Swatch, Review - L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain Pink Perseverance

I think this is the last one of the series for a while although I cannot guarantee anything.
(I still look at those swatch pictures occasionally and daydream about getting some more..)

Pink Perseverance would be probably the least favored color from the bunch for being super sheer and almost invisible on.
I even read a review saying it is like "clear glue", but it actually sounded intriguing to me.
Plus I knew the color would warm up and deepen at least a little from my experience with other colors from the same line.

"Mama, am I the ugly duckling..?"

Pink Perseverance is a very pale baby pink with shimmer.
(Sorry it is out of focus..)

If you are looking for nice pigmentation and definition, this would not be your best bet.
However, I like it as it is for a couple of reasons.

My lips are pigmented and defined enough so I don't normally have problems with sheer light colors like this. I must own more than five of similar colors but I often find them quickly turn into messy blah and I have to constantly reapply to keep that paleness(?) intact.
Sometimes pale lip colors could be high maintenance just like dark vivid ones!
With Pink Perseverance, it is much easier. Pale it maybe, but it lasts and lasts.

I also think it works like a primer for other lip colors.
I actually wanted to try it under some other slippery lippies because that dear blogger said it was like "glue"!
(And this is why I value any blog review whether it is rave or rant.)
This indeed helps other lip glosses and lipsticks to stay longer without altering the colors much.

I like wearing this with L'Oreal Colour Caresse Lipstick Pink Plush.
These two colors actually remind me of Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Lingerie Pink.

I also tried Pink Perseverance with Rose On and On to create a softer pink shade and it was pretty good.
I have worn it alone for this look as well.

  1. I am with you - I do find a use for colors like this, since my lips are also already pretty pink. They do work well to tone down other colors! And to make my lips a little paler, to counteract a dark eye look, for example.

    1. yeah, it works great with dark smokey eyes and exaggerated cheeks. :)
i ever believed in lighter colors in stain formula but now i have a different opinion. ;)

  5. Haha clear glue? I think this will be next to invisible on me because my lips are pretty pigmented to begin with. It's good to hear the formula lasts so well though. It's not because I'm wearing a lighter color that I want to constantly reapply ;)

    1. lolz. i actually like that it feels like glue a little bit although it isn't that tacky once it sets.
i also love how it rarely balls up on my lips even after excessive(?) talking. ;p

  6. it does look too pale for me, but I can imagine how it looks on you! must be pretty!!
I agree with the 'glue' thing, as I often wear the YSL glossy stain as a kind of base color because it makes the lip color applied over it, stays better.
I ,however, haven't got my hands on these dupes from L'oreal mainly because I am not 100% sold on the formula of the original one. So I guess they aren't made for me.. :/

    1. if you see the overall look from the other post, you will see it is not all that pale. these do warm up a bit!
l'oreal versions are bit more watery and easier to control, you might like it. give it a try when you come across them. :)

  10. Hi Lena!
I completely hear what you are saying, that is why i picked up the lightest shade of the YSL Glossy stains. It is so much more difficult to maintain a nude lip! Im always looking for a long-lasting nude. This looks lovely on your beautiful lips, as usual <3

    1. ooh i am excited you're wearing the ysl version like that, too! ;)
i never believed in lighter shimmery colors in stain, but this is a hybrid one after all, right?

thanks so much for your compliment as always! :)

    1. it's been working pretty well for me so far.
for example, ysl rouge volute is quite slippery on me and this provides a good base for it. :)

  15. You wear these sorts of colours so well Lena! You'd probably know by now that I feel more comfortable with a little more pigment on my lips although I'd probably give a pale creamy pink a try :)

  16. I know I see most of your photos on instagram anyways but thought I'd stop by ;) I have recently been starting to play around with different color lipstick myself but tend to go back to the nudes and light pink ones. Guess I'm just a creature of habit ;)
