Lancôme Baume In Love Urban Ballet

Lancome Baume In Love Urban Ballet

Remember when I was complaining that L'Oreal Balm Pop isn't balmy enough? So I went ahead and ordered a Lancôme Baume In Love hoping to fix the iffy situation. In a sane world, a tinted lip balm should be sheer, balmy, and tender on lips, don't you think?
Let's just say Lancôme Baume In Love has brought the balance back to my cosmetic world and to my lips, and I love it.

Lancome Baume In Love
Baume In Love is...pretty.
The slightly chubby brushed metal tube is sturdy and hefty, somewhat justifying the price ($26.50).

Lancome Baume In Love Urban Ballet
Urban Ballet is a sheer fluorescent pink.

I am pretty sure Urban Ballet is one of those colors that react to body heat and pH level and look different on individuals. The color I see on my lips reminds me of the Dior Lip Glow Pink. Both give me the most naturally blushed pink color, but Baume In Love is much balmier (almost slippery but not in a bad way) while the Dior sets into something a bit tacky so it lasts longer.

It is interesting that the color doesn't even show up on my arm (hence no arm swatch. Why bother?). However, on the lips, the color shows up more than enough, and almost immediately like a reaction. The pink is warmer than what the bullet color suggests. It looks even and brightening (unlike those Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment) still maintaining the glossy balmy nature.

The conditioning and smoothing effect is phenomenal. I have to say it feels nothing short of amazing on lips.

Cargo Blush Amalfi,

Sure, there are affordable alternatives like L'Oreal Le Balm (which I also love) and Maybelline Baby Lips.
However, if you care about lipstick packagings like I do and have a budget for a Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment for instance, you might be surprised by Lancôme Baume In Love.

    1. I agree, Raimar. :)
It looks very natural yet it doesn't wash me out. Love it. :)

  2. I've always admired the pretty packaging for this. Glad that you love it! I like my current tinted balms but they're not as fancy, lol.

    1. I actually think my other favorite L'Oreal Le Balm is almost as good as this. But the case easily cracks (3 of them cracked on me, so I know that the case isn't sturdy).
Baume In Love offers an interesting color range, too. I'm eyeing the deep purple shade. ;)

  4. Really beautiful on you! I had to reapply this every 15 minutes because it wasn't balmy enough for me, but I did love the color and the packaging.

    1. Thank you!
Sorry to hear it isn't as moisturizing on you. True I have to reapply often to keep the glossy finish going, but I think it is still more moisturizing than most. I want to get another one (but I'm not in hurry..the GWP has to be right. ;p)

  5. Ooh where did you buy this?! I missed these when they first came out as LE couple years back (bought the violet one for my mother in law but didn't get one for myself), now I can't find them on Sephora or Hudson Bay. It's one of my LE regrets :( It looks pretty on you!

    1. oh and I forgot to add my favorite tinted lip balms are the YSL volupte sheer candy balms. They're expensive though so I try not to buy too many (have 4 so far...)

    2. I ordered this from the Lancome USA site. I didn't know they were LEs! They have been permanent for some time. It seems they have added more colors, too.
Oh, I just checked the Lancome Canada site and they have it, but only Urban Ballet is available. ;(

And thanks for sharing your favorite, Meiko! I really liked the finish and the colors when I swatched them but the scent isn't my favorite plus the price...so I passed. *sigh*

    3. Ooh I didn't think about the Lancome website =P I have never ordered from there before. In Canada, the baumes came out with the whole line of "in love" things, like the eyeliners etc. Then they disappeared for some time, and I have no idea when they came back, but good to hear they're back! I just checked Sephora and they don't carry it still (at least the Canadian website), aw hope more of the shades come north soon!

  8. Oh this is so pretty,Lena! Love the subtle hint of color.. I agree with you about the Fresh tinted lip balms, I've tried 2 shades from the range and just didn't get all the hypes.. They are sooooo slippery and don't apply evenly..
My fave tinted lip balm is the Clinique original chubby stick range :)

    1. Thank you, Pam!
Yeah, I really don't get the Fresh hypes. They are melty and not housed properly so the stick is wobbly. Plus I'm not a fan of the synthetic sugar scent. Baume In Love is scented but very faintly. ;)

  9. Oh I am such a sucker for those balm translucent slightly neon pink colored lip products! The tint really suits your complexion and that's great that it seriously performs so well! Definitely worth it's price tag! I currently haven't been using any tinted balms but have been using plenty of natural oil based lip balms to keep my lips hydrated as they dry out waaaaay too easily! :p

    1. Nowadays it is even difficult to find a tinted lip balm that is sheerly tinted. I personally believe too much pigment gets in the way of moisturizing properly. Plus what is the difference between lip balm and lipstick, you know?
So Baume In Love gets A+ as a tinted lip balm. :D

  10. I really love that the top not too pointy but comes in slightly rectangular shape.the tint also came out well ! I should give it a try :)

    1. I'd say it is as standard lipstick bullet and mounted quite sturdily so it doesn't wobble or anything like, uhm, Fresh Lip treatment.
Tint is very subtle yet noticeable. :)

It is perfect to wear on a bare face as well as for a complement smoky makeup without looking washed out.

  12. Ooh, this is pretty! I actually don't mind investing in balms because I think they're something that gets used really often, making the price tag worth it - and for something that is primarily about texture, it's important to find something that we love!

    1. I totally agree. I tend to repeat myself on this, but sheer things are important! ;D

BTW, the foundation is so nice. I truly love it. I kind of forget why I like the new NARS foundation..that kind of nice. Thanks, Larie! <3

  13. I think I'd buy this for the lovely packaging alone but the sheer wash of pink is so modestly pretty as well. I currently use the Fresh Sugar in Petal and have never had any issues with it.

I need to test the Stella EDT again before I decide to buy it or not but man is that bottle TDF ^_~

    1. Maybe I find the Fresh Sugar to soft and jelly like. I've tried 3 colors and they are quite strongly pigmented so I kind of consider them as lip colors (nowadays it is hard to define a lippie. I'm glad in a sense that the word "lippie" came along. LOL).

BTW, Scentbird reached out so I might give a good try on Stella EDT if they have it. ^-^;; Maybe it will work this time..I really want that full dotted bottle!

  14. Ahh, I love this tube...I was thinking about getting a Fresh Tinted balm (the one with rose prints allover, since that one smells like roses instead of lemon) now I want this just for the packaging...If this is pH adjusting, this will turn super-bright hot pink on me (which isn't unflattering but I have enough products that do that kind of thing) so I think I will take a look at the red one called very cherry...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Very Cherry is a very pretty color! I am still wondering if the pH thing is just for this color (for that, I'm pretty sure) due to the kind of pigment used. I notice pink colors with similar undertones tend to do it while leaving a nice stain behind.
Anyway, a rose-smelling Fresh sounds much better, but I kind of hate that wobbly structure and packaging. Baume In Love is a few more bucks, but much better product in my opinion. ;)

  15. So pretty :-) I always repurchase my Dior Lip Glow and Lancome's counter service here kinda sucks so I won't be purchasing this anytime soon. Hahaha!

    1. Thank you, Lily!
I still enjoy my Dior Lip Glow, too. The tackiness is a kind that I like - not excessive, just enough so it stays on. This Lancome one is closer to a traditional tinted balm. Sorry to hear about the counter service, though! To think about it, I generally dislike interacting with sales associates at a cosmetic counter. Plus I get better perks from online ordering. They should mind this and try harder! ;)
