Review - Radical Skincare Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads

I usually prefer old school ingredients like AHA and BHA in my skincare as they have been used for so many years and proven to be effective time after time.
(Salicylic acid (a common BHA) is derived from willow bark and has been used since the 5th century BC, for example.)

Luckily I am not new to exfoliating pads like Radical Skincare Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads, so I was quite glad to receive them for reviews as I figured I would be comparing them to the similar ones I tried before and provide a more informed review.

Effective exfoliation is one of the few things I actually believe in skincare to make visible difference.
As I am getting older and also because of my skin type (normal/combination with occasional dry patches and congestions), I constantly look for simple yet serious products that would exfoliate my skin effectively.

Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads from Radical Skincare are pre-moistend with toner with exfoliating ingredients like AHA and BHA plus skin soothing properties.

60 pads come in a big sturdy tub with clean silver accents.

I took a picture of English portion of the product descriptions and the technology behind it, but you can get more information here, or even watch this video.

Here is the ingredient list.
Radical Skincare Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads are free of Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates.
I was a little concerned about the ingredients came from citrus fruits, but I did not experience any adverse effects.

To me, Radical Skincare Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads are a good example of "old school ingredients done right", and rather in a convenient modern way.
The pads perform beautifully doing the job as they claim to do. (Some of you now know that this is always the main check point for my review, right?)
It contains Glycolic Acid which is probably the strongest and most effective form of AHA, so there is this tingly sensation upon application. Some might find it annoying but this is what it is to work the magic. Soon the skin feels calmer and toned, perfectly prepped for the next step.

To make comparisons to the products that I've used before, Radical Skincare Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads are far less irritating than the Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peels, and not as sticky as The SkinRise Bionic Tonic from Exuviance. Radical Pads are better value for money as well.

I do wish the pads were a little thicker and bigger, which would make them perfect.
However, I couldn't be happier to see the immediate results like baby-butt-smooth cheeks of mine (they are usually plagued with dry patches)!
Although I am not new to exfoliating toner and pads, it is hard not to appreciate the instantly smoother face and better absorption of the moisturizer followed.

This is gross but I'm going to show it to you anyway.
You see the yellowish residue on the pad?
That's the dead skin cells and whatever was left even after cleansing!

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to accelerate the skin cell turnover and prevent breakouts.
The pads supposedly have anti-aging effects on its own, but even if not, whatever the following products would work better since it leaves the skin more receptible. The skin is breathing better as well resulting less breakouts.

It is recommended to be used nightly, but I personally think it is okay to skip a day or two since the pads are very effective, and this would be the best way of starting this regimen to avoid unnecessary irritations if you are new to the active ingredients.

Radical Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads are available at Sephora as well as on their website.

    1. The tub is actually huge! LOL. I still want bigger and thicker pads, but one pad work perfectly well for the entire face and neck. They're especially nice for those concerns you have. :)

  2. Oooh! I'll have to look for these! I like old school AHAs and BHAs as well! I've been back to using glycolics myself, so this is perfect.

I'm still on Team Mandelic Acid. It is irritating my face, but I can see improvement with tone and clarity so I'm okay with a little redness.

    1. Lucky you! I can't really tolerate Mandelic Acid for some reason. I have used MaMa lotion but it was a disaster for me. These pads are effective yet not as irritating, so I love them! :)

  5. Sometimes I think these "old-school" products are still the best! If only if there has been more time to give them tests and such...

Weirdly enough, peptides and some of the new natural ingredients don't work for me at all. ;-/

  6. I'm actually a little bit scared to use exfoliating pads! They just burn my skin so bad but reading your reviews just might change my mind on it! Just a slight tingly feeling? Super smooth skin? Sounds like a must-try!

    1. I'm used to the Gycolic Acid feeling, which is not pleasant..but this works! Other than the sensation, it's pretty much irritation free..but you need to be more diligent with sunscreen as well! :)

  10. Hey Lena, this looks cool! I might have tried something like that in the past, but it's been years since I had any exfoliating pads! For the moment, I am sticking to Omorovicza Copper Peel. It is by far the best chemical peel I have tried!

Radical Pads are very simple and I love that I can incorporate these into my current regimen so easily! :)

  11. oh wow this looks and sounds shopisticated! I also think it is quite practical and easy for traveling. I have never heard of the brand to be honest , I stick to my HadaLabo AHA BHA skin care range every time I think my skin needs exfoliating. I can't use HadaLabo on daily basis as it irritates my skin on regular basis, but once in awhile, it works wonder :)

    1. HadaLabo line is great as well, I remember!
I also agree using these acid based products periodically is a very good idea.
Sometimes nothing beats the old school ingredients like AHA and BHA! :)

  12. great review! I haven't tried any exfoliating pads and these sound amazing. I am kind of weird in a way that I like seeing what is being cleansed off the face. So I'm glad you showed us the pad after use.

LOL I know exactly what you mean. It's gross but satisfying, right?
It is shocking, though...since I thought I was pretty thorough with my cleansing! ;p

  13. I don't usually exfoliate as much during the winter but I agree with you that effective exfoliation makes a visible difference on your skin. I will have to look into these pads since you had a positive experience with them. Thanks for review Lena!

These are the best out of the three different products of the kind I have tried so far. :)

  14. Eeek, I have to test out some exfoliating pads as well that I've been ignoring for months now. :x

I'm not too picky about ingredients so long as they work, and I've been friendlier to fruit acids and AHAs in the past. As for the yellowy remains, it gives me an odd feeling of satisfaction, lol.

    1. From the same brand? I'd love to hear about your opinions on them. I guess AHA/BHA solution would be more economical, but these are just easier to use more on a regular basis.
And I totally get the odd satisfaction. ;D

This brand seems to be more popular in UK and it is getting attentions here in the U.S. as well. This was my first time trying their product as well. ;)
