NARS Blush Deep Throat

9.01.2014

The ridiculous name aside, NARS Blush Deep Throat looks quite harmless and even boring. I mean, just look at it. It is a slightly shimmery peachy pink - tame and plain.
I usually much prefer cool toned pink and think there are many more interesting blush colors that NARS offers. I would have never picked it up for myself if it wasn't for the GWP deal.

I have had Deep Throat for a while and even compared it to Orgasm and Super Orgasm in my previous post, but never really paid much attention to it. I guess I subconsciously dismissed Deep Throat. It is peachy after all. On my pink-loving complexion, how flattering can it be?

I want NARS to come up with individual mini blush set, not a palette.

Anyway, where were we?
Ah, the cute peachy pink blush that everyone seems to love except for the name.

At this point of my beauty blogging life, "Deep Throat" means a totally different thing.

For those who missed my comparison post, I recycle these pictures here.

NARS Blush Deep Throat Orgasm Super Orgasm swatch comparison

I still like Orgasm better. To me, Orgasm's pink base is preferred, and its unique golden glow is something that is hard to match.
Deep Throat, on the other hand, is much easier to wear for most of us. The barely-there shimmer is flattering and just effortless. I find Deep Throat blends in seamlessly creating this "lit-from-within glow".
Many of the NARS Blushes I've tried look better once worn (well, not the poor Super Orgasm, which makes me wonder. Does anyone actually like it?), and Deep Throat is not an exception.

I am happy to see Deep Throat looks prettier on my cheeks than on my arm, but I still have to work a little harder to wear this peachy blush.
My favorite way to work warmer colors is to change the eye color. ;)

  1. I've never thought to try on Deep Throat for whatever reason. It took a while with Orgasm too but that one's thrown at us so frequently that it was impossible not to cave to it eventually. Feeling like if I cave to DT, it'll just open up the gates to collecting NARS blushes all over again. :x

    1. I guess Deep Throat is nice to have if you don't have too many peachy pink blushes. I actually don't, and I like it better because it is a mini. ;D I think you might find it a bit boring since you have an impressive peachy pink blush collection.
For me, that gate is open already. I find myself looking at the blushes while others are examining all 40 colors of Audacious. ;)

  2. Deep Throat is actually one of my favourite NARS blushes! Orgasm is beautiful when applied too. Actually, I love them both equally. The only problem is with the packaging that melts after a few years, but for these blushes, I'd happily depot. That said, after having to depot Laguna, I just depotted Orgasm - the case died. Luckily it came off easily.

    1. Oh, good to hear that the depotting was a success! I've had a couple of NARS things for more than a few years and they are still okay (knock on wood). I am neutral about NARS cases. I like that they are usually lightweight and sleek but not a big fan of finger prints that stay on, you know? ;)

  4. Ooo...this peachy color is really pretty, it's not too orange and I really appreciate how it just glows and is translucent. I thought deep throat was a more rosy shade but I think I'm mixing it up with another shade! Sin I think? Orgasm is gorgoues too, I love that pinky tone to it, rose gold from sleek is similar but more peachy than pink.

    1. If you want rosy shade, I think Dolce Vita is it. BLKR is much more intense and redder, btw. Sin is a berry with golden shimmer. I want it, too!
I've seen Rose Gold from sleek ad it looks gorgeous! Unfortunately, it is harder for me to get sleek than NARS. I guess we all have our cosmetic situations. ;D

  5. Deep Throat is my fave NARS Blush! I think it leans more pink than peach on me though. Love how peachy it looks on you!

    1. Most NARS blushes are surprises for me. I can never figure out how it would look on me but I rarely test at the counter so I have to use all my imaginations. ;D
DT was a nice surprise for me. I am glad I've decided to give it a go.

  6. My first NARS blush purchase was Deep Throat! I love how it is a peachy coral, and not too pink based as pink/red undertones tend to make me look ruddy! Orgasm is super pretty but I find that the shimmer particles in it is a little too much for daytime wear for myself :P Absolutely love NARS products though!

