EOTD, Review - L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Sultry Smoke

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas! :)

I want to do EOTDs and FOTDs (if possible) using my recently purchased L'Oreal Infallible shadows.
I am planning to use just single shade with eyeliner and mascara, so it would be like swatching on eyelids.

(Yes, I am recycling my pics. ;) )

Haul, Swatch - L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow & Colour Riche Balm SPF 15

I secretly hoped that I would find these highly anticipated Infallible eye shadows before the new year, so imagine how happy I am today to finally find them! :D (another "squeee" moment)
I also saw a display of L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm but I grabbed only one color being a good girl. :)

I wanted to quickly show these to you and share my initial thoughts and swatches. ^-^

Review, Swatch - Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

Lazy Sunday afternoon is perfect for playing with your new lippies. :)
I've had a headache all day so I ditched my usual Sunday rehearsal and swatched my new Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters instead.

Swatch, FOTD - Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Raspberry Bite

Today, I wore Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Raspberry Bite (745).
This is the most stunning red shade in my book, and the lipstick itself is so creamy and has excellent color payoff.

Review, Rant - DueBa Dreamy.i Hazel

Ok, this is probably the worst looking and feeling contact lenses I have ever had. -_-+++

As many of you know, I wasn't very happy with this Dreamy.i model even in Grey color (which is actually so much better looking than this Hazel) as well as the online store called lensvillage.com who sold these to me.
It seems that this company has grown quite big by blog-marketing and they are able to offer nice discount price and big sales.
However, at this point I am not so sure if these Dreamy.i lenses are even legit because the Grey color ones felt thick and quite uncomfortable unlike the other design from DueBa brand ( Kira Kira Pink ), and today I found out my Hazel color ones are defective!

Maybe I should have known.
It looked a little crooked even from the vial.

Haul - Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter (Squeee!!!)

Seriously, as a self-claimed beauty blogger, I have been feeling ashamed about not being able to find any of these much-talked-about Revlon Lip Butters. ; /
I finally found a display at my local drug store (meaning a rite-aid store on the first floor of my apartment building) and literally did a happy dance.
(Yes, people looked. -_-;;;)

I got 6 of them. I ended up paying only for about $5 each since Revlon cosmetics are on sale and I had a coupon. ;)

Small Haul and Review - eos

I am telling you..twitting is another way of shopping disguised. *sighs*
Obviously I am not in the need of getting more lip balm or lotion but I had to order some from eos as soon as I saw the 20% off code on Twitter.
(note to myself - DO NOT follow beauty/fashion brands)

So here they are..
I got a value lip balm set, hand lotion and hand & body lotion.

Review - Skinfood Olive Mask

This was the first item I tried from Tiffany's giveaway package.
I don't have dry skin but lately I have been experiencing some dry patches on my cheeks due to the change of weather.

This whole thing looks quite edible with spoon and everything..
but DO NOT EAT!
;)

NOTD - Essie Little Brown Dress

This very dark chocolate/espresso color with glossy creme finish came out as part of Essie fall 2010 collection.
It is a little streaky to apply but the finish is pretty even after 2 coats.
In the picutre, I am wearing this with Duri base coat & Revlon Top speed top coat.

I wouldn't say Little Brown Dress is my go-to dark shade, but this is rather special because it still looks brown indoors as dark as it may be. ;)
(Don't you hate it when your pretty vampy shades reveal their true identities only under sunlight?)

Swatch, Review - stila Sunrise set (beauty.com holiday exclusive)

This is supposedly a beauty.com exclusive and it was only $25 for the set during the cyber week sale.
Now I see the price went up to $35, but 4 full size eyeshadow pans, an aluminum case, a smudge stick liner and a multi-use makeup brush for that price is still pretty nice. :)
(I also ordered a Nars blush with this and got $10 off with code, so it was a great bargain which is better than the recent stila warehouse sale.)

