Lenallure Featured On A Special Webzine Celebrating Nolcha Fashion Week

So I am seriously falling behind my blogging and reading (yet again!).
My work schedule has been so hectic and I have been sick as well, it is still very difficult to find time to photographing and gathering my thoughts lately.
Thank God, I feel lucky that I still have something to share with you guys. :)

Lenallure has been recently featured in a special E-zine cellebrating Nolcha Fashion Week, WBM/AUTR.
I have come to work together with WhyBlueMatters which is a hybrid creation agency & publication.
I came to work with them through Instagram.

Lenallure featured on WBM/AUTR
(p58-59)

As a beauty blogger, I had an opportunity to talk about my points of view on "Beauty", which was absolutely amazing experience.
I am much humbled by all this since I know nothing about fashion, and even my so-called opinions are so simple that anyone could easily talk about.

Here is my article that I want to share with you here on Lenallure as well.
(Of course, I encourage you to go HERE and read the whole magazine.)

1. Lena, who is she?
Musician, New Yorker, Beauty blogger, Lover and Procrastinator in life
I am a classically trained singer who lives in New York. I play the piano and indulge the idea of making music in different genres like jazz.
I have been running a small beauty blog called Lenallure for more than a year now.

2. What's the best thing about being a beauty blogger?
I get to talk freely about the things I feel passionate about on my blog which is pretty exciting already.
However, I never imagined I would be able to connect with so many wonderful people with same interests by doing so.
And that connections vine on even further. Having this interview with WBM is the very example.

3. Have you ever been to NY Fashion Week?
Yes. Just once.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the Michael Kors event at the Lincoln Center in last fall.

4. Name one beauty product that you cannot live without.
I guess you are expecting me to name a lipstick or a blush?
But if I really have to pick just one, it would be a nice stable (and cosmetically elegant) Sunscreen.
There are tons of products that claim to make you beautiful and younger, but a good sunscreen is about the only thing you can trust at this point (according to FDA).

5. When you think of beauty what's the first thing that comes to mind?
Being yourself.
Being the most beautiful you.

6. So many people are trying to fit in, what advice would give to the individual who want to stand out?
Hmmm this is a tricky question.
I believe this only can be achieved by understanding ourselves.
It does not necessarily mean we have to wear eye-catching makeup or flashy clothes.
I myself dress in mono tones all the time maybe because I am a boring dresser or maybe because it brings out my light neutral complexion more and I feel confident and beautiful in them. This is of course, something I've come to realize after having tried other things and observed myself.
Someone tells you shouldn't wear blue eyeshadows to work? You absolutely can if you know how to pick a right shade that complements your eyes.
Observe and understand yourself then you will be able to find a beauty style that makes you stand out.

7. How do you complement your great look with fashion and accessories?
As much as I like girly feminine stuff, I am into simple things in fashion and accessories.
I guess I go by "Less is more", as the great Coco Chanel said.
I rarely wear necklace and earrings together.
If I am wearing all black, I try to accent the whole look with a colorful scarf or a purse.
Makeup plays a very important role here as well. You will likely find me wearing a red lipstick with a taupe pull-over and my hair pulled back tight.
Well-polished nails work like the jewels. Sometimes passionate purple or saturated red is the only color you'd see in my outfit.

Thanks very much for sharing this with me.
I will be back soon with more swatches and look post!

Happy weekend, everyone! :)

  8. Congratulations! I caught one of your tweets and read it at work. :) Great advice about just doing what you like/feel comfortable with. No need for everyone to chase after the newest trends just because. You have a unique voice and I love that. :)

Congrats on being featured! I didn't know you're a musician/jazz singer. I can imagine you're playing the piano and I am sure you'll look good when playing the music :)

  11. awww thanks so much!! :)
i am not much of a jazz singer as of now but exploring more to do so.
classical would be always my biggest love, though.

  17. Hurray! This is the first time I got to read it - I couldn't get the links to work on my phone. I enjoyed it! I agree with you that wearing earrings + necklaces can get overwhelming, so I usually only have earrings on (though I'm trying to learn how to pair them together in an elegant, natural way!). And I love your comment about nail color being like jewels. So true! You're so lovely, Lena :)

i am glad you could read this. seems the link or the interactive e-zine isn't working on mobile sometimes.
i myself usually wear just earrings only like you! i think they enhance the facial features and the makeup looks. :D
