Issey Miyake L'eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum

L'eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum review

This year, Issey Miyake has introduced a new flanker to brand's iconic L'eau d'Issey (1993). To be accurate, Pure Nectar de Parfum is a sweet fruity sister of L'eau d'Issey Pure EDP, which was announced in 2016 as the second chapter in the history of L'eau d'Issey.

The Nectar Edition represents "the ultimate stage in the metamorphosis of water, from see to dew and from dew to rose."

Top notes: Pear
Middle notes: Aquatic Accord, Honey, Rose Absolute
Base Note:  Ambergris, Cashmeran, Sandalwood

L'eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum review

Now, I did know that I'd like L'eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum even before the first spritz. I like fragrances with a rose accord and the base notes - Ambergris, Cashmeran, and Sandalwood - guarantee an elegantly sexy drydown. I couldn't be entirely sure if I would love the perfume, though. I've had mixed experience with fruity notes and same goes for honey accords so I did not know how they would play out on me. You can say I was almost anxious to find out if the nectar inside was as beautiful as the feminine minimalistic exterior.

It opens sweet but not in a cloying or sticky way. On me, that juicy pear note is realistic but does not linger too long. I don't miss it much because the transition to the next stage is so quick and smooth and what comes next is even better. The signature aquatic note is clearly there but softened by the sweetness of honey, which I appreciate so much. And, there the prettiest roses await. The last stage is a creamy skin scent that lingers and lingers.

L'eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum review

I am delighted (and surprised) that L'eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum is essentially a rosy scent on me, and fresh and unique one as well. "From dew to rose", indeed.

Pure Nectar de Parfum is one of the most surprising and pleasant finds of this spring. It is very easy to wear yet it tells me an interesting and coherent story with a happy ending. I love that the scent is never overwhelming nor obnoxious despite the clear presence that fetches many compliments.

  1. This scent sounds like a lovely followup to the original L'eau d'Issey which was one of my favorites. It's nice how they kept the overall concept of the iconic bottle design and modified it to reflect the more feminine side of the scent. The fragrance itself sounds perfect for the warmer weather and from reading your description, I really want to experience it now :) The sweetness of honey is particularly intriguing!

    1. I love that this Japanese house embraced the current trend but went with honey, not a sickly sweet kind. My experience with Pure Nectar de Parfum has made me try the previous versions (Pure EDP & EDT) as well. :)

  2. I am quite fond of rose and cashmere notes in fragrances. This sounds really lovely, and I've not tried any Issey Miyake scents, certainly not this but adore the packaging/bottle design. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    1. The original one still smells modern and current after all these years, which is remarkable. Having said that, I think I prefer the second chapter - Pure. Do give it a try when you get a chance. If you like those notes, I am sure you will enjoy this one. :)