There are 2 different sets (Sunrise and Moonrise) available. I wanted a warm brown colors that would replace my Maybelline Natural Smokes quad, and Sunrise seemed perfect for that.

Review, Video - DueBa Dreamy.i Gray

This is my most recent lens purchase from lensvillage.com.
They were on sale for just $13 per pair.
However, I am pretty much underwhelmed about the lenses and the company who sold them to me. : /

Here is my review on DueBa Dreamy.i lenses in Gray color.

NOTD - Zoya Dannii

Sorry, it is another purple polish.. ;)

Dannii is part of last spring Intimate collection (which is by the way, one of the best collections in years in my opinion) and described as "Medium orchid purple with pink and champagne highlights and flecks of silver metallic shimmer". (from zoya.com)

Review - mark Lemon Sugar

This is not a planned posting, but this scent is the choice for my shower tonight so I thought I would quickly share this with you. ;)

mark Lemon Sugar line is my absolute favorite out all of the mark products.
I have gone through many bottles and tubs of shower gel and body butter in this scent and I plan to stock up whenever they are on sale.

This is my review on NEO COSMO Glamour lenses in Brown color. ;)

Swatch, Review - stila Backstage Eye Shadow Palette

I bought this only recently although it seems this palette was introduced last holiday season.
I love everything about this simple (well, compared to all those bling-y holiday collections of this year anyway) palette, and I am glad I still got this a year later after it came out.
Better late than never, right? ;)

This palette contains six eyeshadows.

Review - e.l.f. Studio High Definition Powder

When I first heard about this loose powder, I had a feeling this would be similar to my holy grail Chacott finishing powder in translucent.
I am happily reporting to you that e.l.f Studio HD powder comes very very close at much lower cost! :D

Review - John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Shampoo, Conditioner & Perfect Ends Sheer Mist

I am a big fan of John Frieda hair care line, and actually their Brilliant Brunette line is my staple. (They smell scrumptious and make my hair so soft! However, today it is not about them. ;p)
I got these shampoo, conditioner and hair mist about 3 months ago when I colored my hair pitch black. My hair is quite full and healthy but it did feel drier and stiff after coloring it.

Fragrance - Salvatore Ferragamo Incanto Charms

This was introduced in 2005, so it is quite an oldie. :)
I am wearing this pretty and feminine scent very often lately and I wanted to share this with you.
There are many Incanto flankers (bliss, dream, heaven, bloom..etc) and I am sure we will see at least a couple more in the future, but I don't really mind them.

11.19.2011

NOTD - Sinful Winterberry

This is another purple/gray polish that looks sophisticated and rich, which is perfect for the season.

I put Revlon Perplex on my ring finger for comparison.
The major difference would be the finish where Winterberry shimmers more visibly with silver specs.
I still prefer Perplex since it looks more complex and elegant to me, but I totally get the name of the color (doesn't it remind you of frosted blueberries?) and adore the pretty silver shimmers. :)

Application was pretty nice with no problem. ;)
For your reference, Duri Grape and Zoya Nimue are supposed to be close to Sinful Winterberry.

Swatch, Review - Zoya Hot Lips Glossy Lip Balm

Zoya has this cute line of Lip Gloss / Lip Balm called "Hot Lips".
A lot of people seem to like them, so obviously I got curious and bought me a couple of tubes.
Here is my review and swatches on Zoya Hot Lips in Minx and Boudoir. :)

Review, Swatch - Butter London No More Waity, Katie

I read more than a couple reviews saying this shade is a "let-down" even before my purchase, but I still had get it. :)
This glittered but muted grey/lilac color looked very unique to me, not that I follow any of the Royal Affairs.
It is for sure the name and the time when it was released contributed a lot to the huge success of this color, though.

11.09.2011

Review, FOTD - Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Temptress

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Temptress is a medium pink with a bit of sheen.
(Revlon categorizes this as creme finish, but it is hard to see it that way. Some even say this goes on frosty.)

