Review - John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Shampoo, Conditioner & Perfect Ends Sheer Mist

I am a big fan of John Frieda hair care line, and actually their Brilliant Brunette line is my staple. (They smell scrumptious and make my hair so soft! However, today it is not about them. ;p)
I got these shampoo, conditioner and hair mist about 3 months ago when I colored my hair pitch black. My hair is quite full and healthy but it did feel drier and stiff after coloring it.

John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Conditioner(L) and Shampoo(R)
(I squeezed a little bit of each out of the tubes to show the texture.)

Full Body Shampoo & Conditioner
*what they claim to do
Bodifying formula, with Inca Inchi Oil rich in omega-3, repairs the look and feel of overworked hair for full, flowing styles. Smoothes and detangles strands, reducing the risk of breaking and snagging when combing or brushing.
Safe for Color-Treated and Chemically Treated Hair

Perfect Ends Sheer Mist
*what it claims to do
Breakthrough sheer mist, with Inca Inchi Oil rich in omega-3, feels like it instantly absorbs into worn-torn strands, instead of coating the surface. Weightlessly reverses the look and feel of damage on lengths and ends to leave hair smooth, shiny and full of body. Helps protect against breakage from heat styling.
Safe for Color-Treated and Chemically Treated Hair

My Thoughts
They do seem to help damaged hair although we must acknowledge nothing can actually repair once damaged hair.
I have not see any split ends and felt my hair is quite manageable everytime after using the whole regimen.
I like that the shampoo lathers and cleanses well without overdrying. (I hate those shampoos designed for  dry/damaged hair but fail to clean and leave me buildups!)
The Conditioner is light to medium weight and does a good job moisturizing and detangling.
They smell expensive and nice for drug store products. The floriental scent could be hit of miss, but it works for me. It smells rather strong, but it dries down to a clean scent. I have read some reviews saying that they bought the mist specially for the lasting scent! :)
My hair feels full and bouncy after quick blow dry. I don't think they are as volumizing as conventional volumizing (& drying) kinds, though.

They are not build-up free. I feel I need to use clarifying shampoo every now and then with this. I have somewhat oily scalp with normal hair that is drier towards the ends, for your reference.

Overall, I think they are great products that serve the purpose and perform well.
The price is a bit more than your usual drugstore poos and cons, but they are often on sale and to me it is all worth it.
I think the mist works as heat protectant as well as finisher. When sprayed over clean wet hair, it seems to protect my hair and leaves my hair more manageable. This is actually designed for fine hair and there is serum type that is for thicker hair type.
Maybe I will try that next time. ;)

  1. looks good,!! i always like shampoo that has colour!? if that makes sense..!

    CMPang x

  2. I always buy cheap shampoo lol. I never condition my hair since I have oily hair ): I'm glad that my hair still feels healthy after like 10+ dye jobs.

  3. ah, I need a good volumizing shampoo. I feel like my hair is forever flat T_________T

  4. i don't think your hair is flat at all, but if you want good volumizing shampoo, try John Frieda Full Splendor volume line. i enjoyed this much during the summer. it really adds volume and cleanse well, but it doesn't make your hair frizzy like some other volumizing ones. :)

  5. there is nothing wrong with cheap shampoos, actually. just try to pick something with milder sulfate.
you are lucky to have healthy hair! maybe it's called youth. ;)

  6. you mean shampoo that's not transparent? this one is semi-opaque with pearly sheen. :)

  7. I also love JF hair products! They are quite affordable too and I kinda like the smell of it. My hubby just started working for CVS headquarters so we might be able to get discounts to buy CVS stuff, can't wait to stock up on these ;)

  8. i like brilliant brunette line the best. they all smell so good! you have beautiful brown hair. this would be perfect for you. :)
congrats on your hubby's new position. employee dc sounds sweet! ;)

  9. whee I like the packaging, it looks so classy in red :D

  10. hey, lena~
great review. i have the nastiest hair, so i am always looking for the perfect shampoo. i considered buying this at point, but it's good to know what you think. :)

hope yo have a fantastic weekend!

  11. nah, that can't be true. your hair looks pretty in every picture!
i don't buy expensive hair products but i like to have 3-4 different sets and rotate them depends on what i need.
this full repair line is definitely nice, but i think i still prefer brilliant brunette.

hope you and your family have a nice one, too! :)

  12. yeah. that is what drew me in, too. :)

  13. interesting, I hear John Frieda has good hair products, but thats too bad you still have to use something else for your scalp sometimes, I'm in the same boat as you with oily scalp!

  14. yeah, i guess nothing's perfect. ;)
when i rotate different poos and cons, it actually seems to prevent build-ups. i don't use clarifying shampoo since it could be so drying. i use volumizing kinds instead. it works pretty well for the purpose.

  15. I always wanted to pick these up, but always look past them because i didn't know if they worked well or not. Maybe i'll just try the Brilliant Brunette one instead!

  16. i think this line works best right when the cuticle layers all messed up right after coloring.
i'd highly recommend brilliant brunette. they have different kinds for different purposes. i'll do separate postings on them soon. :)
