Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze | Swatches & Thoughts

Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze swatch

Pat McGrath has brought out 3 new eyeshadow palettes this spring - Platinum Bronze, Bronze Ambition, and La Vie en Rose. Each is like a concise version of her MOTHERSHIP eyeshadow palettes but looks somewhat tame. Which is a good thing for someone like me, because I find the original MOTHERSHIPs too big and bold to incorporate into daily looks. I picked up Platinum Bronze without hesitation. I haven't had enough time to play with it, but I wanted to quickly show the swatches and share my initial thoughts with you.

Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze review

MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze Palette comes in a thick cardboard case with beautiful illustrations. It has a magnetic flap plus pull-closure. There is a nice size mirror inside, too. I personally wish it was slimmer and smaller, but it does feel sturdy and well-made.

The pans are covered with a plastic film that has each shade's name printed on (which I placed upside down in this photo).

Color composition of Platinum Bronze is awesome. All shades are complex and sophisticated. I like that the overall tone is quite neutral with all easily wearable colors. I also love that this palette covers light to dark and includes at least one matte.

Swatching these colors was pleasurable. Every color feels rich and smooth. I will have to play more with it to determine whether they are too soft for my taste or not. I have a feeling that this particular formulation might require certain types of brushes, but at least I can tell these colors blend beautifully and last for many hours.

I plan to do a separate look post as I see Platinum Bronze can offer more than a few possibilities.

MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze ($55) is currently available on Pat McGrath website and Sephora.

Hope you find these swatches helpful. What do you think of this palette? Are you planning to pick one up from the new offerings?

  1. I saw an article that featured these palettes and you definitely picked the one with the prettiest colors Lena! If I'm not mistaken these are only going to be available for a limited time so it's great you were able to snag one :) I haven't tried any Pat McGrath products but I've heard the quality is supposed to be really good.

    1. I didn't know it was an LE until I received mine. LOL. There will be other LEs but I do like this one a lot - definitely very high quality and probably best among those buttery formulations with high pigment.

  2. OMG the shades look perfect and so wearable! I swear the pricing is a lot higher here as usually Pat McGrath items are over $100! But at this lower price range, this could be worth it!

    1. I agree with you! I love that these are affordably priced, too. I am not into big palettes anyway. Under $10 per pan for this quality is a great deal. :)

  3. I read some mixed reviews, but I love the colours. Swatches are always helpful. The brand is not available here yet, but maybe some day.

    1. I myself still prefer something like Lunasol, but tt is definitely high quality and probably the best among those buttery smooth/high pigment eyeshadows. :)

  4. This looks beautiful! I've been eyeing the purple colour-way but I just have so many eyeshadows already!

    1. The purple palette looks amazing, too! From where I see it, the colors are unique yet wearable. Platinum Bronze would be the most versatile choice, though - it includes all warm & cool neutrals. :)

    1. This is a great palette if you like buttery intense color payoffs in eyeshadows. All colors are beautiful and wearable. I don't know if I'd go for her other stuff like lipsticks, but I think it is a good purchase for me. :)
