Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour 416 Coco

So I bought a piece from the reformulated Chanel Rouge Coco range, and I went the other way this time : Orange.
I tend to go for a safe pinkish color when it comes to a higher-end lippie purchase, but this spring I am coveting all things coral and orange. Maybe it is the unbelievably long winter that still seems to be ongoing. I never thought I'd be talking about weather so much, but there isn't any sign of green or flowers although we're now well into April. I need some warmth!

Well, Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour Coco is warm, refined, and edgy.
I really like it and even reach for it quite often that I myself am happily surprised.

Coco is a reddish orange with sparse shimmer.

It is probably the warmest lip color that I ever owned. I don't think I'd ever had anything I could call an orange.
Coco isn't really straight-up but still is an orange. (I'm sorry. This is a big deal for me...)

The shimmer is almost invisible once applied.

I have tweeted briefly about what I think of this reformulated Rouge Coco line.
It certainly feels pampering on lips, and the sheer-to-medium color payoff with a slightly glossy finish is the very ideal that I search for in lipsticks. For what it is, it even stays on for quite a bit leaving a nice stain behind (although it might be just this color and the kind of pigment used).
But, I had to wonder how this new Rouge Coco differs from the Rouge Coco Shine range. I own a few Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks, which seem to have about the same finish and the staying power. You wouldn't believe it if I said I even tried to compare the ingredient lists side by side, would you? (Well, I quickly gave up upon spotting a few different types of wax, though.)

All is good because I happen to like the color, Coco
And honestly the lipstick is fine although I feel a bit cheated because Chanel has adjusted the price yet again. (Now we live in a world where a couture lipstick is like $40 after tax.)

Here is an overall look with Chanel Rouge Coco 416 Coco.

I am also wearing:
MAC Blush Honey Jasmine.

What can I say? Coco makes me feel different. I still don't think a warm orange-y shade is the most flattering on me, but I do love how I feel a little bit badass whenever I put Coco on my lips. (There are people out there who still look sweet and innocent with an orange lipstick on, of course. So my apologies to them.)

What color are you gravitating towards this spring? Any unusual favorite?