The coverage is sheer to medium, the color shows up nicely when I apply it the way I usually do (over matte lip balm - apply once - blot - apply again).
I find this quite moisturizing and comfortable on my lips and it looks most flattering when paired with neutral brown eyeshadows.

I haven't worn this shade much up until now, although I went totally gaga over the whole collection when it was relaunched last year.
There is definitely a glamorous retro quality and rich feel to this pink color, which is probably why I did not succeed pulling it off during the last spring and summer. :)

Swatch, Short Review - tarte Lip Service Limited-Edition LipSurgence Collection

So I jumped on the bandwagon and got this set! ;D
This is an amazing deal ($29 for the set!) when you consider a single Lipsurgence costs $24.
Then, I know I would never pay full price for them. I personally think it is too expensive no matter how great they are!
Tarte claims this product will boost the moisture level by 6000%.
I mean, really? 6000%??! -_-+
I am a little annoyed here, but all is forgiven after they offered this super deal. ^-^

Review - NEO COSMO Princess Eyes Purple Violet + FOTD

I fell in love with this particular model when I saw Rosebud143 (on YouTube) 's video and her oh-so-pretty pictures.
It is basically the same design as GEO tri-color Violet. This also has no obvious rings and design of three colors meshed together.
I honestly didn't think they are similar in design when I ordered this NEO Princess Eyes pair, so at first I was very disappointed thinking they are almost identical.
At least they look very much alike from the lens cases.
To my relief however, they look quite different on because this Princess Eyes Purple Violet is much lighter in color and gives much noticeable effects because of it.

It looks almost pale pink. (matches with the pink piggy case ^-^)
Outer ring is cool dark gray and inner part is light brown color.

Review - Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips

I am not much into nail arts or crackle polishes myself although I appreciate creativity and efforts of other fellow nail bloggers and love looking at their NOTD pics. :)
However, I did want to try these to see how they would work for me. I thought it would be an easy solution if I want different looks on my nails without having to spend too much time and effort. ;p

There are 26 different colors and designs available in the core collection plus those Halloween patterns that came out recently.
I picked up No. 360 Laced Up from the drugstore downstairs and paid about $9.50 for it.
The set includes 16 nail strips of different size and shape (packaged again in 2 separate sealed containers), a mini nail file, a short wood stick, and instruction.

NOTD - Misa Toxic Seduction

Today, I felt like wearing Misa's deep shimmery green called "Toxic Seduction".
(It is an amazing shade from the "Poisoned Passion" collection in 2008.)

NOTD Misa Toxic Seduction

I don't really like green colors mainly because they don't love me back, but this is a regardlessly beautiful color that even fetches me compliments sometimes.
It is dark and shimmery -almost teal but not quite- kind of a complex.
This goes on a little thick like many other Misa nail polishes but it is nothing hard to manage. I only needed to apply a careful one coat over Duri basecoat finished with Seche Vite topcoat.

Thanks for looking! :)

Review - GEO tri-color (World Series) Violet

Here is my review for GEO tri-color (aka world series) lenses in violet color.
I believe this is a quite popular model for it's natural design and comfort and you can find them from most sellers for around $20 or so.

item details
Brand: GEO
Origin: South Korea
Water content: 38% - 42%
Diameter: 14.0 mm
Base Curve: 8.4 - 8.6
Duration: 1 year disposable

color/design - 7.5/10
Very nice and natural.
The violet color is neutral, which was a bit of a disappointment to me cause I wanted more noticeable violet/purple. It looks almost hazel under some indoor lighting.
It doesn't have obvious limbal rings and the pigmentation is rather sheer. I don't think it would make significant difference for lighter colored eyes.
My naturally dark brown eyes look brighter and mellow with these on.

comfort - 8/10
Comfortable. I would have given it even higher score if I had not experienced NEO lenses.
They feel still very comfortable and I can wear them up to 8 hrs with no problem.
I am starting to believe the comfort level has a lot to do with the lens diameter as well as the water content.

enlargement effect - 6/10
They don't make your eyes huge nor give they dolly effect. I still see a little bit of enlargement due to the brighter color.

