Proganix Quench Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In Moisture & Moisture Balm

Proganix is a new pro-series hair care from the team who brought out the OGX line.
I was quite excited when I received the Quench (it is one of the six different ranges introduced) gift set because around that time I started seeing them at retailers like Ulta and Target and got curious as well.
To me, it seems that Proganix lineup is mostly about enhancements based on the existing OGX range since I see the popular fragrances like Coconut and Cherry Blossom adopted into the new range.
Quench line is similarly scented and has the same "hydrating" concept as OGX Coconut Milk stuff, but supposedly with amplified performance. Proganix Quench line contains coconut water and electrolytes to help hydrate and nourish dry hair.

Let me just say that this actual gift box with full sized items is much appreciated.
Honestly, I hate dealing with sample packets especially when I am in a shower. I can't enjoy it no matter how great a hair care product is if my wet hands fail to open the packet that I end up using my teeth instead.
(The joke aside, a sample should be in a form which enables us to enjoy and learn about the product. Period.)

1. Proganix Quench Shampoo & Conditioner

Both shampoo and conditioner smell like Piña colada; sweet, coconut-y and slightly tangy. The hint of citrus prevents the coconut scent from being too sweet, which I like. After blow-drying, my hair actually smells like freshly tumble-dried linen. LOVE.
The products themselves are pretty great, too. This sulfate-free shampoo is a pearly liquid that lathers creamy and cleanses well without the drying sensation afterward. The conditioner is very thick that it reminds me of scrumptious custard. It is intensely emollient, but it does not feel greasy and rinses off easily.
The combination leaves each of my hair strands plumped up. My hair actually feels thicker when I comb through with my fingers. It feels bouncy rather than weighed down. I am not so sure how this combo would work on fine hair (although there is an option for that type), but I know I enjoy this "healthy" weight and volume.

2. Proganix Leave-In Moisture

You can use this multi-functioning spray in different ways. The instruction card suggests that before swimming in the pool you soak your hair completely then coat strands with Quench Leave-in Moisture to protect hair from harsh chemicals. I don't go swimming on a regular basis so I just spray this on towel-dried hair before I blow-dry. I also spritz another coat to add shine (and some more yumminess) after I finish. This is a great heat protectant and doubles as a weightless finisher.

3. Proganix Quench Moisture Balm

I think dry/processed hair types would appreciate this moisturizing hair balm more. The suggestion card says you can put a generous amount to hair and wrap it overnight, which I would never do because sleep is important to me. I have used it as a light hair mask before a shower, though. It makes my hair silky smooth, but I have been using it more to "sleek" my hair for an updo. I even tried it on my dry calves once. (It was fine.)
Mineral oil and dimethicone are pretty up there on the ingredient list, so please be aware if you are sensitive to those.

If I can overlook the "200x more concentrated than its natural state" claim, Proganix Quench is excellent hair care regimen and welcome addition to my shower booth.
If you already are a fan of the OGX Coconut Milk line, you might want to check this out (and possibly tell me how they are different).
For me, this introduction has been quite pleasant that I've gotten interested in trying additional stuff from Proganix.

  1. They sound great, Lena. Unfortunately, my hair and scalp are very fussy. Also, the brand is not available here. I'm still trying to find the right hair products for me but it's such a hassle. I'm a total minimalist when it comes to hair care!

    1. My hair is pretty much easygoing, but I have been avoiding mass marketed brands like Pantene and Herbal Essences, for example. (I still like L'Oreal stuff since I definitely see they are taking advantage of the subbrand, Kerastase.) Brands like Proganix would be the slightly-upgraded-drugstore choice for me.
Just like you, I don't normally bother with additional hair stuff than shampoo and conditioner. I have been loving the spray, though. :)

  2. I have thin, fine hair so I'm not sure if this is the right range for me. I am a huge fan of OGX Argan Oil conditioner, still one of the best I've tried so I'm going to look out for the fine hair option of this new range.

    1. I love the Argan Oil range as well! The fragrance reminds me of a lighter version of Dior J'adore to me, and I've used more than a few sets myself. I think you might be lucky with this Proganix range. The volumizing line comes in the same blue color so I'm wondering if that is the advanced version of the OGX Argan Oil stuff in the same scent! :)

  3. I've tried the Organix brand before and this sounds like a nice step up. I will have to make a note try it when I use up the huge stash of Alterna products I received a few months back. I think It might take up to a year for that since I only wash my hair 1-2x a week cause my scalp seems to do better that way.

