Look Book 1 | Bright Lips & Neutral Eyes

Happy new year, everyone!

Rather than publishing a few more posts that are overdue, I changed the blog design yet again and thought of starting a new series. This is same as good old stash shopping underneath, but I'd like to call it "Look Book". Each post will consist of a tray (an unused dinner plate, actually) of makeup products and an overall look. I did one a while ago on Instagram and people seemed to enjoy the idea of seeing these two together. The track record shows that I am terrible at doing a series so I can't promise anything, but let's have a little faith as I even made a cover picture for this one.

Can you believe I had never applied MAC Satin Taupe on my lids until recently? I've swatched it on my arm multiple times, of course. I am not big on MAC and there are only a limited number of things I tried or bought with my own money. I like MAC 217 brush a lot and heard it was being discontinued soon. While trying to buy a backup, I scored a few good deals on sets that included popular MAC brushes such as 219. Hopefully, I will do a proper review on these eyeshadows and other goods, but let me just say that I might be looking at the brand a bit differently now. I am sure there are finer things but also there is no reason that I should live without this practical and useful stuff!

I wear bright lips to a conservative work setting and this is how I usually make it work - simple neutral eyes, very little or no blush, and matte lips. I am quite fond of Lancôme Matte Shaker as I find it comfortable to wear and easy to control the color intensity. Rowena of Rolala Loves gifted this beautiful hot pink, Pink Power when we met up, and I've been loving it ever since.

This is similar to the first one but with warmer lips and cooler eyes, I think. Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara is the first non-waterproof mascara that I actually liked in years. I detest the name but it does make my lashes big, and more importantly, it does not uncurl them. I look forward to a wp version to come out soon. Dior Vertigo and Revlon Romantic make a good lasting combo as they are essentially the same color.

HERA UV Mist Cushion is a very solid one with a dewy finish and more coverage, but I can't wear this often because the scent gives me a headache sometimes. The L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer Dark Brunette is comparable to  Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ebony, and I think I might like the L'Oreal slightly better (neither is my holy grail, by the way).

Hope you enjoyed this post. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you have any question.
