourites!

    1. Neutrogena had a most wonderful dupe for NARS Turkish Delight - Groove, and I used at least three tubes of it after my initial TD. Of course they had to revamp the lipgloss line and that shade is gone.
As you said, Dormeuse is warmer and not as pale but it gives somewhat similar effect. Plus the formula is great! :)

  16. I've always wanted to try NARS Turkish Delight but this looks to be a tad more wearable - Turkish Delight is probably too milky and pale. Good on you that you went for the safe but smart choice! :)

    1. I agree. I liked Turkish Delight for summer then found a good dupe which I loved till it was discontinued..
Thanks for supporting my choice! ;D

BTW, isn't "dormeuse" the most pretentious thing ever? I don't think I would want one, ever. ;o
