Review - Shiseido Fitit Perfect Whip & Perfect Oil

First of all, I would like to thank all of you who have entered my first giveaway.
It's been lots of fun making new friends and finding more of fabulous blogs while this giveaway was going on.
Since I did not adapt a rafflecopter for entries, it is going to take some time for me to calculate exact number of them. I am planning to announce the winner by next Saturday. The winner will be selected by a random number generator. :)

Also, I appreciate all of your warm feedbacks and suggestions.
I am planning to include more skincare, OOTD posts in the future, so stay tuned! :D

Today, I wanted to share my favorite cleansing products with you.

Shisheido Fitit Perfect Whip & Perfect Oil
I have been using this combo for years. :-)

Some of you might think I am more focused on makeup stuff, but au contraire, I am a skincare junky or at least I used to be.. ;)
I came to realise (after spending thousands dollars on high-end skincare) that finding right products and simplifying the routine is more important.
Of course, it has to be backed up by good diets and exercise not too mention getting enough shut-eyes.
However, main keys in skincare regimen really come down to a few things and these elements should be the  RIGHT kinds for YOU.

Cleansing/Exfoliation
Sunscreen
Anti-Oxidant/Anti-Aging properties

I am big on using stable(! very important) sunscreen everyday and pretty much I wear waterproof sunscreens with physical agents year around.
This provides great protection but it tends to clog my pores and causes occasional breakouts, so efficiently removing the stubborn sunscreen/makeup is very important for me.

I have used cleansing oil and foaming cleanser on daily basis for a long time since I don't particularly suffer from dry skin.
I do need to find gentle and non-drying kinds since my skin is running on its inevitable aging courses. (*sigh*)

My holy grail cleansers would be La Prarie Cellular Cleansing Foam, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel and Shiseido Benefiance Cleansing Foam to name a few, but they are not excatly most affordable.
(The La Prarie one is now $75 a tube. crazy!)
So when you think about the value,  Shiseido Fitit Perfect series beats practically everything because it is as good as the higher-end ones.

I am specially in love with this cleansing foam.
Perfectly for the name, it whips up into very fine foam and cleanses beautifully. I only need to use a pea size and it will foam up more than I need.
(a note - I am in Manhattan, New York where water is very soft. It didn't foam as much when I brought this to my sister's house in Virginia, for instance.)
I have tried many other Japanese drugstore foaming cleansers that lather very well (Naive cleansers, for example), but they always seem to leave this tight and dry feeling after.
Perfect whip doesn't leave anything but comfortable clean feeling.
(another note - If you have extremely dry skin, it would be still too much. In this case, you should avoid all lathering cleansers and possibly water anyway.)

it is a little blurry, but do you see how finely it foams up? :)

For Perfect oil, I love its super light feel and how it washes away without leaving heavy residue.
It dissolves waterproof mascara completely and doesn't irritate your eyes.
I have also tried liquid and gel type from the same line, but the oil works the best for me. (Other forms tend to irritate my eyes for some reasons.)

stubborn waterproof eyeliner & gel liner applied on my hand

a drop of Perfect oil and some rubbing..

and it is completely clean after rinsing with water.

They both have a faint apple like scent which is pleasant. I don't like heavily scented cleansers nor like I raw ingredients smells from some unscented products, so this is perfect for me. :)

I am sure in Japan you could get these at cheaper price.
Here in the U.S. they retail around $14-15 each. I usually stock up from online stores.

I think I am going to use this cleansing combo for at least a few years more to come unless my skin type drastically changes. (God forbid)

Have you tried these products?
What is your favorite cleansing oil/foaming cleanser?

Do share with me. :)

Thanks for reading this long post!

  1. Great review Lena! I haven't tried any Shiseido products yet. Since fashion blogging, I've heard wonderful things about them. Will have to give it a try. I just placed an order for Clarins, so I will see how that works out first.

