Wayne Goss The Smoky Quartz Luxury Eye Collection

Review, Swatches - Wayne Goss The Smoky Quartz Luxury Eye Collection

This review is long overdue and Wayne Goss is about to launch another one but I still wanted to cover this gorgeous eye collection and a few other goodies I purchased a few months ago. The Smoky Quartz Luxury Eye Palette is not Wayne's first eyeshadow palette but the first one that spoke to me. I also bought one of his blush/highlighter palettes and the rather popular mascra. All are very solid and high quality if not groundbreaking.

According to Wayne Goss, this collection is inspired by the iconic shades of the '90s. I must say the colors are very basic cool-toned shades but the assortment is quite impressive. The formulation is on the hard-pressed side but very finely milled and blends beautifully. The kohl eyeliner comes in a very interesting cool grey shade, Granite.

The Smoky Quartz Luxury Eye Palette is very reminiscent of the elusive Tom Ford Metal Lust quad. The overall effect and look you get from these two palettes are very similar not to mention The Smoky Quartz Palette is a much better deal.

The kohl liner is also very nice. I love the consistency of this kohl - it is still soft and smudgeable but has a little tack while it glides on the skin. The Granite shade is a cool grey but has a hint of warmth and is very beautiful. I like this affordable and functional eyeliner so much that I ended up purchasing the Obsidian shade as well.

Wayne Goss Weightless Veil Blush Palette, Desert Blossom ($45, Beautylish)

Wayne Goss The Waterproof Mascara ($24, Beautylish)

Both are excellent. I didn't buy the blush palette when it launched but I am so glad I picked it up this time. Dessert Blossom is such a dreamy blush and highlighter duo. I don't normally like physically bigger makeup palettes but the shades are so beautiful and blend effortlessly that I can forget about the palette size.

The Waterproof mascara is probably the first mascara with a plastic brush that I ever loved. It checks off all the boxes for me - sooty black shade, lengthening, volumizing, and super long-lasting. It is quite difficult to remove, which is my only complaint.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. As a makeup artist, Wayne Goss is never about flashy styles but all about universally beautiful colors that can work on many different people. And I think this collection embodies what he's been preaching. Impressive!

I did a video review right after this collection launched. If you're interested in seeing a makeup demo, please watch this video:
