Review - Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover & Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover

After my less than glowing review on Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Makeup Remover, I was sent two other eye makeup removers from Boots. I appreciate the opportunity to take another look at their eye makeup removers because I doubt that I would have otherwise. I might have just concluded that Boots was a brand for my favorite toner and exfoliator, but not for eye makeup removers. Luckily, that opinion of mine is quite different now.

No7 Beautiful Skin Oil Free Makeup Remover is, well, the oil free version available from Boots.
Except that the product description says "it removes even waterproof mascaras" (because it does not), there is nothing wrong with this eye makeup remover.
I think Boots should re-lable this product asap, so the customers won't be misled (and end up ranting about it).
For an oil-free eye makeup remover designed for sensitive eyes and skin, it is a fine product. It removes regular mascaras with no irritation. It feels cool and soothing on contact.
In fact, this remover feels a lot like micellar water. You know how micellar water kind of removes stubborn eye makeup but not entirely? It is just like that and it does work on foundation removal. (Yes, I have tried it. No issues.)

On the other hand, Boots Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover is a clear winner.
I am thoroughly impressed by this bi-phased remover to see it removes my waterproof mascara quickly and gently. This actually came with a recommendation note from Boots team, and now I understand why.
This taller and slender bottle is better to hold, and it does not have the "mixing" problem like the No7. I also like that All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover does not contain artificial colorants and it is even cheaper than No7 removers.
I would highly recommend this if you're looking for an affordable yet effective eye makeup remover.

  1. I haven't tried any of the Boots eye makeup remover. What a disappointment that it doesn't do what it claims to do. The Botanics one sounds like a much more promising product. I am almost out of my Neutrogena oil free eye makeup remover and I will keep that in mind when I go shopping next.

    1. They should just get rid of the "remove wp mascara" part. It is almost like they tried to save on the labels or something. LOL
The Botanics one is really nice and affordable. Hope you like it, too. :)

  2. Totally sounds like I need to try the boots botanics one! I have totally avoided trying any micellar waters because I ALWAYS wear super waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Even some oil cleansers won't take off my mascara! So bi-facial it is!

    1. Bi-facil is the best but expensive. Luckily we have many more affordable ones to substitute.
I'm not big on micellar water since my sunscreen is wp as well. Plus the water in NYC is quite soft so I don't really feel that I need it, you know? ;)

  3. The only Boots product I've tried are a N°7 serum (not too bad) and the micellar water which just didn't cut it. Too bad we don't have the regular Boots offerings in my area because I would try that bi-phase eye makeup remover for sure.

    1. I've tried the serum as well but I wasn't blown away or anything. On the other hand, I really like their toners and exfoliators. I just repurchased the No7 micro-dermabrasion exfoliator which is the best I've used so far. :)

  4. I haven't tried anything from Boots, actually. I'm pretty satisfied with my makeup removers (well, I guess I only use Neutrogena for eyes and then some kind of oil for removing the rest of my face), so I never think to explore.

    1. If you're happy with what you're using, of course!
For some reason, I was never entirely satisfied with the Neutrogena one so I ended up trying other things. I'm just really glad now we have many affordable good ones. :)

  5. I'll have to check if we have the bi-phase remover here! I've been using the Clarins one, and it's too expensive.

    1. Ah, the Clarins one is nice, too!
I need something I can use liberally without having to think about the price. The Boots bonatics one is one of them! :)

  6. I haven't tried any make up remover from Boots because we don't have Boots here in Germany .. It is nice to find a good make up remover with affordable price tag as we use it daily..
I always use a make up remover from Balea, a local drugstore brand from Germany ^^

    1. Glad to hear you have an affordable option with easy access!
Boots is expanding quite a bit lately. They have so many things, which is a bit confusing for me..but I am happy I have found some that work really well for me. :)

  7. We have some No.7 stuff here but not all Boots products. I've tried some of their skin care and thought they were all right. I look at them when there are sales but don't know too much about them, so this was a nice review to read. :)

    1. Honestly, their lineup is extensive that is even confusing for me! I've used their famous serum but didn't think it was life changing or anything. Their basics are pretty good, though! :)

  8. I haven't tried any makeup remover from boots, just because it's not available here in Australia and not sure whether I can get it online or not but the Boots Botanic looks promising in my eyes and I really like the packaging :D

    1. Boots products are relatively easy to locate here, but if that is not the case, I would go for an option which is easier to access.
I'm quite happy that I've found another option for eye makeup remover, though. :)

  9. What about waterproof eyeliners? Does it remove easily with Boots Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover? I wear Japanese liners and they cling on to my lids for hours on end - they usually require the use of 2 removers =[

    1. Oh, I'm not sure if it works really fast on Japanese liners since I have very little experience with them. It does work effectively on a regular wp liner that I wear on my lower lash lines, though. :)

  10. haven't tried boots removers before but i'm a fan of bi-phase or oil based removers for my make up. then i double cleanse afterwards. i dont enjoy using micellar waters cause i just don't trust them to take off everything. esp since i tend to use waterproof makeup.

    1. I am the same way! Many people seem to misunderstand micellar water! If water in your area is decent, just use water and foaming cleanser after removing makeup, I'd say! :)

  11. I need to try the boots eye makeup remover. I've seen it many times and was curious if the bi-phase would actually work :)

    1. I'm happy to report to you that the bi-phase one works nicely, and the botanics one stands out of the bunch, imho. :)

  12. Ooo good to here that the eye makeup remover from Boots Botanics is good! I'm a fan of that range so I may try it when I run out of my current one :)

    1. I think the whole range - Botanics is quite good. I'm even interested in trying their cleanser as well. :)
