Winter just wouldn't quit. Today we have cold rain and howling wind, and the temperature is below 50 again - those poor cherry blossoms and magnolias are having it rough this year!
I purchased Paul & Joe Eye Color Trio Cherry Blossom a while ago anticipating the new season. This little trio with neutral brown and a hint of pink looked quite attractive and even unique to me. And you know I am a sucker for the adorable packaging that Paul & Joe offers. ;)

Clinique Cheek Pop is a darling blush if you ask me.
There are many things to love about this little one. The adorable look, simple and sturdy packaging, 4 of very wearable shades, good color payoffs and lasting power, and even the price that is just right.
True I don't think the colors are all that unique, although they pretty much cover the whole spectrum. I was still inclined to pick one up mostly attracted by the "powderless powder" finish it supposedly gives.

It was rather heartbreaking to find out the color of the year 2014 was not meant to be on my lids, but did I despair? I think not.
I was glad to see that Chanel brought out a spring collection consisting of muted plum and neutrals this year, which, by the way, saved us from drowning in the sea of pastels. However, I thought the colors from the Quadrille quadra was too warm for me although this would be a satisfying neutral quad to many.
NARS Duo Eyeshadow Violetta was the one I picked up as I realized I was looking for more of "hazy violet" colors.

I could not resist these jelly shades from L'Oreal when I found them at a local discount store. Although they are from last year's, they look perfectly spring-y to me even including a sheer "Radiant Orchid" shade.
I had put them aside for a while due to this endless winter, but I finally felt like wearing something other than deep saturated vamp color on my tips. I tried this simple accent jelly mani using Berry Nice (607) and Lilac Cooler (606).

I wear waterproof mascara and sunscreen almost daily.
For a long time, I had just relied on good cleansing oil to remove them. I think liked the idea of taking care of everything by using one product. Maybe I was trying to be frugal, too.
Then one day, I saw the melted black mascara running on my face and realized it wasn't as effective as I thought because it also seemed I was neglecting other parts of my face while concentrating on the eye area. I decided that it was time for me to use a separate remover again.
When I first started wearing makeup, there weren't many options for waterproof eye makeup remover. The original Lancôme Bi-Facil was the exclusive one that was known to do a proper job, so my understanding back then was that I must shell out monthly for a bottle no matter what.
If you can afford it, go for Bi-Facil by all means. I still believe it is one of the very best.
Problem with a more expensive eye makeup remover is that you could easily end up hoarding without realizing it. The remover itself might be great, but skimping on it means possible irritation caused by tugging and pulling with insufficiently moistened pads.
Luckily we have more options now including the affordable drugstore products.
I happened to have found a few good ones that made my wallet much happier (and me, cause that meant more money for lippies), and I wanted to share them with you.

I had to experience Lancôme Lip Lover since it has been so well received in the beauty blogosphere.
It is refreshing to see this veteran brand with a bit of mumsy feel keeps bringing out new and fresh items like this, yet they are still modestly priced.
In my humble opinion, Lancôme Lip Lover is like an underdog who hit a home run, and one of the few that are actually worth your attention out of all the spring makeup came out this year.
The color I chose is also called "Lip Lover (337)", and it is a "Bright Berry Pink".

Last time when I bought a L'Oreal eyeshadow in pressed powder form, it was kinda terrible.
It was a long time ago and I had been impressed with their Infallible range plus I had this $2 off coupon on any L'Oreal item, so I decided to try one again.
Unfortunately, it turned out the quality was just as I remembered.
Nowadays drugstore eyeshadows are so much better quality, but this isn't.
I usually don't blog about things that I am not too crazy about unless I feel it is my beauty-bloggerly duty to let the world know (as if). I don't feel that dutiful about this, either.
But this one is weird, I tell you. Really weird.

So I bought NARS Orgasm after years of shunning it off.
I do have more than a few shimmery peach pink blushes that are known to be good (or even better) alternatives of the famous O', but I don't know if I was ever seriously interested in finding out which one really rules.
My blush color preference leans towards cool pink and mauve, and I still don't think peach pink is the most flattering blush color on me. Hence the lukewarm attitude toward the cult favorite cause it would be still a peach pink blush on me.
For some, this thirty something dollars spent on a blush that has been already blogged about million times would be a vain investment. Who's interested in hearing anyone saying anything about NARS Orgasm anymore?
Yet, here you are reading this long introduction just because I suddenly wanted one and had to write about it, and I really appreciate that.

I have a good habit of discarding a mascara every 3 months.
I used to put a date on the tube using a sharpie but now just set a reminder on my phone.
While it is a nice hygienic practice, I don't think I could do the same so easily with higher-end ones. Which is why I usually stick with drugstore mascaras.
I think L'Oreal makes nice mascaras, and The classic Voluminous waterproof is my all time favorite. I always stock up on them whenever I spot a good sale.
This doesn't stop me from trying new ones, of course. Who can resist those new mascara ads with CGI and falsies?
I was super excited when L'Oreal brought out the new Voluminous Butterfly Lash Out Mascara but waited patiently until the waterproof version was available.
