Pretty and Mundane - Glossier Cloud Paint Puff

Glossier Cloud Paint Puff

My friend Catherine was visiting from San Francisco and we had our date at the Glossier showroom in TriBeCa. I didn't know Cloud Paint was all the craze thanks to the Academy awards (apparently, a few actresses wore it and looked gorgeous.) nor did I know I was working 7 minutes from the showroom that day. So that's how I came home with a Cloud Paint. I guess it doesn't matter that you live under a rock if you have trendy friends.

First, I will give you a porn which only seems appropriate for the hottest thing.

There are four shades available pretty much covering all basics - berry(Haze), pink(Puff), nude(Dusk), and peach(Beam). I was initially interested in getting Haze but ended up with Puff after seeing the gel-creme formula deepening as soon as it touches the skin. (Catherine got Haze which looked amazing on her flawless skin.)

As you see, Puff isn't the palest pink. The powder pink belt on the tube is the color you see when it's freshly squeezed out but the blushed pink cap is close to what it appears on the skin.

Oh, by the way, I am also wearing Puff on my lips. I guess a deeper shade like Haze would work better, but it does give a velvety tint to my lips. It doesn't taste bad nor feels uncomfortable, so why not? (But, do yell at me if you see something I shouldn't eat from the ingredient list!)

(I must say I am more impressed to see how the PUR Bare It All 4-in-1 (reviewed) makes my skin look. Sure, my camera's beauty filter is amazing but the foundation's coverage is just phenomenal.)

Bottom line: Glossier Cloud Paint blends very well and would look natural on any skin tone. It's practically fool-proof and the tube is certainly convenient. Into my makeup bag, it goes for sure. The price is quite reasonable(2 for $30, $18 each on Glossier). I do like the pretty pink color of Puff, but it does seem a little too plain to me. You wouldn't be kicking yourself for ordering one sight unseen, however. Again, it's versatile and useful. Cloud Paint seems like something that would look different on everybody, too.

  1. While I have way too many blushes I don't reach for oftenly enough, none of my cheek tints is opaque pink...Since you said it's nothing special, I will just stick to the cream cheeks from Canmake...

I only start hearing about them because Instagram wouldn't stop showing their ads...I almost considered buying boy brow but with all that bombarding sort of marketing. I was like "Nope...I will just use suqqu brow powder instead, it's cheaper in terms of unit price anyway"

    1. Oh, thanks for reminding me of the Canmake...! I should look for mine, but that's the one I should be carrying with me.

You already have thick beautiful brows that I don't think you need boy brow at all. My friend has tried some of their skincare products and think Glossier does skincare a bit better anyway. The makeup lineup is very minimal. I think they'd appeal more to younger people who are just starting to build their own collections.

  2. Wow the PUR foundation does make you look just flawless here and the blush color is super pretty on you as well Lena! I get what you mean about this not being a truly special product but I have to say I love the light as air texture and the foolproof application cause I'm lazy y'know :p I was going to go check out the colors in person but then I got lazy and I knew I wanted it in Dusk already so I just placed an order so I could use my credit. I'm quite liking it so far. Haze was the other color that I found appealing but Dusk is the most me. Puff looks amazing as a lip color on you as well. Pretty sure that if it's safe enough for your face, it can be worn safely on your lips. Btw I'm really liking the PUR foundation the more I use it :) Thanks again for swapping with me ^_^

    1. Thanks, Rowena! I think it's also the silicone powder that blurs everything out. Anyway, next time when I wear the Pur foundation, I'm adjusting the filter to blur less. LOL. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying your foundation. I'm probably enjoy the Estee Lauder ones as much as you are. They deserve a full review! I am sure Dusk looks fabulous on you (I think you're minimalistic not lazy! LOL).

  3. Ooh Puff is so pretty! It's delicate, soft, and very flattering as a light color on you. Your skin looks gorgeous here. I need a lot more practice to get my skin that way!
I am apparently not trendy enough because i didn't realize it was all the rage too!

Sigh, I miss wandering around Tribeca and being able to go to makeup showrooms!

    1. Thank you! No practice is needed! My digital camera has this beauty filter and it smooths out pretty much everything. But I must say the foundation has a lot to do with this almost cyborg result. ;p

I work in TriBeCa often but almost never walk around to shop (I do walk around to eat in Chinatown, though. LOL)! It was refreshing trip especially with a good friend. :)

  4. Hey Lena, I haven't tried anything from Glossier but the packaging is darn cute for some reason! While it might not be something different or special, I think it looks great on you.

  5. This was such a great review & this colour looks gorgeous on you! I just ordered Puff last night so I am so excited for it to come in. I also love the idea of wearing it on the lips - I didn't think of that! This is my first Glossier order so I'm really excited! :) xx Shannon

    1. Thank you, Shannon! Hope you like yours. Although I didn't feel any irritation on the lips, I think the company actually advise against using the product otherwise. I found out myself after this post! ;)

  6. I guess Puff is just that standard pink, as you said it's not unique but it does look really nice on you. I'm intrigued to try Dusk, it looks like a nude with some brown tones and I'm wondering whether it'll do a good job of sculpting too? Here's to hoping!

    1. If you like cream blush in general, I think you'd enjoy Cloud Paint. I myself is partial to pressed powder formulations so that probably contributed to my luke warm review on this. :) Haze and Dusk are certainly interesting colors and I think it would be great if Dusk can multi-task for sculpting!