    1. If DT was your first, you must be very sensible! It is the kind of color you reach for without having to think too much and you get what you pay for!
It took quite a long time for me to get into NARS blushes but now I'm all about them. Still looking to get a few more. ;)

  7. I love Deep Throat, it doesn't have the pore amplifying shimmer of Orgasm. on me it's not particularly warm toned either, and it works well with either cool or warm toned lip colours. In your case I would probably have skipped the lenses and worn Deep throat as a part of a furthermore cooler look; it comes out better that way.

    1. DT seems to be a bit of chameleon since it corresponds to different colors. I think it plays with the borderline depending on what other things you wear. I will try it without the lenses next time. ;)

  8. Deep Throat has been the most worn blush this summer for me. Paired with Laguna bronzer it gave me the perfect summery glow. Orgasm I just can't seem to pull off as well. A tad too shimmery for me. I too have the mini and it's so dang cute! Hope I can replace it when it's done. :)

    1. DT is so easy to wear, right? I think my old jane blush Blushing earth sheer is similar but NARS blush is better quality anyway. I love the effect that Orgasm gives - it is like I layer two blush colors, but I totally agree it requires more thoughts and careful pairing. :)

  9. I think Deep Throat looks good on you! I would prefer Deep Throat more in comparison to Orgasm as it is less shimmery.. but sadly I am not a fan of NARS blushes :(

    1. Ah, I know you were disappointed with your palette. But NARS has been criticized about the quality inconsistency when it comes to palettes, which seems to be true because I never liked their palettes too much. Maybe give a singe one a chance when the times right (I mean sale or something...;p)

  10. It looks very pretty on you. I know you usually go for cooler toned blush but this one looks good. I haven't tried Deep Throat, only Orgasm. I much prefer the mini sizes as who has ever used up a whole pan of blush?

    1. Exactly my thought! For some reason, I am not into palettes, so I hope NARS gives us mini deals like this more often or just come out with a set already. LOL

  12. Nars Deep Throat is one of those that I've had for ages and has a permanent place in my make-up collection as it's not going anywhere but do I use it that often? Not that much. There are times I'll use it non-stop and then it gets back in storage, and will be picked up some time in the future. It's funny but it's definitely a lovely colour, and as you say, there are more exciting blushes to use I guess.

    1. Especially from the NARS blush line! And I love that how it looks so different from the pan once sheered out on the cheeks. It is like an intriguing game.
I would say DT is one of the better peachy pink out there backed up by the solid quality. For example, I like that it does not oxidize on me much and looks still pure after many hours. :)

  13. That baby is soooooo gorgeous! I'm not into the whole Orgasm/Super Orgasm as they didn't work very well on my skin tone, but Deep Throat - danggggg! That is a lovely colour! Have you tried Sin before? It's like the ultimate fall cheek colour!

    1. I've wanted Sin for a long time but opted out for Oasis which is a softer version of it. Sin is more cool-toned, though. I still think I need it as well as Mata Hari. For some reason, I like the classic colors from NARS better than new LEs. :)

  14. It's pretty on you ! I like peachy pinks.
In remue pan they look the same ! The Swatch made the difference. I love this kind of peachy pinks as mlbb lipstick.
I cannot wear cold undertone Blushes or lipsticks. They look more or less weird on my warm complexion.
You can use warm pink lipsticks and warm brown eyeshadows to make this blush to look natural.

I usually try to balance out the tone by adding cool-toned colors when I wear peachy blush, but I will experimenting with warmer colors with this particular blush as well.

  15. Ugh, these names. How are we supposed to tell the average person what blush we are wearing? Or even discuss it without getting weird looks? >:/

It seems like the newer blushes have been formulated without parabens, but the old ones are still the same as they were. Which means Deep Throat is out for me. I wonder if I have something similar? I don't actually have too many peachy pinks!

    1. LOL. I think we should pretend that we are average people and tell them we don't remember the names of the blushes, because average people don't really remember. ;D

I'm sorry to hear about the paraben situation with NARS blushes. If they reformulated the entire lipgloss line, they can do it with their blushes, too, right?
I am planning on getting another color from the classics so I will make sure to look at the box and confirm. My Orgasm blush feels certainly different from the old ones I tried before, so there might be some hope.
