FOTD - Red, The One Color Drama

I had a busy summer which passed by rather quickly.
It was a short summer since I did not get to wear all my summer dresses.
(I am not entirely sure if the summer was short or I have too many dresses, but I think the former, yeah. ;))

While I feel a little sad about the season gone, the different smell in the air puts me in the mood for different colors and looks.
I don't know why I feel that I need to find a reason to wear reds. Probably because red is not the best color on me..

Well, let's just say I wanted to wear a red lipstick for some reason. A matte one, too.

Products used for this look
(clockwise)
Paul & Joe Light Creme Foundation Alabaster
Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick Really Red
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Continuous Cocoa
L'Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner Black
tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush Natural Beauty
L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara waterproof

*Base*
I was going for a Snow White kinda look (just a little bit), so I used the lightest foundation color I own.
Paul & Joe Light Creme Foundation Alabaster is a very pale shade that looks lighter than my complexion but it blends in quite well and evens out the skin tone nicely.
It is a better match now since I have been using a brightening skincare regimen (Kose Sekkisei - I will review this soon) lately.
I didn't set it with powder for a slightly dewy yet sheer finish.

*Eyes*
Since the lip color is the main star of this look, I only wanted to define the eyes using muted colors.
I simply lined my folds and lower lash lines with L'Oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner and blended with L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Continuous Cocoa, which I also used to fill in my brows.
For the lashes, I used my long time favorite Voluminous waterproof mascara.
The carbon black tends to smudge more than the regular waterproof but the deep black color is unparalleled.
I am also wearing NEO Monet Brown lenses.
They are barely noticeable but lighten up my very dark brown eyes a little bit, so the whole look is still soft despite the strong lip color.

*Cheeks*
tarte Natural Beauty may look scary from the pan, but it is very sheer and easy to wear.
This color is just perfect to create those naturally flushed cheeks.

*Lips*
If you like MAC Ruby Woo or Russian Red, do check out the Revlon Matte reds from the Super Lustrous range.
They have excellent pigmentations and apply and stay smooth for long hours.
(Please visit HERE for better comparison swatches.)
Really Red translates into a warmer red on me, but I can still pull this due to the matte finish.

*Overall Look*

Hope you enjoyed this.
To me, it is amazing how a red lipstick brings a beautiful drama to a mundane daily look.
Interesting that each red lippie requires different pairings to make it look right, I guess I am still experimenting and learning about them. :)
