A little while ago, I had a blush serendipity when Larie of Eye Heart It was having a blogsale. I don't really follow MAC releases so I did not even know MAC Powder Blush Honey Jasmine was a hard-to-find LE from the All About Orange 2013 collection.
The timing couldn't have been more perfect because I just became interested in this warm vivid color group. Having an orange lipstick requires corresponding things like an orange blush. Naturally.
Honey Jasmine truly is unlike anything from my blush stash. I pulled out some peachy pink and coral blushes for comparison, but they all look way pinker next to Honey Jasmine.
Despite my fear of all things orange, Honey Jasmine looks surprisingly flattering on me. I suspect it's because the color has such nice clarity to it. Having no brown undertone but just enough yellow in it, Honey Jasmine manages to be a pretty orange, not terracotta nor apricot.
I can't say I am a big fan of MAC powder blush formula. I find it a bit dry while pigmented. However, Honey Jasmine is pleasantly blendable and stays true for quite long.
Honey Jasmine is a perfect companion to my orange lipstick, Chanel Rouge Coco 416 Coco (see it here), but also looks great paired with blue eyeshadows and nude lips.
I am also wearing
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Sapphire
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Midnight Blue
Deborah Lippmann Sheer Lipstick I'm Every Woman
It feels like I've hit a jack pot thanks to a generous blogofriend especially when I see currently only a few of Honey Jasmine are available on eBay, not to mention they are worth 3 MAC blushes each.
Have you scored a real gem from a blogsale lately?
What is your favorite orange blush?
Looks so pretty! :)

Ah, I thought it looked familiar. I freaking love that combo of blue eyes + orange cheeks, Lena! Genius!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz! Navy and orange go really well together, right? I might work up my courage and try bold orange lip with navy liner sometime soon. :)
DeleteLoving the orange! n_n
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Surprise, surprise. :)
DeleteAt first I thought it would be too orange, but it actually doesn't look that bad on you! :)

That's what I thought, too.
DeleteIt is vivid yet quite neutral at the same time, and it looks nice with warm red lipstick as well. :)
Oh that is one pretty orange! I think MAC blushes are of good quality, they're few of MAC products I am keen of ^^
ReplyDeleteThe name is pretty as well tho, Honey Jasmine, it could be a Hollywood celebrity's daughter name , lol.
One of my all time blogsale gem is the Itcosmetics Naturally Pretty eye shadow palette, it is one of my HG palettes ^^
LOL. Good one, Pamela! ;D
DeleteI like my powder blush somewhat creamy, like Rouge Bunny Rouge blushes, but I have to agree that MAC blushes are solid quality.
Gotta love a good blogsale, really. I also got a foundation from the same sale and I freaking love it. :)
Just gorgeous! I'm wondering what blush brush do you like to use?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vita! :)
DeleteI'm not really equipped with nice brushes. I think for this, I used e.l.f. blush brush from their studio line ($3) ;o
It looks quite orange in the swatch but does not at all on you. You make me want to run out and look for similar shades. I find myself buying the same shades of blush over and over again, totally waste of $. I need to explore more.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI think MAC does offer more than a few orange blushes with clear hues like Honey Jasmine. :)
I thought my blush stash was complete before I brought this in, though. Like you, I am overloaded with similar shades of pink, peachy pink, and berry blushes. This is really a welcome addition!
I remember that blog sale, weren't everything like 5 bucks? Lucky you...I think the only orange blush I had was Paul & Joe harvest moon and I dropped it on concrete floor (so why did I have to get my mail with a blush on my hand again?), I will need a replacement but I will wait till fall to do it (I think I wear coral/orange all year round but I especially like it in fall).
ReplyDeleteI know! She was practically giving stuff away. I feel so lucky to have grabbed a few things. ;)
DeleteThat Paul & Joe blush story breaks my heart..Why Paul & Joe..T,.T
If you have already good number of coral/orange stuff, yeah, why not? :)
Orange is a difficult shade to wear and you manage to pull it off beautifully Lena! It looks fantastic with the blue eyeshadow. Orange anything scares me personally ;p
ReplyDeleteWe share the same fear! But surprisingly, clear orange actually looks better on me than some muted peach colors that I find it so interesting. I might have to look into some Japanese offerings since they do sheer straight-up colors so nicely. :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful, unusual color! I love the cool eyes + warm cheeks/lips combination. Also, "Having an orange lipstick requires corresponding things like an orange blush. Naturally"--well, that's just common sense. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, AB!
DeleteBeing so sensible, I've also scored some orange-y nail polishes. Again, it's only natural. ;D
It's beautiful <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Coco! :)
DeleteThis blush is beautiful, now I wish I owned it too. I don't think I have any true orange blushes. Coral- yes, but nothing that orange! It goes perfect with the eyeshadow too!

To think about it, many of us seem missing some orange stuff from our stashes. MAC does have Tangerine something blush, and I've recently seen a really gorgeous one from the new Surrat offerings. Let me know if you get some pretty orange things! :)
DeleteHurray! I'm glad you like it. I think the blue + orange combination is perfect, as well! It's one of my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful, Larie! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have even dared to try anything like this.
DeleteBlue and orange seems to be in for the season, so I am trying to be adventurous with them. :)
What a gorgeous look! The blue on the eye lids is stunning! My fav orange-ish blush is Tangerine from Face Atelier (it's only orange-"ish" cuz it's not a true orange. It leans almost more coral).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Meiko!
DeleteI like using blue/purple eyeshadows with warmer lip colors, but this was the first time pairing orange cheeks with blue eyes. They are great together, aren't they? ;D
Ooh! It looks super fab with the blue shadow, Lena!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Honey Jasmine has filled that big gap of my blush stash. Still loving it! :)
