YSL Rouge Pur Couture 55 Rouge Anonyme
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture 55 Rouge Anonyme (Luminous Red)-

Today is #NationalLiptickDay, I hear? I am not buying any lipstick but want to do a short post on one of my favorites. Rouge Anonyme (aka Luminous Red) is a beautiful ruby red with micro shimmer. I've had this one for more than a year now and been reaching for it whenever I feel like a conventional lipstick.

To me, YSL Rouge Pur Couture is the ideal of full coverage lipstick if not innovational. I don't really mind the chunky gold case that collects fingerprints like mad except for when I take a picture of it. I know some of you are not fond of the rosy fragrance of this lipstick range, but I personally love it (on the other hand, I am not a big fan of the melon scent from the Volupte range). Beautiful colors? Check. Long lasting and comfortable on the lips? Check, check.

(sorry, it's "Rouge Anonyme")

Yves Saint Laurent (or is it Saint Laurent now?) does red, pink, and orange so well, and Rouge Anonyme isn't an exception. I am so attracted to this cool red. For me, it is a practical red lipstick that is easy to wear and never fails to fetch compliments. The shimmer is so fine that it doesn't really show once applied, but the lips look fuller and more youthful. There is something quite modern about this pink red and it's not as serious as some I've tried. Rouge Anonyme is a carefree weekday red.

It is a saturated color and all you need is one swipe. I usually blot lightly and smudge the lip lines a bit as you see in the lip swatch pic above. The lipstick practically glides on and feels very light - I'd say this is a fine example of a fantastic combination of silicone and intense pigment.

(I can't remember what else I was wearing in this look. The pics were taken sometime in last spring, so)

I just looked and it seems that YSL may be phasing out this particular color (but why). There are tons available on eBay or on Amazon, though. I might need a backup myself.

Hope you enjoyed this post! What is your favorite conventional lipstick? Did you purchase any today?

  1. I got suckered by Sephoras freebie lipstick (from wander beauty) and got the give me some Nude lips set (i want to try a mini Bite multi stick)...I should have gotten a full sized one but it's 24 (so i need to find a cheap filler to qualify for a freebie...).

I swear all these random national xxx day are made up to boost impluse shopping (didn't we just have some kissing day). One day people will get numb with all of them...

    1. I hear you. I feel the same way about all these something something days. It's like every day, right? ;o
I will forward to hearing about the new lippies on your blog. Legit minis are always more attractive! I haven't really followed any new release lately and didn't know about Wander Beauty.

  2. I didn't buy any new lipsticks, and coincidentally, I just used up one today! It's my Dior Lip Glow in Lilac. Given, it's more of a tinted lip balm, but it's still a lip product ;-) Favourite conventional lipstick? That's a tricky question, Lena. I can't think of JUST one. However, I always prefer my lipsticks scent free.

    1. Dior Lip Glow counts since it's a stick! ;p If I have to pick a favorite range, that would be still Chanel Rouge Allure both satin & matte, but I really like this particular red and reach for it very often. Other than that, lately I use lip tint and gloss a lot. :)

  3. It's no wonder you're attracted to cool reds since they look beautiful against your complexion Lena! The last lip color I purchased was Smith & Cult Tainted Lip Stain in a shade called Kissing Tiny Flowers. The name and color just called me haha ;p You just made realized I haven't worn conventional lipstick in awhile. I prefer long wearing formulas because I'm too lazy to reapply most of the time LOL Have a wonderful new week my friend!

    1. Happy new week to you, Rowena! :)

You made me look at the Smith & Cult lippies - they look very nice. And now I want Kissing Tiny Flowers (I mean, how could you not). It is a beautiful blushing nude from where I see it. ;D
