Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf
I usually study notes of the perfume and give it a few full-day tests before I actually buy a bottle.
However, this was one of my rare "unsniffed" purchases and I don't regret it. :)
Who wasn't? (Raise your hand.) ;p
All I knew was that Flowerbomb is a much more wearable version of Thierry Mugler Angel.
I do have a small bottle of Angel, and that small blue star shaped beauty often finds herself just lying pretty in the perfume cabinet and not being reached often because her timid owner always gets scared by her. Just one spritz is all it takes and there is nothing she could do about it!
(Let's be fair to Angel. She does give me a long-lasting bliss once I endure through the first hour and this is still the number one boy-magnet!)
Flowerbomb opens up with very sweet candy-like notes with a little bit of citrus and quickly dries down to creamy amber and clean patchouli.
I honestly don't detect much floral despite of the name. I suspect the floral notes in this just act as bridging elements cause floral notes usually stand out on me.
After I concluded I really enjoy this and this beauty loves me back, then I learned the notes. :)
No wonder I love this. There is not a single note I don't like!
Top Notes - Bergamot, Tea
Middle Notes - Jasmine, Freesia, Orchid
Base Notes - Centiflora Rose, Patchouli
In my opinion, this is a sexy and very well executed classic that can be universally appealing.
I mean I don't really like sweet candy-like scents that still seem to dominate the mass market, but I do like this.
Even after 8 years of the launch, the price is still steep (and that says something, right?), but give it a try if you are looking for a grown-up sweet scent that is alluring but totally sophisticated. :)
The bottle is so pretty too! Thanks for this review.. I have been thinking about trying a new perfume!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, it sounds like I've got to sniff this once! I do like sweet scents but it's so easy to make them so wrong! Thanks for sharing Lena!
ReplyDeleteI love this perfume! My manager wears it all the time and I always find myself sniffing when I walk into her office lol
ReplyDeleteHey! :)
ReplyDeleteI have awarded you with the Versatile Blogger Award.

Kelly xx.
This fragrance is amazing !! It's my favorite ^^ Xoxo
ReplyDeleteA colleague at work counts this as her favourite perfume and I can see why. It's really lovely and feminine but has a touch of sophistication about it as well. It's just so darn expensive! :(
ReplyDeleteit's been 8 years since its launch already? wow it doesn't seem that long! your description and all the notes sound so amazing. haha I personally love sweet and candy-like scents, almost to an artificial point- so maybe I'll check it out! :D thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to sniff this, I simply adore the packaging (and most of the time, that's half the reason why I buy a perfume lol). I didn't realise its been out for so long either, is much be a classic!
ReplyDeleteyou described fragrance really well! My mom is a loyal fan of Angel and I like the smell on her. But I've never been brave enough to spritz Angel on me! lol.
ReplyDeletethis fragrance from Viktor and Rolf has a really nice design. But no, I don't need new fragrance! ( talking to myself )lol
I love sweet scents - I'm not really a floral person. I'm surprised that you say it smells sweet, since most of the notes listed are typically floral smelling. I'll have to check this out. Thanks Lena!
ReplyDeletethe packaging looks awesome!! I'm not a floral person but hmmmm
ReplyDeletei had no idea what these notes you were talking about..i learn so many things from this blog of yours..this seems like a lovely perfume..and i love that ad..
ReplyDeleteFlowerbomb reminds me of a lot of "amber" scents from Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret, which confuses me, as it's not really an amber scent. I don't get floral from this, either - it's a bit too spicy for me, though!
ReplyDeleteooooh I need to look for this and smell it. I've been looking for a new replacement scent for a while now, and I need all the help I can get!
ReplyDeleteI love Flowerbomb, its the best smell ever. It worth the money.
ReplyDeleteYou've been officially tagged by me! Look here to get more information and i would be so happy if you contribute with a few thoughts and play along~ Looking forward :3 http://fashionparade-fanny.blogspot.com/2012/04/tagging-game-japan.html
ReplyDeletethanks for tagging me, Fanny! :)
ReplyDeletehi! :)
ReplyDeletethanks for dropping by and adding me to you reading list.
i'd have to agree with you. it is worth it! :)
i am currently searching for a real nice spring fragrance myself.
ReplyDeletethis one would work all season except for some extremely hot days. do give it a try! :)
i prefer woody scents as base but amber and iris are my other favorites.
ReplyDeleteyou're right. i don't get much floral in this.
i don't get much spice from this on the other hand. i guess fragrance and body chemistry is such an interesting subject! :)
aww thanks, Debi! i feel happy to read your comment!
ReplyDeletei am much better now but at some point i was really obsessed with fragrance and body products..lol
isn't it pretty?
ReplyDeletei heard someone was stopped by a police while holding this one because of the bottle shape. not sure if it is a true story but certainly plausible. lolz
floral isn't very prominent in this. i think you should at least try this. :)
i agree with you!
ReplyDeletei was imagining some big white floral which is my other favorite, but this is a very clean sweet scent. sweet but not too sweet to be a gourmant. interesting!
thanks, Pam! and thanks for reading it!
ReplyDeletefragrance reviews tend to be text-heavy and also very subjective.
btw, i don't know how many of us need more fragrance, really. i have a cabinet full of them, but i still want more! :D
lolz! you're absolutely right!
ReplyDeletei must admit that i keep a couple of bottles because they look so pretty although i am not so crazy about the scents themselves! ;p
i know. and it is amazing the price hasn't been marked down after all these years!
ReplyDeletei think you'd really like this!
i feel this is very sweet but clean smell. :)
i think you're right about this fragrance. i really like that it is not just sweet but has sophisticated twist to it.
ReplyDeletethey recently introduced hair mist that i am interested in. it is more affordable, too. :)
oooh we like the same scent! cool! :D
ReplyDeletethanks for the award, Kelly! :)
ReplyDeletelolz that is cute! :)
ReplyDeletei actually was a bit bothered at certain point because it was so popular and you'd smell this everywhere. haha
it might as well be this scent rather than something else, though. haha
yes! i think you'd love this, Sunny :)
ReplyDeletethis is a sweet scent done right!
my pleasure,Eugenia!
ReplyDeletei am here to enable. heheh
i think this would be a nice addition to your collection if you like sweet clean scent!
I love Flowerbomb, but I find it's a bit too sweet for me the older I get. Have you tried Spicebomb, the male version? It's totally wearable for women too, I think.
ReplyDeletehi Michaela!
ReplyDeletethanks for the recommendation.
i haven't tried Spicebomb but i would love to sniff some of that. :)
i think i understand what you mean by "too sweet". for example, i can' really wear Pink sugar but love love Blue sugar on me. lolz
This is my favourite perfume, I've been using this for years now - absolutely love it!
ReplyDeletei was wearing this just yesterday.
ReplyDeleteit is quite perfect for any occasion. ;)
Agreed, the smell can come off strong at first but after a while it's just perfect.