The pumpkin bears are adorbs. Fall is a good time to visit the Bronx Zoo as it's usually more "fragrant" during the warmer months. It's been many years since my last visit. Happy weekend Lena ^_^

    1. Ahahaha. "fragrant" is so true and so funny. That's exactly what I am thinking! I doubt that I would actually see bears playing with pumpkins, but I do love bears! And I might as well take advantage of my NYC ID card since it grants one admission to the zoo a year. :)
I usually keep at least three sets of shampoo and conditioner and am expecting another trial set in the mail. Which is why I prefer tubes similarly sized like these Proganix ones.

  4. Oh they changed the name again? I used to buy organix all the time and stuck with it for 2 years, for the variety of scents but later I realized that this brand gives me crazy itchy/flaky scalp. I switched to loreal my hair was doing fine and when I switched back and it was localized snowstorm allover again.

Later I realized that the itch started exactly when I started using the brand. Now I am just using lush bar or random japanese ones(mostly for the smell).

    1. No, it's their sister brand. A fancier one, I guess. Proganix is supposedly a pro-series of OGX or that's how I see it. And this Quench shampoo is sulfate free as far as I know. (I should mention it in the post, by the way.)
I think you mentioned before that the brand does not agree with you. Sorry to hear that! Do you think certain sulfates make your scalp more sensitive? Some OGX did nothing for me although I have a few favorites like Argan Oil and Tsubaki Blossom.

    2. It's probably not sulfate(orgenix was sulfate free to start with)....and Lush has sodium laureth sulfate as their first ingredient. Just some other fancy ingredient they use....

    3. I think they started using sulfates when they changed the name Organix to OGX. Some of them have other kinds than sodium laurel sulfate (which is probably the mildest) like ammonium lauryl sulfate (this cleanses more so is used in clarifying shampoos often). So I guess I was wondering if you're sensitive to those. My scalp gets a little itchy if I use Pantene for example, which usually contains ALS.
Anyway, knowing what works and what doesn't for us is the most important thing. I see the new line different enough from the OGX, but you probably wouldn't feel so adventurous because of your experience. :)

  5. LOL I never had to open some hair care product with my teeth haha, but I know what I mean some of them are so tightly shut, I might end up breaking my nails! Now I wonder if we have Proganix here, will check it out.

    1. Haha, if it is in a bottle, I wouldn't use my teeth. I was talking about those sachets, but I normally avoid dealing with them. It was a half joke! ;D And, yeah. We have to worry about our nails too, right??!
The brand is not a mass brand even here, but I'm glad to see they are branching out. I like their stuff. :)

  6. LOLOL! I related so hard to this: "I can't enjoy it no matter how great a hair care product is if my wet hands fail to open the packet that I end up using my teeth instead." YES X INFINITY! This line sounds awesome. I'm a huge fan of the Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner and have repurchased them several times over. My husband loves the Biotin and Collagen shampoo because it makes his hair "thick and bouncy" - his words, LOL! I will definitely try this range!

    1. Honestly, that's why I usually don't bother with sample sachets unless I am really curious about a product! ;D
And yes, I think you'd really enjoy this range. I actually thought about you since your like the Coconut Milk range! I will have to try a few more varieties to be able to conclude, but it seems the new Proganix line is as nice as some salon brands and the price is great.

  7. YES - that is exactly how I feel about "overnight" hair masks. It takes me forever to get ready for bed as it is, WHY would I add more steps and towels and weirdness? NO. Hahahaha. Also, let's face it, my hair is short and I like it that way, BECAUSE NO FUSS. I do run an Aveda product in my hair after I shower, though, because otherwise it fluffs up. Because of that, I do sometimes need a clarifying shampoo...that I do not have yet. T_T

    1. LOL. I would never be able to fall asleep, and that can be great for scalp anyway, right? I do enjoy applying this balm concentrating to the end and wash it off, which does make a difference yet I can sleep well no problem! ;D
I usually go for volumizing shampoo because it usually cleanse very well and not as striping as some of the clarifying ones.

    1. Hi, Doretha! Thanks for sharing my post on FB and your opinion here as well. :)
My hair is pretty thick (well, it's not fine), and I could feel the difference right away when I first gave them a try.
I also like that we have easy accesses to their products. BOGO sale is rare to come by nowadays. That's fantastic! :)