  4. Thanks for sharing Lena! I never got into Asian brands when I was in Taiwan, and now it's too late (really don't think you can get them in Europe)! I totally agree with you on the "simplifying routine" part. I also used to use bottles after bottles until I realized I only had to find a range of basics that work for me. I've never tried any cleansing oil, but at the moment I'm loving L'Occitane Foaming Rice Cleanser (which I have reviewed in my blog) :)

  8. i am pretty sure water of many places in the u.s. (even in new york state) is hard. manhattan is exceptional thanks to rockerfeler, i guess? ;p

i love shiseido for their superior cleansing foam and this drugstore version is just as good as their higher-end ones. :)

  9. my pleasure, Sunny. :)
i am actually into european skincare like Avene Eau Thermal (my favorite effective anti-aging line is from this brand. i'll do a review soon.) but i prefer asian brand cleansing oil & foaming cleansers.

some people react to cleansing oil since many contain mineral oil as well. i've had good luck with this particular oil, though.
i would love to look for your review on the cleanser. i love your reviews. :)

  10. i used to use separate eyemakeup remover like lancome bifacil but i don't anymore ever since i started using cleansing oil.
some do irritate eyes. for example, i loved the cleasing power of Biore cleansing oil (Kao biore, purple bottle) but i found it was irritating to my eyes!

i think using cleansing oil is pretty good since you don't need to rub too much and add unnecessary stress to your skin. you just need to watch carefully if oil products agree with you. hths! :)

  11. thank you, Kim ^-^*
i love shiseido products. if i can afford, i'd be using Cle de peau (their prestigious upper brand) all the time. lol
i also love clarins! i am glad you mentioned about it. clarins multi-active line is great and they have gel type oil makeup remover which is fantastic!
let me know later how you like your new skincare goodies. :)

  13. of course, i am glad to be any help. :)
some swear by Kao biore oil but it did irritate my eyes.
if you have sensitive skin, DHC deep cleansing oil is nice, too. :)

  14. These two are at the top of my cleansing list, next to Philosophy's Purity. I always use this cleansing oil in the winter & finish up with the whip. I love that it foams up amazingly!! Each time I go back to HK, I stock up. They're super cheap over there, around $6 each!

  15. i haven't tried these products... but i am loving the way the foaming cleanser looks on your photo. i always use a foaming cleanser that doesn't dry out too much.

i am still waiting myself to be invited to be able to use the rafflecopter... so it takes time to manually put it in the spreadsheet, then going to random.org to pick a winner.

i am looking forward to your outfit posts!

    take care,
    jas

  16. hey Jas! it's good to see your comments again. hope you and your family is doing well. :)

honestly, there are many foaming cleanser that make fine lathers, but i guess the best thing about this cleanser is that it doesn't overdry, just you mentioned it.
my skin is getting drier as it is aging so finding good cleanser is really important. plus it is affordable. :)

(i should learn how to take natural looking OOTD pics first! all i know is the mirro pics. lol)

  17. the foam of this cleanser is something special, isn't it? ;P
i can't find anything cheaper than $10 for the whip in the U.S. there is always shipping involved. ;(

  18. Oh these products sound so good. I'm pretty much a skincare junkie too. XD I have a naive cleanser that I love and hate because I also experience a dry/tight feeling a bit after cleansing. Currently testing out a new one and have kind of fallen in love with TBS tea tree oil cleanser in the day. I make my own oil cleanser at night (since it's cheaper haha) so just olive oil and castor oil (sometimes other oils if I have them on hand, love grape seed and jojoba!).

    ReplyDelete
  19. naive cleansers cleanse very well! that is given..but even the pink moisturizing one is kinda drying. this perfect whip doesn't leave dry feeling after, which is the best thing of this.

i admire you for making your own cleansing oil! some of the skincare board gurus even purchase raw unscented mineral oil and religiously use it as makeup remover. mineral oil is not evil any more (unless you are allergic to it but percentge is a lot lower than natural oil) since they are proven to be too big to clog pores. :)

  20. Great review!
I just heard about Perfect Whip recently, and unfortunately they don't sell that in Canada. You definitely persuaded me to get it. But will wait until summer; a better time to use foam cleanser.

  21. thank you!
i use it all the time and even for my brush cleansing. but i have combination skin.
it is really one of the best cleansers i've used. hope you like it!

  22. I just bought this cleanser and was wondering if it smelled like glue to you?

    ReplyDelete
  23. really?
i've never thought it smelled like that since it is quite mild! ;o
