Paul & Joe Beaute Sheer Lipstick #108 Pink Balloon

Sorry about the three consecutive lippie posts! After a rather busy week, I just want to do a simple lipstick post.
(I hear it is the first day of spring..? As I'm writing this, it is snowing again in the city!)

You've seen this Paul & Joe Sheer Lipstick Pink Balloon in my recent haul post. This is like a replacement for my long lost Cupids Kiss (which was quite a similar shade in the same sheer formula). I also got the same plastick lipstick case for practical reasons since this one was also meant to be carried in my makeup bag to perform as "an all occasion pink lipstick". (I am always tempted to get one of those beautifully illustrarated paper cases, though.)

I like this lipstick very much, but nothing is unique or spectacular about it. See, I even wore it once before I took some pictures of it. No excitement was induced by this cool pink lipstick with sheer and glossy finish, because honestly I have at least 5 of them that are similar.
But is the Pink Balloon fairest of all? Probably.

Pink Balloon is a bright pink for sure, but it is quite tame and wearable having some plum undertones.

It is sheerer and glossier than L'Oreal Colour Riche Pop Balm I've recently reviewed.
The formula feels more comfortable on lips than I remembered about the Cupids Kiss, which means it doesn't end up peeling my lips, which makes reapplications much easier.
The initial glossy finish quickly disappears leaving an attractive stain behind. I think I actually like the stained look better.

This season, I am consciously buying more coral and orange-y lip colors hoping to venture into a new color realm, but I cannot completely ditch the cool pink ones. What can I say? They are just easy and comforting, like the old friends.

Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend.

  1. This lipstick screams Lena pretty loud! Most probably too sheer to show up well on me, but on you it's great! So sorry to hear about the snow. We had a really grey day here. I was expecting more from spring!

    1. I am prepared to see snow even in April, but it is the first day of spring! It snowed on March 1st, too. LOL
At least I got to stay inside and blog about a cheery pink lipstick. :)
Pink Balloon is very sheer but the color itself is on the vibrant side, so I am guessing it would show up on you. ;)

  2. I love sheer cool pinks like this one, Lena! I can see why you would have multiples of this type of shade, it looks very pretty on you. Are the P&J's scented?

    1. Thanks, Belly!
Yes, Paul & Joe lipsticks are faintly scented with their signature white florals. It is quite delicate, though. Everything from Paul & Joe seems satisfactory not that it is amazing or anything. Albion is the manufacturer if you're familiar. :)

  3. I think of these colors as Lena shades :) I'm actually trying to get into pinks more this season (vs my usual reds & oranges), but I'm backsliding into red, lately, lol!

    1. Haha, I gotta thank Tracy for that!
I just bought the Coco shade from the reformulated Chanel Rouge Coco range. It is orange. Period. I feel scared that this pricey one wouldn't agree with me being orange..but what is done is done. We will see. ;p

  4. Love it on you! Very Lena! ;) I'm trying to buy more orange and corals as well-it's tough when pinks really call to you I agree!

    1. Orange and corals would look great with the new color in your hair! I'm planning to incorporate blue and navy clothings and eye makeup so I can pull these warm colors off a bit better. Hope it works. ;)

  5. So every time I see Paul & Joe beauty packaging I just want to ogle it ^_^ This one is no exception and the color is lovely on you Lena.

It sounds like Roses de Chloe and Stella wear just the opposite on us. There must be something to this chemistry thing eh ;p

Happy weekend! Let's hope this snow doesn't pile up.

    1. I know! The packaging plays a big part in my Paul & Joe purchases. I just love the ivory and peachy pinks with embossed flower designs. The scent is even my favorite.
It makes sense how Roses de Chloe works on me since most rose scents quickly becomes so heavy on me (I've tried many to find something fresh). Interesting to hear Stella works like that on me. I'm jealous, actually! :)

  6. what a lovely color, it looks very nice on you, Lena :)
the packaging from Paul&Joe is just divine! I just love the brand ^^
We have been lucky with weather this past 2 weeks, it has been sunny and pretty 'warm' at 10-12'C.. But the weather forecast said the temperature will sink tomorrow and next week :/ I am already so excited for spring..

