Layering Revlon Lip Butter & L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm

I love Revlon Lip Butters and L'Oreal Colour Riche Balms equally and I personally think they deserve all the hypes indeed.
However, they are not perfect and both leave a little bit something to be desired.

For L'Oreal Balms, I would like a bit more color and lasting power although I adore how moisturizing they feel on my lips with glossy finish and added sun protection.
For Revlon Lip Butters, I love how they go on as if they are hugging my lips, but I want them to be more moisturizing and consistent in coverage.  The biggest problem I have with Lip Butters is that they seem to vary in coverage and moisture level depends on colors.
I know some of you are praising Lip Butters for their good pigmentation, but I kinda wish the darker colors went sheerer cause they look a bit much on my pigmented lips.

So I thought...why not layering them?  :)

I layered similar toned L'Oreal Balms over the darkest colors of my Revlon Lip Butters, and I am very happy with the results!

L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Heavenly Berry
+ Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

Colour Riche Balm in Heavenly Berry
very pretty but super sheer!

ColorBurst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie
also gorgeous but the color is too intense for me to pull easily.
This particular color is just like a regular lipstick to me. ; /

the layered happy medium :)

L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Rose Elixir
+ Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Cherry Tart

Colour Rich Balm in Rose Elixir
gorgeous pale pink but no staying power

ColorBurst Lip Butter in Cherry Tart
It is quite sheer but the coverage can be blotchy sometimes

When layered, the color is softer and it covers very evenly.

I would highly recommend layering these two lippies. ;)
Revlon Lip butters provide good color base and the Colour Riche Balms add moisture and shine.
There are many shades available from the Revlon Lip Butters and the L'Oreal range covers pretty much all color palettes with minimal pigmentation, so the possible combinations would be endless. :)

  7. What a great idea! I've never thought about layering two lipsticks to combine it's qualities together. I really like how much more wearable the L'Oreal balm makes the Relvon lip butters look.

  11. thank you! i am very happy with the combo myself.
raspberry pie is way too pigmented to be a sheer buildable lippie. it has sheen so it is kinda worse if that makes sense..; /

  12. thanks, Stacey :)
i actually don't like layering at all since i am bit lazy..lol
but i like this layering combo since it is much easier than lipstick + lipgloss combination.
i will still wear them as they are but i think layering works better for the darker colors. :)

to be honest, raspberry pie alone looks kinda gaudy on me. (*sobs*)
it is a shame cause it is such a vibrant pretty color!

  19. cherry tart is so much easy to work with.
i think raspberry pie looks weird because of the strong color + sheen combo factor...
    (thanks for the tissue! ^-----^)