Overall, this is a nice choice if you are into natural looking color lenses and want some change if not drastic.
They allow me to have more fun with makeup (for example, I can wear green eye shadows which usually is no friend of mine.) and I can wear them to work without looking crazy. ;p
However, I think there are better color choices for my current skin tone and hair color. They would look better with lighter brown hair color.
Like the girl here..

Review - NEO Dali Sweet Chocolate Brown + FOTD

I got these as a part of Dali + Lucky Clover deal from koreabigeyes.com. (I believe they still have this promotion.. 2 NEO pairs for $45, is pretty sweet.)

Here is the specs for this lens model.

Brand: NEO
Origin: South Korea
Water content: 45%
Diameter: 14.2 mm effect
Base Curve: 8.6
Duration: 1 year disposable

After I tried GEO magic circle ck-105  and found out to my surprise that I don't really like "circle lenses",I was a little worried about how these would look on me. They are supposed to be very subtle and natural looking but they do have rings, right? Also, I am not so interested in brown colors having brown eyes already. :)

Thank God, I like them very much and reach for them quite often, actually.
These lenses give me the very desired effect, and my eyes look slightly bigger and innocent without making me feel that I have some sort of bug-eyes. The color almost perfectly matches with my natural eye color.

I dub thee my "YEBB (Your Eyes But Better)" lenses, Dali Sweet Chocolate. lol

They are so comfortable just like all the NEO lenses I have tried so far. I am starting to think I prefer NEO brand over GEO although Geo makes tons of interesting designs.

I threw away the original bottles(again), but have some pics for you to show how they look. :)

A close-up of my eye with Dali Sweet Chocolate Brown on
The outer rings are finely dotted, which I believe why they look more natural than my GEO black circle lenses.

(It is ridiculous how you can see the reflection of my camera so clearly. ha ha)

Short review - NEO COSMO 4 tone Lucky Clover Blue + FOTD

I am sad to report that the Lucky Clover Blue contacts look almost same on me as the Lucky Glover Gray ones. ; (
This doesn't mean I don't like them. I still love them very much and even got a few compliments last time when I was wearing them. They are just not dramatically different so I would have more fun, is all.

Please see my review on NEO COSMO 4 tone Lucky Clover Gray for details.

Here is a close-up.

As you see, the color is more of a vibrant blue with some green tinge.
Unfortunately, the difference is hard to see from a distance.

Review, Swatch - mark Lipclick SPF 15 Color Shine Lipstick

I was a big fan of mark sheer lipsticks, so I was totally bummed when they discontinued them.
For a while, mark only had a full color lipstick line, which I can't really dare to try cause full coverage lipcolors usually look terrible(!) on me.
So I was very happy to see they finally introduced this new product with sheer moisturizing formula called Lipclick Color Shine Lipstick. :)
I think the price is now a couple bucks more compared to the old ones. (ah, the art of marketing..)
At least they come in sturdier case that is magnetic so they click together (It is actually a very cool thing.) plus sun protection.

Review - NEO COSMO 4 tone Lucky Clover Gray + FOTD

I have been eyeing on NEO contacts cause I have seen lots of rave reviews about how they are so comfortable with higher water content.
I ordered 4 pairs of NEO from koreabigeyes.com this time and these are one of them.
(I wonder if each seller has different dips for different manufacturers because I see this seller has better deals on NEO brand but with smaller selections of GEO, etc.)
They were having "Dali + Lucky Clover" promotion which is only $45 for 2 pairs, so it was an awesome deal. :)
(I also got Lucky Clover Blue, Dali Chocolate Brown and Princess Eyes Cosmo Purple Violet. Will do separate reviews on them. ;) )

This is what they look like in lens case.
As you see, they are rather blueish color, not exactly gray.