I love winter and my winter coats, but the last two winters we had were quite harsh. I know Germany has long winters, too. No wonder so many German composers wrote various art songs starting "Frühling". :)

  7. Love how the colour reminds me so much of spring! Paul & Joe has the prettiest packaging - I'd collect them all if I could!! I can relate to you about the snow - I'm Canadian after all! Hope the snow will go away soon!

    1. It does, doesn't it? It is so easy to just swipe on anything, really. Plus the tube looks so darn cute that I love flaunting it out of my makeup bag. ;p
I'm just glad the flowers haven't bloomed, yet. If it was after they bloomed, I would have been heartbroken!

  9. We also have several inches of snow from yesterday (well duh, I am 7-8 miles away you) but I actually don't mind as long as it's around freezing(not 10 degrees below it). this is so much nicer than the Houstonheat-humidity....

I saw your pic on p&j instagram and they make it sound like you said "Paul & Joe lipsticks are like old friends"...I havent gotten anything from them since the packaging revamp but I am excited about their summer collection (it would be same round compacts but in deeper colors).

    1. Wow, that's a lot! It didn't stick too much in the city. Thank, God. Today seems much better! :)

I didn't know about P & J posting my pic on their instagram. Isn't that nice of them.. ;( I usually have no problem if they ask first (linking my post in instagram means nothing since it's not clickable nor did they linked it to my instagram or anything), but often restaurants and beauty brand take my pictures without asking. -_-++
Anyway, I had to laugh reading their little blurb - it is obvious they did not read my post (or they were really serious about paraphrasing).

Having said all that, Paul & Joe is a perfect brand to shop from in spring and summer! I want to try their liquid lip color. :)

      They are so pretty! <3

    1. LOL. Yes, spring is coming after all. I wear all black in winter (with some color accents with jewel toned nail polishes and winter coats), but tend to wear more prints and colors in spring/summer.
This lipstick feels more balmy than the L'Oreal Balm Pop. I really like it for what it is. :)

Paul & Joe makeup is about the whole package really. The feminine packaging, good quality, and everything. I'd give the lipstick itself a B+, though.

  13. Hahah! Don't worry about all the lip reviews back to back! I absolutely loved seeing these shades! I don't have too many beautiful bright pinks like this and I love that sheer quality. How easy to wear and it suits your complexion so well! I'm dying to get a paul & joe lipstick or blush! :p

    1. Well, good, then! Cause I have more lipsticks to show you. ;D
I've only tried their blush once (I lost it with a lipstick along the other things in my makeup bag;;;;), but it was creamy and very nice. I'd recommend!

  14. Let's face it: people buy P&J purely for packaging. I would have had a ton by now if they were sold in more visible stores around here. I'm actually big on the idea of refillable makeup now so I've sort of been wanting to try more from them. Just waiting for owls or horses to appear on one of those cases, lol!

I think the pink is beautiful and you look beautiful in it. :)

    1. I wouldn't buy Paul & Joe if the products are totally crappy (I'm attracted to Anna Sui packagings, for example, but I haven't bought any in a while since I don't like the products as much. They are not crappy, though. Just to be fair).
Like I said, P & J gets an overall solid B+ from me. But you're right. Without the packaging, I doubt that I'd pay that much for them. ;D

  15. Anyone who looks as fresh and vibrant in cool pinks as you do should never eschew them! Pink Balloon is lovely; definitely a lipstick I'd love to wear. I saw the snow pic you posted on Instagram the first day of spring. I thought it was so beautiful, but I'm sorry it's still snowing there! :\

True I got a little bored for pink lippies. Most of all, I have so many and they are not all that different. Why does my mind go blank when I buy a lippy? I can't remember exactly what I have and not, and end up buying the same things all the time. LOL
Well, to fix that, I've bought some orangey shade. How about that! (I'm proud of myself and at the same time so scared that it wouldn't work on me.......)

      Weather is much better now, but still no sight of green, yet. -_-;;;;
