Perfume Tag

I have always loved perfume, and choosing one in the morning accordingly depending on my mood, outfit and the weather of the day is such a pleasurable thing.
I started my perfume journey with the mainstream where most of my current collection stays within, but I did have some crazy perfume phase sniffing through many e-tailer scents and hand-poured niches.
Nowadays I just go easy about it spritzing whatever strikes my fancy. I haven't made a full bottle purchase lately. I don't feel guilty using the same scent two days in a row, either.

Still, I have a cabinet full of perfume and since I hardly reapply my perfume, I am pretty sure I won't be able to use up the stash, ever.

This is one of my early Instagram pics.
No, there are more.
I just couldn't fit everything in the Instagram square.

1. What is the first perfume you purchased?
Honestly, I don't remember. But my first perfume was Chanel No.19.
It was a splash bottle gifted from my mom (well, more like I kept stealing it so she ended up giving it to me), and I was nineteen, too.
I still have a bottle of the EDT spray, and it evokes all sorts of memories whenever I wear it. Wonderful that it does not smell outdated at all.

2. What is your signature perfume?
I shudder to say this, but "the ultimate signature" is the original Estee Lauder Pleasures.
Of course, I outgrew the scent, but whenever I wear this, people never fail to compliment me. I used to think this was such a light scent, but the patchouli in it feels heavier now. I still have a small bottle and I only wear it to see if it still fetches compliments. (It does.)
The recent one is the Chloe EDT. The EDP version is too heavy and powdery on me, but the EDT plays it just right. It kinda upsets me that so many women wear it.
Another one would be the original Bvlgari Pour Femme. To me, this is the definition of feminine elegance. The dry jasmine in this is very comforting to me. I make sure to spray very lightly and just once, which is the key to avoiding smelling too mature.

3. What is your most recent perfume purchase?
Gee, I really don't remember, which is another proof that I haven't bought anything lately.
I think the last one I opened is the Dior J'Adore EDT, though.
This is a rather rare edition with a silver neck that smells best on me out of all the variations and flankers. The drydown is very pretty.

4. What perfume would you wear at night time/date night?
I would wear whatever I want to wear on my date.  To think about it, I have never categorized anything as night or day perfume.
But hypothetically speaking, if it is the second or the third date and I like the guy, I would wear either one of these.
They are not my absolute favorites exactly, but very effective ones.
When you see guys go gaga for something time after time, you better wear it especially when you like it, too.
These are from Ava Luxe, and Ava is good with recreating famous scents with her own twists.
Ava Luxe Wild Blackberry Musk is a lot like the Trish McEvoy No.7, but it has the perfect balance of the sweet and sour that literally makes you salivate.
Ava Luxe White Musk is a very sexy skin scent with a floral amber. It just works.

5. What's your favorite spring/summer perfume?
Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil comes to my mind since its slight bitterness works so well when the weather is unbearably humid plus it smells very clean and composed.
Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline would be my "sexy" light musk to wear anytime, but it smells especially lovely on a warm spring night.
My other favorite is the Child perfume. This is "The Big White Floral" for me - it blooms on my skin and stays pretty for a long time.

6. What's your favorite fall/winter perfume?
I like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle all year round, but I don't feel apologetic wearing this when the air is cooler. This is my "empowerment" scent. I feel slightly bitchy yet confident with this.
Hanae Mori Butterfly EDT is probably the only gourmand that works on my skin. I really appreciate this praline and almond combo that is disguised as vanilla cause vanilla never really work with my chemistry. The strawberry is much more pronounced on me as well. A true love.
My other pick is the Kenzo Flower, which is the best baby powder scent for me. The opening is almost too sharp but it quickly morphs into the creamiest veil of comfort.

7. What is your favorite scent category?
Sure, I so wanted to rock Cyphre, gourmand, or even leathery scents, but sadly they don't love me back.
What, most guys love foody scents on you since they evoke those happy childhood memories? No, it never happened to me. It pissed me off (!) to find out at some point that not every scent smells nice on me (yeah, I used to be a perfume princess like that), but I know it is the woody floral that works best and makes my nose happiest, too.

8. What perfume are you currently lusting after?
Hmmmm, nothing, really.
I would love to get a full bottle of Tocca soon whichever it may be, but I am not in hurry.

9. What perfume do you really dislike?
Acqua di Gio for Men.
I cannot stand it yet I smell it everywhere.
What a tragedy.

10. What fragrance/cologne do you like on your significant other?
I like the John Varvatos Signature. I don't really like Mr. Varvatos' clothing or other scents, but this original fragrance smells so sexy. It is mostly sweet and tender but has a bit of macho quality to it with the leather note. Mmmmm.
However, the Dior Fahrenheit weakens my knees. This is a very difficult scent to pull off since it seems to have its own mind. Sadly I have seen many cases of Fahrenheit wearing a guy, not the other way around.

Thanks for reading this long post.

Wish everyone a great weekend. :)

  1. ... 7 years later... (and your perfume cupboard probably looks very different now!
Your perfume collection is impressive. I adore perfumes but because we moved continent last year everything I used up for a long time I didn't repurchase nor replace with something else so now am rebuilding a collection very very slowly.
I have never bought the classic Chanel no. 19 but I love the No. 19 Poudre and even wore that for my wedding.
Other things I eye here, I have tried to love the Chloe edt and edp (the bottles are so cute and I actually like the scent families) but they remind me of an ex coworker who was really horrible to me, and she used to dose herself in it all day long, so I just cant make myself buy one. Its amazing how we link memories to scents...
Funny how you say you really dislike the Acqua di Gio, I hate it too, and I hate that type of scents in general.
I also adore the Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil, it's very interesting. I adore lots of the Hermes perfumes. And Bvlgari Pour Femme ( I think its discontinued now). I used to wear that one all the time about 10 years ago!

    1. I still have most of them mentioned here. I love perfume but a light wearer who almost never "freshen up" later in the day so frankly it's hard to use anything up, but that's probably because I have too many as well. I went through a major decluttering earlier this year and got rid of old bottles if they smelled a bit off to me. I keep them in a glass storage and they are never exposed to light so I wanna believe those perfume enthusiasts who insist perfume ages like wine..Haha. I totally get how you feel about Chloe. I still resent that now Chloe has almost the same status as EL Pleasures and Lancome Tresor..and I hesitate to wear it because many people wear it wrong and too much. Ugh. The Rose one from Chloe is so shy and pretty, though. The discontinued Love is also gorgeous and one of the most beautiful powder scent. You know they always discontinue the good ones.... I didn't know about the Bvlgari. It's the signature scent. How could they....???!

  2. The Chloe Rose one is one I haven't tried and want to one day. Maybe it will be the one I like?
I don't know, maybe the Bvlgari Pour Femme isn't discontinued (only I havent seen it in ages), I hope not, as you say its a signature scent!

    1. Some say the Chloe Rose is what Chloe was supposed to be. LOL. It's a darling scent for sure. It's quite possible they don't make Pour Femme anymore. I mean, they discontinued the origianl Omnia but keep making flankers..(although I do like them)
