This is the second time Tom Ford has brought a makeup collection inspired by their award-winning fragrance, "Vanilla Sex". And this time, we have the coveted Metallust Eye Quad reincarnated. I have to say, this collection comes with the most mundane, neutral color story, but also in the best possible way so that it feels quite special, if that makes sense.
Vanilla Sex Makeup Collection this year is very limited by nature, and it is not likely to come to other major retailers here in the US. The online launch date was set for 8/27, but the eye quad was delayed by a month for some reason.
The eye quad comes in a soft vanilla color exterior with the gold T, which is consistent with the latest version of Tom Ford eye quads. The lipstick case is the same color, but it has croc embossing.

It is an amazing neutral eyeshadow palette. Period. The formula is very even and unified regardless of the finishes. I believe Tom Ford really has figured out a great talc-free eyeshadow formula, and this palette is not an exception. You can find similar shades anywhere, but these come in the superior formula you can rely on through and through.

The pan shades look quite different, but once swatched, there are more similarities than differences. The real difference would be the texture. The metallic shades in the OG can feel a bit crumbly because they are almost like pressed pigment. If the new version is more user-friendly with the consistent formula, the OG possesses more attitude and oomph, which makes it still more special in my book.
The two shades in the top row are quite similar, but you can spot some differences in the bottom row. The OG has a cooler undertone, and the deepest shade is also cooler and has more depth.

There are 3 lipsticks offered in the collection: 6 On Repeat, 17 Understated, and 21 Nude Illusion. The Nude Illusion is the only new shade, and the other two are repromoted.

I love this collection. I love how reliable it is. No surprise, just guaranteed beautiful neutral smoky eyes that I can enjoy over and over again. Indeed, this is "Vanilla Sex" inspired.
