Review, FOTD - Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup

The original Revlon ColorStay liquid foundation is one of my favorites, so naturally I was intrigued by the latest whipped version that supposedly provides more coverage.

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup in Buff

According to Revlon..

Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin. And, the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All day flexible wear without flaking, caking or feeling heavy.

My experience

- Easy application
- Blends in well and evens out the skin tone effortlessly.
- A little goes a long way. I can achieve light to full coverage very easily depends on how much I use it.
- Very long lasting for sure if not for 24 hours.
- Covers pores nicely and gives a flawless finish
- Doesn't feel masky or too heavy
- I did not break out from using this foundation. (I usually have no problem with silicone based products, though.)

Basically, I love everything about this foundation (even the jar) except for one thing.
The color match is not perfect for me!
Buff in ColorStay range is the best bet but it still  is a little darker with ashy undertone. :-/

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Shell

after blended out on my arm

I wish I could get the Vanilla shade from their PhotoReady range in this formula since it is almost a perfect match for my current complexion. (Shell works for me during the warmer months.)

This could totally work as an everyday foundation since I can control the coverage easily, but most importantly, it is lovely to have a drugstore full coverage foundation that performs!

This FOTD was taken a couple of days ago late in the afternoon.
It was a busy day and I also had a haircut.
You know what can happen after a trip to a salon. A makeup meltdown due to the wash and blowout!
That did not happen with this foundation, I am happy to report to you.
It photographs quite nicely as well although you can probably see in the picture that my face looks a bit darker than my neck.

I also wore this foundation for this look.

Overall, I am very happy with this foundation and would repurchase if I run out.

  1. I love the Revlon ColorStay whipped makeup! The texture is beautiful and glides on so effortlessly and does stay on! I'm lucky to have a colour that matches me though which makes the foundation definitely one of my favourites! Thanks for sharing :)

  2. good for you!
i just got bourjois healthy mix foundation from an UK site and the color match is perfect. i am super excited!

as for MAC, i still think they are overrated. i'd buy drugstore products or pay a little more and get higher-end products. :)

  3. I agree MAC is overrated. When I first started makeup, everyone said it's the best brand and I just agreed since I didn't know better. Now that I know better, I hardly buy any MAC products... hehe~ If I do buy MAC, it's usually for the packaging. :X

  4. I bought this and yes i do love the formula but i hate the color selection..my shade doesnt exsits so i ended up getting one shade darker cuz if i got one lighter it would be horrible..i have to only use a little and it works pretty good. i dont like how at the end of the day it gets oily ;/

  5. i love how well it blends in with my skin tone. but then, yes, it is not a perfect color match, which is the shame... ;-/
i think the right color is as important as the application and coverage.

  6. I use to like MAC, but not anymore... hehe~ I like to get tested often since MAC shades are the versatile conversation. :/ Hrmmm, you're too light for my skin. I got lucky when I went to CVS, there was one foundation open. I tested it and it was the perfect match! :)

  7. i've been never matched in MAC (i dislike MAC *ducks* ;p) but i would be between NC15 and NC20 which is what my friend told me. ;)
the vanilla shade from the photoready line is quite perfect for me. :)

  8. My friend was in NYC last summer and I almost asked her to get this for me. Now that I didnt, I regret it ://
I like the revlon colorstay foundation, but not love it that's why I was hesitant whether to buy this version or not..

  9. Ok Lena! You're going to break my beauty budget with all of this fabulousness! HAHAHAHA I was worried about coverage, because mousse foundation are usually very light. So I've always shy'd away! Loving this doll.

  10. Thanks for the heads-up, Lena! I haven't tried any cream foundation, because my skin is combination but it could oil up HORRIBLY if the foundation is too moisturizing. Glad to hear this one holds up so well though! That's for sure a bonus point :)

  11. Heard so much great reviews about this one. Every time I go to the drugstore, I checked it out but just wish there are testers. Really hard to see the real color in the glass jar. I will probably need one or two shades darker than buff.

  12. Glad to know you liked it. I actually found this foundation so-so. But it's good for the price.

  15. I have heard such mixed reviews about this! I think the original colorstay is one of the best foundations I have ever tried so maybe I should give this one a go... We'll see!

  16. WOW! I can't believe the coverage is perfect - for a drugstore foundation! Revlon is really getting competitive, I like it! I've been liking more and more of their new products recently :) Will definitely have to grab this one and check it out for myself.

  17. I keep hearing great things about this foundation. Now I want one... lol~ What's your MAC shade? I want to base what I should get. I'm so easily convinced to get beauty stuff *sigh*.

  18. love the sound of a silky touch coming from foundation! thanks for the review :) I need to find cheap, drugstore brand alternatives to foundation as it simply gets used up way too fast. might check this out!

  19. if you don't react to silicone based products, this is a good option. it simply takes care of many thing.
i find revlon foundation is better than l'oreal or maybelline in general. maybe it just works better for me. almay has good foundation lineup as well since they are the same company. :)

  20. i love that i can control the coverage so easily, but this foundation definitely can give you that full made up face.
if you can find a good shade match, it is a great foundation in my humble opinion. ;)

  21. i love original colorstay, too!
this feels quite different but it is the same in terms of staying powder and the color range.
hope it works for you, too. ;)

  22. thank you, Janet!
i think that is the part i enjoy the most. i thought it would be just a full coverage heavier kind. i am pleasantly surprised. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. thank you. ;)
the color selection part is tricky when choosing from a drugstore line.
i am really impressed with the staying power of this foundation. of course, i had to blott a couple times but it remained quite fresh throughout the day.
hope the rich ginger shade works for you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. yes. i am quite happy about it. ;)
what did you not like about this? i am curious.

    ReplyDelete
  25. yeah. i wish the same thing!
tricky part is that even the buff color looks different in each formulation. crazy, right? ;p
i heard nude and sand beige work for many people. :)

  26. this is not a hydrating type although it doesn't dry out my skin. ;)
the silicone works great for oil absorbing. it is a great option if you don't react to it.
the staying power is the real forte of this foundation for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  27. hahaha really?
with this, it is very easy to control the coverage.
i love that it doesn't look heavy or cakey even when i go for more coverage.
do let me know how you like it if you decide to try it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. it does feel different from the original liquid due to the different formulation, but i am not sure they have the same color range and the same softlex in them.

    thank you for your compliment.
dark smoky eyes with light lips look is the usual i go for when i visit salon. the salon mirror can make you so blah sometimes, you know? ;p

  29. thanks Julie! :)
if you could stop wearing foundation because if makes you feel greasy, that means you have great skin, though. envy you! ;p

    ReplyDelete
  30. you look fab as usuall, I hate foundations where it makes you feel greasey, ahh thats why I stopped wearing them all together haha, but this sounds promising!

  31. you're welcome :D i hope so too!i have added it to my drugstore.comwishlist for my next acne products order (lol i order my face products
online) once i run out of my acne masks i have an excuse to buy it yay! hehe i looked up on Youtube and some blogs it seems that through the swatches, rich ginger might work for me :D

  32. hi
will ivory in whipped suit you? shell in photoready looks abit too dull as i am yellow tone. i am thinking of buying ivory.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think it would although Ivory in Whipped Creme has pink undertone. It looks less pink than Ivory in Colorstay, for example. Photoready in vanilla actually suits me best for my current skin tone. HTHS! :)
