Deborah Lippmann Dark Side Of The Moon

Deborah Lippmann Dark Side Of The Moon NOTD

Although I usually sport light neutral colors on my nails in summer, cool-toned vamp shades with creme finish are still in the rotation. Deborah Lippmann Dark Side Of The Moon is the favorite of the moment.

Dark Side Of The Moon is a deep eggplant with a gel-creme finish. Not an easiest to apply, but it is certainly a better formulation than its look-alike OPI Lincoln Park After Dark.

Rule of thumb for me when I wear a dark nail color like this is to file my nails short. Nowadays I can't stand keeping nails too long anyway, but I make sure to prep them even shorter. A dark color looks posh on clean short nails and this way you can keep things in balance.

Instead of applying two coats, I added a sheer gloss like nail color after the first coat. This L'Oreal polish is called Berry Nice and I believe it was an LE from years ago. Berry Nice is a bit bluer than Dark Side Of The Moon, but it doesn't alter the color being so sheer (think grape Essie Sugar Daddy). Still, it smoothed out the imperfection without making the finish too opaque.

For base coat and top coat, I used my all time favorites such as Deborah Lippmann All About That Base and Essie Gel Setter Top Coat .

Hope you enjoyed this quick NOTD (rather an NOTW) post. Do you wear vampy nail colors in summer? Or are they reserved for the cooler months?
